Abstract

This  study  was  a  Quasi Experiment: The Post-test Only Non- Equivalent Group Design. This study aimed to investigate the differences in students? math anxiety was treated Cooperative Learning of the Group Investigation Type and conventional learning. The instruments used in this study were math anxiety scale and students? daily journal. This study resulted in the finding that there was no difference of students? math anxiety in both classes.  However,  judging  from  the students? daily journal, students? math anxiety of Cooperative Learning of the Group Investigation Type class showed a downward trend compared to the conventional  class  students  tend  to fluctuate. Therefore, further research is needed to investigate the effect of Cooperative Learning of the Group Investigation Type on students? math anxiety.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to composing didactic design concept about surface area and volume of prismsbased on learning obstacle (learning difficulties) students when studying the concept.The research methods is qualitative methods with data  collection  techniques are  observation, question  and  answer,  and  documentation. The  initial  step  in  this  research  is identifying learning obstacle with learning obstacle instrument to students in grade IX junior high school and grade X senior hign scool who has studied about that concept. After learning obstacle is identified, the didactic design then composed by adjusting the learning theories that  are relevant and does not reduce mathematical abilities that can be developed. Didactic design which has been arrangedthen implemented in the students  learning  process  on  grade  VIII SMP. Didactic design effectiveness was measured using a modified degree increase of   the   gain   normalized   Hake.   Didactic design has show considerable effectiveness, with an effective medium category. Results of the implementation and effectiveness of the didactic design shows that the didactic design that has been composed can be used as one of the alternative designs in studying the concept of surface area and volume of prisms.

Abstract

The type of this research is a descriptive.   Subjects   in   this   study   were students  on  VII  semester  of  academic  year 2015-2016. This research implement scaffolding learning strategy through lesson study in  real  analysis  subject  matter,  which was held in September and October 2015. The scaffolding learning strategies present the theorems to the students, difficult but systematic and thereafter students are given assistance to complete. Results of the study are (i) the learning activities of students using scaffolding learning strategies through lesson study  on  the  analysis  of  real  subjects  each cycle are increase. (ii) the ability of students to prove theorems in real analysis are increase for   each   cycles.   Originally   a   student   in proving the theorem need help lecturers constantly but at the end of the cycle, the students become more independent in proving theorems. (iii) the confidence and activity of the students are increase to. Students become more confident when appointed by lecturers working on the white board.

Abstract

Strategic mathematical competence is one focus of mathematical proficiency. But  in  reality  they  encountered  students who   are   low   mathematical   ability   of strategic competence. One alternative learning that can improve students  strategic competence mathematical is a model Advance Organizer   with a concept map. This study aims to determine the increase in strategic      mathematical competence capability of students who received Organizer Advance model learning with concept maps and students who obtain teaching  expository  method.  This  study used an experimental method. The population in this study were students of class VII SMP Negeri 1 Kroya Indramayu and taken two classes at random according to the class as a sample. Instruments used in this research is test the ability of strategic mathematical competence. Based on the analysis  of  research  data,  we  concluded that, by enhancing the strategic competence of  students  who  obtain  a  mathematical model study Advance Organizer to map the concept better than students who received learning expository method.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is (1) analyze student?s concept in answering the association test, (2) analyze the concept of understanding  relationship  to  answer  the test depends on the student?s school origin.The method used in this research is qualitative with case study approach. In clustering sampling technique the subject was used in this research is 6 students, shared  in  3  groups.  They  are  2  students come from public vocational school, 2 students come from public senior high school and 2 students come from private senior high school and vocational school. Data was collected through test and interview.   Data   analysis   used   in   this research refers to Milles and Huberman in Moellong?s book; they are data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The result showed that the student?s understanding is various enough in answering the  set  test.  Depending on  the first subject analysis (S1) who came from private school, he did not understand about the concept of set. The second subject analysis (S2) and the third subject analysis (S3)  who  came  from  public  school,  they had understood. But, they need to be careful and patient to avoid the mistakes. The data which  had  gained from deeply interview, showed that the subject analysis (S1), (S2) and (S3) were able to indicate the relationship of school origin with the student?s concept of understanding within answering the set test.

Abstract

Most   of   Students   in   High School are not mastering in Trigonometry subject.  It is because the learning trigonometry arithmetic is new material on the curriculum in High school level and even just a little discussed in class IX of junior high school level. Then, in learning trigonometry the students are required to memorize a lot of formulas and should be able to use the formula quickly.    The other subjects,  such  as mathematics, trigonometry material  is structured and organized as well as, trigonometry subjects should also be understood from the basic framework. The basic of trigonometry is students must be able to determine the comparative value of trigonometry appropriately. One way to facilitate the students  in  order  to  determine  easily the  value  of  a  special  angle  is  using ?the  five  finger  technique? trigonometry.  Through this technique, The writer is expected that students can easily  remember  and  memorize  the basic concept of determining the comparative value of trigonometry with special angle.

Abstract

Trigonometry is the uppermost group of the most difficult materials collection in mathematics. Trigonometry is belonging to the materials that have the greatest number of concept even trigonometry is well known by the quantity of formula or identity and application from trigonometry. They are establish that trigonometry is a very important material. In fact, the majority of students which dislike the trigonometry and they have low mark even the lowest from another topics in mathematics. The main factor is the teacher. The teacher is lack innovative  in  teaching  trigonometry material even the difficulties degree of trigonometry material same with the difficulties degree of the students which receive the material from their teacher. In order  that, the writer  try to  give  an  idea which can be an alternative in teaching learning trigonometry, especially angles relations   which   have   tens   of   angles relations. In determine the angles relations each quadrant, it can using the graph functions of sinus and cosines. It means that the graphs method can be an alternative in teaching learning trigonometry, especially angles relations.

Abstract

The  purpose  of  this  research  is  to find out the increase of student?s mathematical problem solving competence through the implementation of Osborn Learning Model, as well as compare it with the  student  who  earned  conventional learning.    In  addition,  the  purpose  of this research is to find out the increase of mathematical  problem  solving  competence on a group of student with high, middle, and low capability. The next purpose is to find out the attitude of the students against the osborn learning model. Methods used in this research is quasi Experimenter Method with pretest and post-test Marginalized Control Design. Population on this research are all of  students  of  VIII  grades  in  SMPN  1 Bandung. Samples on this research are two classes   of   VIII   grades,   one   class   as Experimental Class and the other one as control    class.    Research    data    obtained through the test of student?s mathematical problem solving competence, questionnaire, and  observation  sheets.  The  result  of  this research shows that the increasing of student?s   mathematical   problem   solving competence with Osborn Learning Model better than   the increasing of student?s mathematical  problem  solving  competence with conventional learning. There are differences in the increasing competence on the groups of high capability, middle capability and low capability in osborn class and   conventional   class.   In   general,   the students  give  a  positive  attitude  against Osborn Learning Model.

Abstract

This  research   was   conducted   in one of junior high school in Tangerang academic  year  2015/2016.  Aimed  to analyze the effect of CPS model on the students? mathematical adaptive reasoning skills. The method used in  this  study  was a quasi   experimental   method with randomized posttest only control group design. Samples were obtained as many as two classes by cluster random sampling technique.  Based  on  result  of  hypothesis this    show    that    students? mathematical adaptive    reasoning      skills    who    were taught  by  creative  problem solving  model was   higher   than   the students?mathematical adaptive reasoning skills of those who were taught by conventional model

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine  whether  there  is  influence students' interest in learning and talent of the student learning outcomes. This study uses a quantitative survey with correlation techniques. This research was conducted at SMPN 18 Tangerang, the study population was as many as 250 students of class VII and sample as many as 153 students. Instruments in this study tests and questionnaires or questionnaire. Of multiple correlation analysis obtained t count = 23.208> t table =  3.06  for  the  5%  significance  level  and regression  analysis  obtained,  which  means the interest in learning, gifted students and learning    outcomes    have    a    significant relationship and shows that interest in learning and talent students are influential the results of students' mathematics learning.
