Abstract

Now rice can be planted in the yard, using polybags and SRI Method (one seed per pot). Liquid organic fertilizer based on local microorganism (LOM) which is obtained by fermentation livestock urine and extract of golden snail. This extract is used as biodecomposer to ferment livestock waste into solid and liquid fertilizer. The fertilizer is used for black rice plant in polybag. This technology was applied in Sri Agung village from Sido Rukun and Sido Mukti area, specially for womens from several RT and for agriculture womens association that are active in the utilization of yard. The target is to increase the yield of the yard, previously no rice crops, now exist, at least each pot produced 500 g of dry black rice, 100 liters of liquid organic fertilizer per month and 50 kg of solid fertilizer per two months. The result showed, the level of PKK participation when mentoring is high because from 50 people, 40 people are present in every activity. Evaluation showed there are high farmer participation in land preparation and demonstration of RINMAS technology and low level farmers participation in implementation SRI method. Abstract

Cooking oil that has been used more than once is not good for health due to exposure to carcinogens. Waste cooking oil causes pollution to the environment. Waste cooking oil can be used as a raw material for making liquid soap. The objective of this activity was to introduce the knowledge and train Batu Basurat community in making dishwashing-liquid soap from waste cooking oil. The method consists of location survey, training preparation, interactive training, monitoring, and evaluation. Dishwashing-liquid soap was made by mixing preheated waste cooking oil and potassium hydroxide (KOH) at 60-70 °C for one hour until trace was formed. Then, the mixture was kept agitated every 15 minutes for 2-3 hours until it becomes more solidified and transparent. Liquid soap was made by dissolving in warm water and addition of lemon essence as a deodorizer. Batu Basurat villagers showed a great interest in the activity, showing by enthusiasm and involvement in the training. Evaluation results showed that 100% community understood on making homemade dishwashing-liquid soap and 90% community agreed that liquid soap from waste cooking oil has a commercial potential, which could increase entrepreneurship ability and economic growth of Batu Bersurat villagers.

Abstract

The bakery industry is one of the food industries that continues to increase along with the increase in income and changes in people's lifestyles. Increasing the number of bakery industries has an impact on the increasing demand for wheat flour, which in turn can threaten national food security. Faidah Catering Service and Baraqah Q Snack, Cake and Cookies are SME partners engaged in bakery industry in Binjai City. Based on the situation analysis, the problems of both SMEs are low production capacity and competition in the marketing. The use of wheat flour as the raw material makes their products become same as the products produced by other SMEs. The simple processing equipment causes a low production capacity. The proposed problem-solving method for SME partners is product diversification through the use of local tubers in the form of cassava flour and sweet potato flour as raw material. Increased production capacity is carried out by giving and training the use of production equipment in the form of dough mixers and oven grills with large capacity. The results of the activity indicate that the diversification of cake products and cookies using non-flour flour raw materials can be accepted by consumers and increase marketing.
