Abstract

Technology adoption and crops index ofpepper basedfarm¬ ing system in Nangabulik Central KalimantanA research on technology adoption, technology demontration and crops index of pepper based farming system was conducted in UPT Nangabu¬ lik, Central Kalimantan by using survey method. The purpose of the research was to show : (a) the role of technology demontration in increasing the willingness of the fanners in adopting the technology; (b) the crops index of the pepper based farming system as an indicator for income level. The data were analyzed by using nonparametics Wilcoxon sign rank test and cropping intencity index (CII). The results showed that the technology demontration of pepper based farming system had a significant effect in increasing the willingness of the farmers in adoption the technology. So that, the develop¬ ment of the pepper based farming system in IP I Nangabulik would go faster. An economic of scale aea of the pepper based farming system in Nangabulik would be achieved in around two years. The crops index of the pepper based fanning system was 215.30% meaning the level of eiciency of the pepper based farming system in using the land was 215.30% higher than the traditional farming system in Nangabulik. In other words the pepper based farming system would incease the farmers income by 215.30% (ceteis paibus). Compaing with the land in Java cropped with paddy and had crops index of 300% the pepper based farming system in Nangabulik would give higher income to the farmers after 5 years.

Abstract

Response of three bushy black pepper vaieties to organic fetilizerResponse of three bushy black pepper varieties to organic fertilizer was studied in Sukamulya Research Insulation, rom February 1992 to August 1995. The plant materials used wee pepper cuttings deived rom generative branches. The field tial with factorial treatments was designed in a random¬ ized block with three replicates and 9 plants per plot The varieties tested were : a) Lampung Daun Lebar (LDL), b) Merapin, and c) Kuching. The organic fertilizer used wee : (a) Control, (b) 800 g OST (organic soil treatment) per plant per year and (c) 20 kg cattle manure per plant per year. The esults indicated that Kuching it the best in terms of the number and length of pimary branches, canopy area, number ofberries per spike, and spike length. Fertilizer ■tauuuuts as well as its interaction with varieties had no significant efect on yield at the first harvest. Catle manure had significant effect on to spiked and dried berries it die second harvest However, based on toul production of dried teed*, var. LDL and Kuching gave a significantly higher yield compared with Merapin.

Abstract

Return to scale and relative economic eficiency of coconut cropping pattern at farmer level in Tasikmalaya District, West JavaInformation about the return to scale condition in coconut cropping pattern production process is very important to determine the farm measure¬ ment due to economic eficiency of farming system. This also occurs in different relative economic efficiency in the inter category in participated fanner based on their mixed cropping area. For that reason, it is urgent to carry oat the study in Cipatujah, Sindangkerta, and Cikawung Ading villages, Cipatujah Sub Distict, and Kelapa Oenep, Kujang, and Saimukti villages, Karang Nunggal Sim District, Tasikmalays District, West Java This study was conducted from June-October 1997 using survey method. Data collected consisted of primary and secundary data. Pimary data included cost of production both coconut as main crop and intercrop (hired labour, family labour, fetilizer and pesticide) sod farm income (production and sale of production). The result of the study showed that hired labour, family labour, fertilizer and pesticide afect the profit earned rom coconut cropping pattern significantly. While the return to scale of coconut cropping patten position on increasing return to scale and did not show significant different in the application of input factors both of large farm ( • 1.145 ha) and small farm (< 1.143 ha).

Abstract

The efect ofsowing date interval on the growth andyield of four sesame UnesThe expeiment was conducted in Asembagus Experiment Garden. Baayuputih, Situbondo Distic from August 1994 o April 1993. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of five sowing date intervals on the growth and yield of four sesame (Sesamum indicum L) hues on dry land and dry climate The experiment wss arranged in split plot design with four replications. The main plot consisted of five diferent sowing datemlervab ie. (1)(WT) November 15. 1994, (2) (WT + 20) December 5, 1994, (3) (WT + 40) December 23, 1994, (4) (WT + 60) January 14, 1995 and (5) (WT * 80) February 3, 1993. While the sub plot consisted of four sesame lines i.e. (A) Pachequino, (B) Venezuela, (C) Sesamindo and (D)Grati KKO. The treatments of sowing dates and sesame lines afected the plants height, banch number, harvesting time, plant population, capsule number, weight of 1 000 seeds, weight of seed per capsule, weight of husk pet capsule, and yield of seed. Sesamindo planted at early wet season (first week of December) gave the highest seed yield (1 240 kg/ha).

Abstract

Back cross hibridization of Temanggung tobacco for in¬ creasing the lincat disease resistanceThe back cross hibidization of Temanggung tobacco lines for increas¬ ing the " lincat" disease resistances was conducted Temanggung in 1997. The aim of this experiment was to produce some new Temanggung tobacco lines which ae resistant to root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) and bacteial wilt (Pseudomonas solanacearum) and have high productivity and grade index. These treatments consisted of eleven selected tobacco lines from the segregating progenies of crossing beetween Virginia and Temanggung to¬ bacco and the two Temanggung tobacco cua'vars arranged in randomized block design with three replications. The esults of this experiment showed that thee new tobacco lines (BC3.C-51, BC3.C-86, BC3.SG-86) were esis¬ tant toMeloidogyne spp. and P. solanacearum. The productivity of BC3.C-86 and BC3.SG-86 lines inceased 60.12% and 38.69% compared with Genjah Kemloko line. The productivity of BC3.C-5I line was equal to Genjah Kemloko, its quality raised 9.18%, and early loweing (dwarf* 69.65 days).
