Abstract

In welcoming industry 4.0, teachers in vocational education are required to be able to make students be ready to enter the industry. However, the ability of vocational teachers to replace industry 4.0 is not optimal yet. One of the reason is unavailability of learning media to support IoT-based learning. We use an IoT training kit to make teachers easier to understand the Internet of Things. This trainer kit is equipped with an Arduino, some input devices and communication devices. These features are expected to improve teacher understanding of IoT, making it easier to implement it in the teaching-learning process with their students. The methodology used in this journal is quantitative research, with experimental research designs. The type of experiment used is the type of pre-experimental design, in the form of one group pre-test-post-test. The results of this training can improve the learning outcomes from the cognitive realm is 31.45%.

Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) is a conceptual technology that aims to complement the benefits of internet connectivity that connected continuously. IoT is a paradigm that states that each object can be used as a device that can identify, sense, as long as it is connected to the telecommunications network and provides communication with other equipment that connected to the internet. PAR (Participatory Action Research) is a method that involves interested parties in assessing the actions being carried out to make changes for the better. Youth Organization is a place for the development of the young generation that grows from awareness and responsibility, and officially is supported by the government to develop the potential that exists in the area. Electrical Engineering Study Program of Universitas Kristen Maranatha supports Karang Taruna Haur Galur Sukagalih Village, Bandung City, by providing knowledge, competencies, and skills, especially in the Internet of Things technology. Through this training obtained the results that indicate an increase of 30%, specifically about the knowledge of the nature of capacitors, and knowledge of WiFi. While for some knowledge questions such as LDR, pull-up, and some symbols, a quite good correct answer percentage of around 40% (from all participants) was obtained. The motivation of participants to progress and develop is seen from 100% of participants felt training needed to be continued again.

Abstract

AbstractNowadays, the innovation and production of prayer seats can widely be seen around the world particularly in a nation or region with a majority of Muslim population. Demands on this assistive device are everywhere in order to ease and help disabled Muslims to conduct their daily prayers. Most of the existing devices consist of basic systems and sometimes do not accurately meet disabled Muslims’ requirement. The main objective of this research is to design and develop a Solah chair using electronic sensor to assist disabled Muslims to perform Solah and other ritual activities comfortably. This research uses four types of electrical and electronic systems namely the ultrasonic system, DF player system, counter system and IR sensor system to assist disabled Muslims to perform Solah and other ritual activities such as zikir and listening to Quran recitation. Arduino Uno is used to integrate these four subsystems. Arduino as the main micro-controller for this system is chosen for its convenience and capabilities to read and run C-language. It is also a simple platform which is suitable for many IT projects in general.

Abstract

Nowadays, the benefits of using the internet can be felt in society or even in the industrial world, either for business or just for entertainment purposes. Until 2017, Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest internet users globally, with around 112,6 million internet users. On the other hand, many small businesses have not used the internet to advertise their products. This project's main objective is to design and develop a company profile website of CV Rian as one of the brick micro-industry in Nagrek, West Java, enabling people to search and access information easily and quickly. This project uses Waterfall Model as Sofware Development Life Cycle (SDLC), MySQL as the database, and PHP for server-side scripting. The database is used for storing posts, admin data, and images.

Abstract

Activities such as planting and gardening become one of prominent hobbies. An issue of having such well grown plants is the impractical and unachieavable task to monitor 24 hours a day, thus we need a smart gardening system that can monitor the garden on demand. One of the problems in residential gardening systems is how to water the plants while the owner is not at home. Some of people have an adequate knowledge of using IoT to make their life easier. This paper proposes a simple automatic gardening system in watering several plants as programmed. In addition, this system allows human’s manual intervention either locally or remotely via Internet, to control a water pump. To build this smart gardening system, we use Xiaomi home application from Google Play. In this application, we can set the program to water the plants daily with definite time periodic independently.

Abstract

Nowadays, security and gardening systems in densely populated residential areas are generally done manually. The security system in housing sometimes places security posts at street corners that are some distance from citizen’s homes thus they cannot be monitored at all times. Whereas other problem of watering system in citizen’s homes, someone has to water the plants one by one that it is not efficient in  energy, time and water availability thus that it can reduce the quality of the plants. Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept and method for remote control, monitoring, and various tasks. IoT is connected to a network that it can be accessed anywhere which can make things easier. IoT can be used to solve various problems. One of them is security issues and gardening activities. By using smart home technology, the security system is carried out by placing CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) which can be accessed by the home owner, anytime and anywhere the home owner is located. On the other hand, gardening is one of the most popular hobbies. In this field, IoT can be used to monitor and regulate various things to support gardening activities. In this community service activity, we are proposed a simple automatic gardening system for watering some plants programmatically in Pondok Hijau Indah residence. The system also allows manual human intervention either locally or remotely via the internet to control CCTV and water pumps. To build this smart Home system we will use the Xiaomi Home application from Google Play. In this application, we can set a program to control CCTV and water the plants every day at a certain time periodically, in this case, we set every 7 hours to watering the plants.

Abstract

The waste problem is a very complex discussion. Every day thousands of tons of waste are produced by industry and households. The most complicated problem of handling waste today is plastic. Until now, Indonesia is the number two plastic waste-producing country in the world, amounting to 187.2 million tons/year (2015). This problem needs to be solved scientifically, given the pollution generated by plastic waste is getting worse. One of the efforts made is to recycle plastic waste, such as the people of Cinanjung Village, Kutawaringin Village, and Hegarmanah Village, Tanjungsari District, Sumedang Regency. The problems that arise are (1) the process of making "butek" (plastic seeds) is still very traditional which endangers the safety of the craftsman and the surrounding environment, (2) the process of making plastic seeds requires a long time, (3) the production management system is managed simply. The solution offered is designing and making Plastic Lubricating Machines as well as management and technical training in the use of lubricating machines. From the use of the lubricating machine it can be concluded that; (1) the production process is efficient and effective, (2) occupational health and safety are concerned, (3) the quality of the product is better, (4) production management is organized and recorded.
