Abstract

Small industries are life-sustaining for communities because of their political and strategic position in terms of creating job opportunities and increasing revenue. One small industrial sector that has the potential to be developed is the food industry. Small food industries are widely scattered in every area, including in the city of Palembang. A small industrial group of food that became one of the culinary icons in Palembang is the cracker industry. This type of industry is a culinary icon that has been famous for foreign countries. Nevertheless, the cracker industry is still experiencing obstacles in terms of capital and marketing. The cost of raw materials is relatively expensive to technically trigger the industry inefficiencies. Therefore, it is necessary to review the technical efficiency of this small industry.  The variables used in this study were capital, labor, and output. The data used is secondary data that is analyzed by using the Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) approach. The results showed that the technical efficiency achievement of small industrial crackers in South Sumatera is still categorized as low. The use of labor input is more effective than capital use as a result of the utilization of technology and local resources. Therefore, the development of small industrial crackers through an efficiency approach cannot be separated from the application of technology, human resource management, marketing, and business climate.

Abstract

This research was aimed to identify the effect of SBI interest rate, loan interest rate and exchange rate on inflation in Indonesia. The data used  in this research were quarterly data in the periods of 2006-2012. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively using multiple regression method, Ordinary least square (OLS). The research result showed that SBI interest rate variable had a negative effect on inflation as big as -1.748030, meaning that the increase of SBI interest rate was followed by the decrease of inflation rate. Loan interest rate variable had a positive effect on inflation as big as 0.966608, meaning that the increase of loan interest rate was followed by the increase of inflation rate.  The exchange rate variable had a negative effect on inflation as big as -4.110552, This meant the increase of exchange rate was followed by the increase of inflation rate. Keywords: SBI Interest Rate, Loan Interest Rate, Exchange Rate and Inflation

Abstract

This study aim to comparing accuracy in the analysis of qualitative response data especially to analyze the probability of car ownership households by using LPM models , GMM,  Probit and Logit Models. Primary data is taken from households in the Kelurahan Pahlawan Kota Palembang. The result of the coefficients and constants model by using OLS and GMM estimation  is the same, only slightly different in the standard error, where the GMM standard error is slightly smaller than the OLS standard errors, but of probability gives the same conclusion. Where as estimated by using Maximum Likelihood method such as  probit and logit models better than OLS and GMM estimate. In the case of car ownership results estimation methods of logit model give coefficient greater than the coefficient probit model. But the determination of the coefficient by McFadden ( R2MCF ) probit models is higher than R2MCF logit model. Based from Akaike information criterion (AIC) and Schward Criterion (SC) indicators,  probit model is better than the logit model. Thus, in the result of the model, probit model is better than the logit model. If income rises, as the prediction Probit models, households will have a probability buying a new car is rapid, otherwise if income drops, then the probability of the household will be quickly decided not to buy a car. In the logit model if income increases, then probability of buying car a smaller because it does not immediately decide to buy a car , so if revenues fall,  does not mean it will not buy the car, but did delay for the foreseeable future . Excellence both probit and logit models, can be predicted of the probability additional effects (marginal effect). However, marginal  effects on the model probit is higher than the logit model. Keywords: Probability Linier Model, General Method of Moment, Maximum Likelihood- Probit, and Logit.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of minimum wage, economic growth and education in South Sumatera from 1995-2014 using secondary data. This study uses quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques in which multiple regression and dummy variables are used in the quantitative methods. The dummies used are (1) education below high school and (2) education above high school. The results show that minimum wage and variable dummy (1) have significant effect on the labor absorption during the observation period. There is positive association in both of variables on labor absorption in which labor absorption increases as minimum wage and variable dummy (1) increases. Meanwhile, multicollinearity occurs when economic growth added, therefore it is eliminated from the model. Variabe dummy (1) is significantly more influential compare to variable dummy (2) indicating higher labor absorption in elementary (SD) and junior high school (SMP) education

Abstract

This article discussed the function and formula of block grants in Indonesia. The general block grants called ‘Dana Alokasi Umum’ (DAU) in Indonesia faced many problems, such as the goodness of fit the formula, the principle of goals, and local dependency. The impact of DAU to the local budget can be seen two different functions: (1) improve the capability of local finance; (2) increase the fiscal dependency. Both impacts tend to face ‘trade-off’ in implementation. However, fiscal dependency is an indication that local government depend to transfer of fund from central government. Finally, DAU support local budget where as DAU also increase the dependency. Re-formulation of DAU can elaborate the differences of local satisfaction and local fiscal dependency. Keywords: general block grant, fiscal dependency

Abstract

Economic growth figures are one indicator to assess economic success. During the period of 2011-2017, Indonesia's economic growth rate was quite good, with at an average of 5,4 percent per year. However, these conditions have not been matched by a significant reduction in the level of poverty and inequality, and the level of employment has not been optimized. This indicates that the growth that has occurred has not been inclusive. This study to find out how the level of inclusive growth in Indonesia, measured by the inclusiveness index and the factors of development of physical capital and human resources that influence. The method of this study use panel data regression approach. The findings show that in the period 2011-2017, the level of inclusiveness index value in Indonesia is in the middle category. The variable of physical capital development in the form of government capital expenditure is statistically significant influencing the inclusiveness index in Indonesia, while the value of private capital investment has no significant effect. Human resource development variables, in the form of LFPR, RLS, and health complaints were statistically significant for the inclusiveness index in Indonesia, while government spending on education and health not significantly affected the inclusiveness index in Indonesia.
