Abstract

This paper concern about design ACOS with PLC system. The supply of electricity will move from the main generator to the battery when the main generator lost one phase, and the power supply will switch to the emergency generator when the voltage in accordance with the emergency generator working voltage AC electrical equipment on board is 380VAC. Electricity supply shall not move directly from the emergency generator to the main generator but to the battery first to prevent damage to the AC electrical equipment on board.  Transport time for the system for 30 seconds ACOS equipment in accordance with the ICC and SOLAS regulations which require the transfer of under 45 seconds. ACOS equipment can be used in real conditions on the ship because it has phase failure, under voltage and over voltage protection and a relay as an indication for the transfer of command power supply automatically.

Abstract

Dredger are a vessel for lift materials from sub surface to another place above the water surface. Dredger divided into some types such Suction Dredger, Bucket Dredger, Backhoe Dredger, and Water Injection Dredger. Cutter Suction Dredger is equipped with a rotating cutter head, for cutting and fragmenting hard soils. The soil is sucked up by means of dredge pumps, and discharged through a floating pipeline and pipes on shore, to a deposit area. In some cases, the material is discharged into split hopper barges that are moored alongside the Cutter Suction Dredger. These split hopper barges unload the soil at the deposit area. The most important part of dredger are the pump unit, NPSH is needed to figure the pump performance ability and how the efficiency number of the pump. Booster pump performance analysist are needed to mantain the pump's performance and efficiency. This thesis are describe about drawing process and computerized simulation at Ansys Software for pump performance with 3 different fluid types and 5 variations of impeller rotation. The number of NPSHa are 6.8 m and 2.8 for the NPSHr. Based on the pure water state, the lowest RPM value of 300 was obtained with V = 1.1366 m / s and Q = 1227.52 m3 / h, the highest RPM value of 600 with the result v = 1.1259 m / s and Q = 1215.97 m3 / h. Then the pumps used in this final project are more efficiently used for fluid types which tend to be condensed from the liquid, and less efficient for use in the state of pure water fluid

Abstract

Nowadays, ships are using LNG as main engine fuel because based on the facts that LNG has no sulphur content, and its combustion process, LNG produces low NOx content compared to heavy fuel oil and marine diesel oil. LNG is not only produces low gas emission, but may have economic advantages. In the engine laboratory of maritime studies department in Warnemunde, Germany, there is a diesel engine type MAN 6L23/30 A, where the mode operation of these engine would be changed to dual fuel engine mode operation. Therefore, in this thesis, the use dual fuel engine will be compared where it will utilize natural gas and marine diesel oil and select the required components for fuel gas supply system. By conducting the process calculation, engine MAN 6L23/30 A requires the capacity natural gas of 12.908  for 5 days at full load. A concept for LNG supply system would be arranged from storage tank until engine manifold. Germanischer Lloyd and Project Guide of dual fuel engine will be used as a guidelines to develop an optimal design and arrangement which comply with the regulation.

Abstract

Ship stability is one of the important criteria for ship safety as required by IMO and Indonesia Classification Bureau (BKI) in various rules. One of it is the IMO code of Intact Stability. Many factors affect the stability of a ship, including ship load, which in application varies in weight and type of vehicle. Maxsurf has been used to analyze various conditions of the ship, including stability. However, Maxsurf is too complicated to be used by ordinary people. For that a package needed as mediator to Maxsurf to be easier to use. This research developed a package to assist in analyzing the ship stability with vary in weight and type of vehicle. The package was created in Microsoft Excel worksheet and is connected to Maxsurf Stability. Visual Basic for Application was use to write the codes (coding) for the package command. The target ship used in this analysis is a 500 GT ferry ship. After the package is working properly, the analysis simulation can be run. Simulation results show that maximum GZ of both fully loaded and overloaded conditions occur at tilt angle of around 30o. Exceeding such value, the ship for both conditions slowly lose the turning moment. At fully loaded condition, the ship hardly turns back after reaching a tilt angle of 73 o. At overload condition, the ship is still safe though losing its ability to turn back is faster, at heel angle of 71o.

Abstract

In the process of distributing LPG to all regions in Indonesia, LPG stations have an important role. In operation, LPG stations may have hazards caused by environmental conditions such as pipe fatigue (fatigue) due to geotechnical forces or failure of components in the system. Research case of  piping systems used pipe stress analysis. The purpose of this analysis is to know the deflection of the pipe, the loads that occur by the pipe, and the safety of the pipe and its support. This analysis refers to the code or standard ASME B31.3 where the stress analysis is performed using software. In the process of pipe modeling, there are variations of loading such as pressure load variation, wall thickness and elevation of soil degradation value. From the results of calculation and simulation pipe stress analysis using software can be seen that  header pipe 12 inch at LPG station of Semarang is NOT stress, so it is safe to be use. The thickness of the pipe allowed for to be unstable when the operating pressure is greater than 0.15 inch, and the operating pressure allowed for the pipe to be unstable at a thickness of 0.4 pipe (schedule 40) is less than 725 Psi (50 Bars).

Abstract

Disturbance of power system in ship is unavoidable case that required a function from safety system to separate the affected parts of system. The disturbance in electrical system generally is a short-circuit current. It is affected when there are two conductors having lowest impedance in normal condition that have two different voltages thus causing an overcurrent. There is one of the device protection to prevent a disturbance like short circuit current, is circuit breaker. It opens the contact with component or system that disturbance using electromechanical trip device. The principal operating of trip device is using electric current flow in the circuit breaker and the magnet induces the tripping part to moving the contact from closed position to the opened position. The main discussion is to coordinate circuit breakers in four operating conditions of the ship's generator using software ETAP. The simulation of the result obtained value of short circuit in main bus one at sailing condition is 8.2 kA. Tripping time for the circuit breakers in sailing condition at one typical disturbance are 0.75 seconds for circuit breaker number 29; 0.83 seconds for circuit breaker number 37 and 1 second for circuit breaker number 28.

Abstract

research on biodiesel as an alternative fuel has been widely carried out. Such as mixing one type of oil mixed with diesel fuel with a certain composition. In this research, biodiesel was made by mixing two types of oil and then mixed with diesel fuel with a composition of 30:80, where 30% for mixed oil that is cottonseed oil and coconut oil, then 80% for diesel fuel. And then in this research, the composition between cottonseed oil and coconut oil must be found, so that it will get the best composition between cottonseed oil and coconut oil. For comparison in performance between mixed biodiesel with 4 cSt and 6 cSt, and in the mixing process, using mathematical calculation methods, then the mixing results must meet SNI standards (Standard Nasional Indonesia / Indonesian National Standards). In this research, 4-stroke diesel engines with one cylinder were used. From the experiments and data analysis, biodiesel with 6 cSt more powerful, torsion and BMEP better than mixed biodiesel 4 cSt.

Abstract

Quality of fish is an important factor and determines the high selling price of fish in the market. In achieving that it will require proper handling in the process of cooling the fish before it is sold. To keep the freshness of the fish, fishermen usually use Styrofoam-based coolbox as its isolation. In this study modify coolbox using rice husk which serve as insulation on coolbox. This study aims to determine the effect of insulation using rice husk over time and temperature which will be compared with Styrofoam coolbox. Before the experiment, the first thing to do is to test the composition of rice husk with white cement. Where is the best composition to be used as insulation on coolbox. The tests are thermal conductivity, density, and flexural strength tests. From the test results obtained the best composition of rice husk and white cement is 1: 1 which has a thermal conductivity (0.746 W / mK) and density (0.32 gr / cm3) better than other compositions. In the experiments performed using 3 kg of wet ice it was found that in 24 hours cooling time, the rice husk coolbox had the lowest temperature of 13.5 ° C and the lowest Styrofoam coolbox temperature was 10.6 ° C.
