Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the effect of POE learning model on science process skills of high school students in the material of Newton’s Law motion. The study might benefit to a provide different learning experience that makes students become more active in learning and to improve students' science process skills towards the material being taught. The populations in this study were all students of class IPA X of SMA 5 Bandar Lampung in the even semester of the Academic Year 2018/2019, consisting of 6 classes with a total of 203 students, with samples of class X IPA 1 as the experimental class and X IPA 2 as the control class. Research method of the study was quasi-experimental. The research used a pretest-posttest control group design. The result of the study revealed that the control class using the conventional learning model had an average N-gain of 0.42, while the experimental class using the POE learning model had an average N-gain of 0.72. The effect size in this study, which was 0.71, indicated that the POE learning model has a high effect in this study.  Based on the hypothesis test, it can be concluded that there was an effect of applying the POE learning model to students' science process skills in the material of Newton's Law. The magnitude of the influence of the POE learning model was classified into the high category with the Cohen’s d value of 3.40 and the effect size r of 0.71.

Abstract

One of the traditional utilization forms using diverse plants was a self-care ritual, which was anciently previously found in the tradition performed by women in the Qadriyah Palace of Pontianak Sultanate. The self-care ritual was aimed to treat either health-related problems or common diseases. Therefore, this ethnobotany study of the women self-care ritual was purposely implemented through a folding poster media in the tenth-grade sub-material of Senior High Schools, regarding the utilization of biodiversity in the field of cosmetics and medicines. The learning activity was collaboratively carried out with the teachers, so that students can recognize and preserve the varieties of beneficial plants in their environmental surroundings. The class selected as the subject of this study was class of X IPA 2. The collaborative learning process took place in two meetings; beginning with plan 1, performance 1, reflection 1; and plan 2, performance 2, and reflection 2 simultaneously in each meeting, with a duration of 90 minutes. The first cycle successfully implemented the ethnobotanic self-care-based folding poster media, previously performed by women in the Qadriyah Palace of Pontianak Sultanate’s environment, which had previously been validated by lecturers and teachers and was declared fit for use. Meanwhile, in the cycle 2, the media used was a flipbook. The results showed that collaborative learning using ethnobotany-based media can promote an environmental caring attitude amongst the tenth-grade students of SMAN 10 Pontianak.

Abstract

The textbooks used so far have not utilized learning resources to the fullest, such as the utilization of existing potential in the surrounding environment, planting values, and environmental awareness.Biodiversity textbook based on ethnobiology studies of the Suku Dayak Losarang is a product of the development of textbooks that can be used in biology learning on the concept of biodiversity.This study aims to look at the feasibility of biodiversity textbooks based on the ethnobiology study of the Suku Dayak Losarang Tribe and see the effectiveness of the textbook in biology learning in class X senior high school. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) with eight stages of development models. Product Textbooks are validated by experts and practitioners using validation sheets. The validation results show that the book is suitable for use because it is good in terms of content worthiness, linguistics, and presentation. The textbook was tested on a small scale test and continued with a large scale test. The results of the effectiveness test using the different test showed that the biodiversity textbook based on the Suku Dayak Losarang was effectively used in biologylearning. Student responses to textbooks also scored high on all indicators.AbstrakBuku ajar yang digunakan selama ini belum memanfaatkan sumber belajar secara maksimal, seperti pemanfaatan potensi yang ada di lingkungan sekitar, penanaman nilai, dan kesadaran lingkungan hidup. Buku ajar biodiversitas berbasis kajian etnobiologi Suku Dayak Losarang merupakan produk pengembangan buku ajar yang dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran biologi pada konsep keanekaragaman hayati. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kelayakan buku ajar biodiversitas berbasis kajian etnobiologi Suku Dayak Losarang dan melihat efektivitas buku ajar tersebut dalam pembelajaran biologi di kelas X. Jenis penelitian ini ialah Research and Development (R&D) dengan 10 tahapan model pengembangan. Produk Buku ajar divalidasi oleh para ahli dan praktisi dengan menggunakan lembar validasi. Hasil validasi menunjukkan buku layak digunakan karena sudah baik dalam hal kelayakan isi, kebahasaan, dan penyajian. Saran dari validator dijadikan acuan dalam merevisi buku ajar biodiversitas Suku Dayak Losarang. Buku ajar hasil revisi diujicobakan pada uji skala kecil (satu sekolah) dan dilanjutkan uji skala besar (tiga sekolah). Hasil uji efektivitas menggunakan uji t menunjukkan bahwa buku ajar biodiversitas berbasis Suku Dayak Losarang efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran biologi. Respon siswa terhadap buku ajar juga mendapat nilai tinggi pada semua indikator. Artinya buku ajar biodiversitas berbasis kajian Suku Dayak Losarang dapat digunakan pada pembelajaran keanekaragaman hayati di kelas X SMA dan dapat disebarluaskan khususnya di Kabupaten Indramayu. Kata kunci: Keanekaragaman hayati, Buku ajar, Suku Dayak Losarang, Etnobiologi, Pembelajaran Biologi

Abstract

The research aimed to need analysis of developing Basic Chemistry learning tools based on inquiry. This was descriptive research. The subjects were a syllabus, two lectures, and 43 students of the Third Semester in Academic Year 2018/2019 on Science Education Study Program, Ganesha University of Education. The object was Basic Chemistry topics, the materials that are difficult for the students and their cause, lectures constraint in learning, and lectures view about learning based on inquiry. Data were collected by questionnaire and documentation. Data were analyzed by descriptively. The result showed that the Basic Chemistry topics include: material and its' change, atomic structure, periodic system of elements, chemical bonding and molecular structure, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium, acid and base, hydrolysis, buffer, colligative properties, colloid, redox and electrochemistry, elemental chemistry, and organics chemistry. All of the topics were considered difficult by a certain number of students. Most of student difficulties were found in the topics: stoichiometry, chemical kinetics, and colligative properties (58.14%), but the smallest in the topics: material and its' change, and atomic structure (13.95%). The students’ difficulties are caused by the abstract materials (23.26%), low of mathematics ability of students (34.88%), the students learning only for doing task/test (59.53%), low students’ prior-knowledge (46,51%), the students, habit to memorizing learning (51,16%), the students did not reflect their learning (53,48%), and the students easily forget the concepts learned (65,12). The lectures constraint in learning comprises designing and implementing of learning and assessment. The lectures said that the Basic Chemistry learning tools based on inquiry are important to be developed to facilitate the students in constructing the knowledge.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan memerlukan analisis pengembangan alat pembelajaran Kimia Dasar berdasarkan inkuiri. Ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah silabus, dua kuliah, dan 43 mahasiswa Semester Ketiga Tahun Akademik 2018/2019 tentang Program Studi Pendidikan Ilmu Pengetahuan, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha. Objeknya adalah topik Kimia Dasar, materi yang sulit bagi siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa topik Kimia Dasar meliputi: bahan dan perubahannya, struktur atom, sistem periodik elemen, ikatan kimia dan struktur molekul, stoikiometri, termokimia, kinetika kimia, keseimbangan kimia, asam dan basa, hidrolisis, penyangga, sifat koligatif , koloid, redoks dan elektrokimia, kimia unsur, dan kimia organik. Semua topik dianggap sulit oleh sejumlah siswa. Sebagian besar kesulitan siswa ditemukan dalam topik: stoikiometri, kinetika kimia, dan sifat koligatif (58,14%), tetapi yang terkecil dalam topik: materi dan perubahannya, dan struktur atom (13,95%). Kesulitan siswa disebabkan oleh materi abstrak (23,26%), rendahnya kemampuan matematika siswa (34,88%), siswa belajar hanya untuk mengerjakan tugas / tes (59,53%), rendahnya pengetahuan awal siswa (46,51) %), siswa, kebiasaan menghafal pembelajaran (51,16%), siswa tidak mencerminkan pembelajarannya (53,48%), dan siswa mudah melupakan konsep yang dipelajari (65,12). Kendala kuliah dalam pembelajaran terdiri dari perancangan dan implementasi pembelajaran dan penilaian. Dosen yang merupakan subjek penelitian menyatakan bahwa alat pembelajaran Kimia Dasar berdasarkan penyelidikan adalah penting untuk dikembangkan guna memfasilitasi siswa dalam membangun pengetahuan.Kata Kunci: analisis kebutuhan, kimia dasar, inkuiri, kesulitan belajar, kendala belajar

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the effect of the use of LCDS-based interactive electronic schoolbook (ESB) on atomic nuclei material with a scientific approach to Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) and scientific attitudes of students and to investigate the average HOTS value of students after both using interactive and non-interactive ESB. The research design was a Non-equivalent Control Group Design, involving students as the research subjects from one of the State High Schools in Kotabumi, with XII IPA 5 as an experimental class and XII IPA 4 as a control class. Data processing techniques were performed by T-test. The results of the HOTS pretest-posttest students in the experimental class revealed that the Sig. (2-Tailed) value was smaller than 0.05, which was equal to 0,000, indicating that there was an effect of the use of LCDS-based interactive ESB with a scientific approach to the material of the atomic nuclei on HOTS students. The test results of the differences in scientific attitudes of students between the two classes enclosed that the Sig. (2-Tailed) value of 0.001 was smaller than 0.05. This implied the great influence of the use of LCDS-based interactive ESB on the scientific attitude of students. HOTS results of students in both classes also obtained the Sig. (2-Tailed) value of 0,000, stating that there was a significant difference in the average N-gain HOTS value of students who learned with LCDS-based interactive ESB against the non-interactive model.

Abstract

Every year, high school students of class XII who plan to continue their study program to the University always feel hesitant in determining the field of study to be chosen. Therefore, this research was conducted with the aim of making modeling decision making in determining the direction of Islamic religious education seen from the interests and talents of students. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive method and survey method. The participants of this research were high school / MAN / equivalent students in Bandar Lampung. The results showed that the Decision variable Choosing the Department of Islamic Education was influenced by interests and talents with the model  + 0.301  (talent). AbstrakSetiap tahun, siswa kelas XII SMA yang berencana melanjutkan program studi ke Universitas selalu merasa bimbang dalam menentukan bidang studi yang harus di pilih. Oleh karena nya penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan membuat pemodelan pengambilan keputusan dalam penentuan jurusan pendidikan agama islam dilihat dari minat dan bakat siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kuantitatif dan metode survei. Objek penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswi SMA/MAN/Sederajat di Bandar Lampung. Abstract

This study aims to find out how the process development of cooperative learning tools oriented to brain-based learning to train thinking skills critical mathematical students. The learning toolswdeveloped consisted of lesson plan, worksheet, and learning achievement test. Thiswdevelopment research method uses a modified 4-Df model which consistss of define,ydesign, andtdevelop. The result of this study is that the cooperative learning tool is brain-based learning that is good because the validator team states that the learning device that has been developed is valid, and the implementation of the test, the device meets certain requirements and THB is reliable, valid and sensitive.AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran kooperatif berorientasi brain based learning untuk melatih kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan meliputi: RPP, LKS dan THB. Penelitian pengembangan dilakukan dengan menggunakan model 4-D yang telah dimodifikasi yang terdiri dari define, design, dan develop. Kesimpulan yang didapatkan adalah perangkat pembelajaran kooperatif berorientasi brain based learning yang baik telah didapatkan karena tim validator menyatakan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan valid, dan pelaksanaan uji coba, perangkat memenuhi syarat-syarat tertentu dan tes hasil belajar reliabel, valid dan sensitif.Kata Kunci: Pengembangan Perangkat Pembelajaran, Pembelajaran Kooperatif, Brain Based Learning, Logaritma, Berpikir Kritis Matematis

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in learning outcomes of students in 4th grade Seluma 28th Public Elementary School on natural science subjects classifying animals by using the inquiry method. The research subjects 18 students, consisting of 10 male students and 8 female students. This type of research is classroom action research. This research consists of three stages, namely 1). Planning, 2). Actions, 3). Observation, and 4) Reflection. This research was conducted in three cycles, namely Pre-Cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The data collection technique was carried out by observing what was done by the teacher and the supervisor 2. From the results of the research conducted, it was seen an increase in student learning outcomes from each cycle. In the pre-cycle implementation, the average value of student learning outcomes is 64.44 with 50% completeness. In cycle I the average value of student learning outcomes is 76.11 with 72% completeness. In cycle II the average value of student learning outcomes is 88.89 with 100% completeness. From the results of this learning improvement study, it can be seen that the application of the inquiry method to the subjects of Natural Sciences classifying Animals can improve the learning outcomes of Grade IV students at SD Negeri 28 Seluma.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 28 Seluma pada mata pelajaran IPA pokok bahasan Menggolongkan Hewan dengan menggunakan metode inquiry. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa-siswi kelas IV SD Negeri 28 Seluma yang berjumlah 18 orang yang terdiri atas 10 siswa laki-laki dan 8 siswi perempuan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga tahapan yaitu 1) Perencanaan, 2) Tindakan, 3) Observasi, dan 4) Refleksi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam tiga siklus, yaitu Pra Siklus, Siklus I, dan Siklus II. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara melakukan observasi yang dilakukan oleh guru dan supervisor 2. Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan terlihat adanya peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dari setiap siklus. Pada pelaksanaan pra siklus, nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa 64,44 dengan ketuntasan 50%. Pada siklus I nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa 76,11 dengan ketuntasan 72%. Pada siklus II nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa 88,89 dengan ketuntasan 100%. Dari hasil penelitian perbaikan pembelajaran ini terlihat bahwa penerapan metode inquiry pada mata pelajaran IPA pokok bahasan Menggolongkan Hewan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 28 Seluma.Kata Kunci: Metode Inquiry: IPA; Hasil belajar; Penggolongan Hewan.

Abstract

This study was aimed to analyse the ability of prospective Biology teachers to master the learning concepts and Biology Science materials in Junior High Schools. The used method in this study was a descriptive analysis, involving some prospective teachers (the students who were taking micro-teaching courses (PPL-1) in even semester of 2017/2018 academic year) in the Biology Education Study Programme FKIP Untan, as the research subjects. A total of 30 university students with GPA ≥ 3.00 were randomly selected. The instrument in this study was an ability assessment of learning concepts and materials of Biology Science in junior high schools. The data analysis was done in descriptively qualitative and quantitative methods; including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, data analysis using means and percentages, and conclusions eventually. The results showed that the prospective Biology teachers in mastering the concept of learning obtained an average value of 76.89 with A, B, and C grades respectively, 46.67%, 40.00%, and 13.33%. For mastering the biology science concept, it was obtained an average value of 75.73 with grade A, B, and C respectively, 33.33%, 46.67%, and 20.00%. It was certainly concluded that the ability of prospective biology teachers in mastering the concepts of learning and the materials of Biology Science was classified into the good category.

Abstract

Pocketbook based on Mind Map is a supporting book with a size smaller than the standard size, which is systematically in accordance with the working principle of the brain and does not require extensive space in storing it. The aims of studies to explore the potential for developing biology pocketbook based on Mind Map (BIOMAP). This is a descriptive qualitative study with survey methods. The Data collected using the instrument developed that was validated by two experts and tested on 51 students and two high school biology teachers in Jakarta.  The results obtained explained that around 72.5% of respondents answered that biological material was difficult to learn. For difficult material, 53.8% of respondents answered Animalia and Plantae. Biological learning difficulties are dominated by the amount of memorization in the material according to the opinion of 72.1% of respondents. Teacher respondents argue that additional learning resources can stimulate students to improve their learning outcomes. The existence of various additional learning resources it is hoped that it can be a solution to the learning problems experienced by students. Based on these data, it can be concluded that students need additional innovative and interesting learning resources accompanied by mind maps. AbstrakBuku saku berbasis Mind Map  merupakan buku pendukung berukuran lebih kecil dari buku standar, yang secara sistematis sesuai dengan prinsip kerja otak dan tidak memerlukan ruang luas dalam menyimpannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi potensi pengembangan buku saku biologi berdasarkan Mind Map (BIOMAP). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode survei. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan instrumen yang telah divalidasi oleh dua ahli dan diuji pada 51 siswa dan dua guru biologi SMA di Jakarta. Hasil yang diperoleh menjelaskan bahwa sekitar 72,5% responden menjawab bahwa materi biologi sulit dipelajari. Untuk materi yang sulit, 53,8% responden menjawab materi Animalia dan Plantae. Kesulitan belajar biologi disebabkan banyaknya hafalan pada materi tersebut menurut pendapat 72,1% responden. Responden guru berpendapat bahwa sumber belajar tambahan dapat merangsang siswa untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar mereka. Adanya berbagai sumber belajar tambahan diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi bagi masalah belajar yang dialami siswa.
