Abstract

Animal wastes present in the form of manure, urine, feed, hatchery by product, blood, feather, bone, horn, and rumen material. Unmanaged animal waste contributes to environment problems. Animal wastes consist of nitrogen, phosphate, pathogen and organic material. Over absorption of nitrogen affect to melkomoglobinemia, meanwhile eutrophication happened due to over phosphate on the water bodies. Pathogen cause infection and diseases, and furthermore less oxygen due to over organic material in water decreasing fish population. Applying feed enzyme may increase availability of nutrition, performance, and decrease pollution impact due to manure. Well-management of livestock take consideration of environmental aspects, such as awareness of environment risk, balancing nutrition content of the waste animal, waste management, neighbor awarness, understand and obeying the regulation, and consider to the physical factors and applying land evaluation for livestock-site selection. This article responds to the impact of livestock on the environment and discusses factors related to environmental friendly of livestock management.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to answer the problem whether there are: 1) influence of the social economical condition of the village towards an attitude of the environmental health; 2) influence of the level of the educational background towards an attitude of the environmental health; and 3) interaction between social economical condition of village and the level of educational background in influencing an attitude towards environmental health. All the researches are applied to the Majaksingi society, Borobudur Sub District, Magelang Regency. The survey method and sampling technique of the research is done by the method of multistage ramdom sampling. The instruments to obtain the data are: 1) questionnaire in the form of Likert scale to measure and attitude towards the environmental health; 2) poll to distinguish the social economical condition of village and the level of educational background of the society. The technique of data analysis is employing Two Way Anova, with Factorial 2x2 designs. Before the process of data analysis, there is a test of analysis requirement by employing Normality Distribution Sample Test and Homogeneity Varian Test.Based on the research result, it is suggested that the social economical condition in less advanced village must be increased by applying the government program which cover the effort to increase the economical condition and to omit the negative social habits which can harm the environmental health. Beside that, the educational level of the society in isolated village in Menoreh Tenggara Majaksingi village must be given on opportunity to increase it. Only employing that way, their attitude toward enronmental health will rise up, and hopefully their environmental health will better. By knowing that there is no interaction between social economical condition of the village and the level of educational background, it indicated tha the theory of interaction cannot be applied to the two variables which have big influence towards the environmental health. The two variables do not depend on each other.

Abstract

Karanganyar Regency is home to various agricultural resources that can be developed into tourist attractions. However, these resources have not been optimally developed to strengthen the economy. Farmers have contributed to the development of agricultural resources as tourist attractions, even though their participation is still limited to notification efforts, information gathering and discussions. This research aims to 1) find out the needs of the farmers concerning the development of agritourism, 2) explore the regency’s government policies and programs concerning the development of agricultural resources as tourist attractions, and 3) formulate a community-based agritourism development model. Research data were obtained from field observation, in-depth interview, Focus Group Discussion, and content analysis. Data were analyzed using interactive and thematic analysis. The results show that 1) support and facilitation from stakeholders are needed in order to develop agricultural resources as tourist attractions, 2) the regency’s government policies and programs are still limited, and 3) this research leads to the recommendation of Community Empowerment in Developing Agritourism (CEDA) as a model for community-based agritourism development.

Abstract

Research of effect filler addition in drying to nutrient component exchange in storage of processed organic wastes of kitchen and restaurant hotel’s was done at the laboratory of feed Technology, Departemen of Animal Nutrition and Feeding, Faculty of Animal Science UNDIP, Semarang. The research was aimed to study effect of filler addition in drying process of organic wastes of kitchen and restaurant hotel’s so the qualityy of product observed from proximate component and total fungi exchange during storage. Experiment was conducted by factorial completely randomized design (CRD-factorial) 3x2x3. Organic wastes of hotels class 1,2 and 3 dried by adding filler 0 and 15% and were stored for 0, 4 and 8 weeks. Component proximate i.e.: crude protein (CP), crude fat (CF), crude fiber (CF), Ash and Nitrogen Free extract (NFE) and total fungi are parameter observed. Data were statistically analyzed by Steel and Torrie (1981).The result showed that interaction effects of rice brand addition and time of storing are significant to EE, CF and NFE (P<0.05), but the effect to CP and Ash are not significant (P>0.05). interaction between hotel class, filler and storing significantly affected total fungi in the processed product (P<0.05).

Abstract

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of formulated complete feed containing either one of dried legume leave of leucaena (Diet1), gliricidia (Diet2), or calliandra (Diet3) for protein sources of feed on the reproduction performance of the thin tailed ewes. The experiment used 18 head of ewe lambs of about 8 months old, which were individually penned in an elevated barn belongs to The Central Java Assessment Institute for Agricultural Technology, Ungaran. Each experimental animal was randomly fed either one of the three experimental diets. In addition, the study also employed 3 bucks of the fat tailed sheep for mating the ewes. Measurements were made for dry matter (DM) consumption of feed, weight gain, first oestrus occurrence, body weight at first oestrus, and pregnancy rate of the ewes. Results showed that the ewes fed Diet 2 consumed (535.7 g DM/d) larger (P<0.05) amount of feed than that receiving Diet 1 (489.7 g DM/d) or either Diet 3 (500.3g DM/d). The data exhibited that palatability of Diet2 was superior among the three experimental diets. Consistently, weight gain of ewes (37.4 g/d) and the body weight at the first oestrous occurred (17.88 kg) of ewe fed gliricidia diet (Diet2) also higher (P<0.05) than that consuming Diet1 (21 g/d and 15.88 kg) or the one consumed Diet3 (20.4 g/d and 16.37 kg). However, the distinction effect of various dried legume three leaves inclusion in the diets on the pregnancy rate was not significant (66.7% versus 66.7% versus 60%, for the animals fed Diet1 versus Diet2 versus Diet3). Overall, the present study concluded that the use of dried legume three leaves for protein sources in the complete feeds for ewes did not exhibit any negative effect.

Abstract

Garlic has a high price in the market, however, production of garlic has its limitations. The use of chemical fertilizers has shortcomings in terms of environmental sustainability, so need for organic fertilizer which serves to reduce the negative impact. The study aims to determine interactive between kinds of mycorrhizal and organic fertilizer to garlic, get the appropriate mycorrhizal and to get the Suistainablekind of fertilizer to increase of the garlic yield. The experiment was conducted from January 2013 to August 2013. Research using CRD (completely randomized design) with 2 factors of organic fertilizer (chicken manure, cow manure, goat manure, manure and vermicompost compost) and mycorrhizal types (Gigaspora margarita, Acaulospora sp, Glomus etunicatum). The results showed mycorrhizal mycorrhizal types Gigaspora margarita is suitable and capable of enhancing the growth of garlic, application of organic fertilizers used have not been able to increase the growth and yield of garlic. Applications of various types of mycorrhiza and organic fertilizers have not been able to increase the growth of garlic.
