Abstract

Chronic malnutrition experienced from childhood is the cause of stunting which is determined based on indicators of nutritional status of height according to age (TB/U). One of the factors causing stunting is the length of the child's birth body, and the father's level of education. This study sought to ascertain the association between father education and birth length and the prevalence of stunting in toddlers between the ages of 24-59 months. In the form of a cross sectional, this study used an analytical observational design. This study was conducted at five health centers in North Pontianak, namely Siantan Hilir Health Center, Siantan Hulu Health Center, Middle Siantan, Khatulistiwa Health Center and Telaga Biru Health Center with a sample of 384 toddlers aged 7-59 months who were selected by purposive sampling. Data on height measurement and determination of nutritional status were measured using a microtois device, while data on father's education and birth length were taken by conducting direct interviews with the respondent's mother using a questionnaire. Data on height and nutritional status of TB/U were analyzed descriptively, while to see the relationship between variables, chi-square analysis was used. Toddlers who have a history of short birth weight have more stunting nutritional status by 25.6%. Stunting and the history of the child's birth length were significantly correlated (p=0.019). Short-born infants are 2.29 times more likely to experience stunting as toddlers. The incidence of stunting is correlated (p = 0.033) with the educational level of fathers of children under five. Toddlers whose fathers have less education have 39.8% more normal nutritional status.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Stunting occurs due to a lack of micro and macro nutrients which are not sufficient both in quality and quantity, and also due to the presence of chronic diseases, especially when still in the womb until the age of 2 years. The prevalence of stunting can also be caused by exclusive breastfeeding status. Giving breast milk for less than 4 months has a risk of 7.325 times greater for disrupting its development compared to toddlers more than 4 months getting breast milk. The study aimed to determine the status of exclusive breastfeeding and Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) with the incidence of stunting in peat soils and the banks of the Kapuas River. This type of research is an analytical design that uses a case-control design to compare the peat area with the Kapuas watershed in terms of stunting related to the risk of stunting factors. This study used a retrospective approach with a total sample of 50 case groups and 50 control groups. The data obtained will be analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods using Logistic Regression. The results showed that there was a significant relationship (p='<0.05) between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in peat soils and riverbanks. Toddlers who are not exclusively breastfed for 6 months on peat soils and riverbanks have 7.5 times and 3.3 times chance that stunting will occur. There is no significant relationship between Community-Based Total Sanitation and the incidence of stunting on peat soils and riverbanks (p='>0.05). However, toddlers who do not do STBM have the opportunity to experience stunting. Conclusion. There is a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding status and the incidence of stunting. There is no significant relationship between STBM status and the incidence of stunting.

Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a productive plant where every part can be utilized. Not only the flesh and kernels of the palm fruit can be extracted into oil, but the by-products produced during the production process and their waste can also be processed into something useful. One of the zero waste-based palm oil waste processing that is being developed at this time is the use of non-productive oil palm tree trunks during the replanting period, namely by taking the sap. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a factorial experiment design which aims to analyze the quality of palm sap resulting from zero waste-based waste treatment at several variations of tapping time and duration. In this study, there were 2 factors in cross classification, namely factor A (time) and factor B (tapping time). Factor A consists of 2 levels, namely A1: Morning, A2: Afternoon and factor B consists of 3 levels, namely B1: 4 hours, B2: 8 hours, B3: 12 hours. Treatment is a combination of both. To find out the differences in each treatment group, a bivariate test was performed with one way annova test with a 95% confidence level and continued with Duncan's test. The results showed that the combination of tapping time and length of time was significantly different for pH, moisture content, total acid, total solids and alcohol content of palm sap but not significantly different for ash content of palm sap.

Abstract

Martabe drink is a drink made from purple passion fruit and Dutch eggplant. This drink can be found easily in North Sumatra. The content of purple passion fruit and Dutch eggplant is rich in nutritional compounds, especially micronutrients and bioactive compounds. This makes the martabe drink a functional drink that not only quenches thirst and is delicious but also good for health. The high content of micro compounds in the form of vitamins and minerals, as well as bioactive compounds (antioxidants), makes it susceptible to damage. Making a martabe drink in powder form is an effort to maintain the nutritional value and essential bioactive compounds. Instant powder drinks can also increase the shelf life, simplify the distribution process and increase the ease of increasing the economic value of passion fruit and Dutch eggplant. Martabe instant drink is made using the thin layer drying (TLD) technique. This technique was chosen because it can produce powdered drinks with a reasonably high yield without reducing the nutritional value during the process and is more effective and efficient. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and three replications with variations in the ratio of purple passion fruit and Dutch eggplant. The results showed that the yield values ranged from 65.98-82.39%, moisture content 3.02-3.18%, pH 3.77-3.87, vitamin C content 16.91-24.04 mg/100g, and antioxidant activity of 60.78-76.38 ?g/mL.

Abstract

Maceration using ethanol solvent was chosen in extracting durian rind which was then evaporated to obtain 50 grams of durian peel extract. The results of the phytochemical screening test showed that the durian rind contains tannin compounds as evidenced by the addition of Iron (III) chloride reagent to produce a black solution. In addition, durian peel also contains terpenoid compounds which have been proven using the Lieberman Burchard reagent so that a blackish brown ring is produced in the extract. The best hand sanitizer product formulation is 75 mL of 96% ethanol, 2 mL of glycerin, 3 mL of 3% hydrogen peroxide, 10 mL of distilled water and 10 mL of a 6% concentration of durian peel extract solution. The hand sanitizer product has a liquid form, has a clear brownish color, has a distinctive durian rind aroma with a pH around 6 indicating that the hand sanitizer is suitable for use. Concentration of 6% Durian fruit peel hand sanitizer has better antibacterial ability than other concentrations with a large inhibition zone of 12.4 mm which is categorized as a strong level as an antibacterial substance.
