Abstract

Since Indonesia implemented regional autonomy, part of the financial authority was delegated to the regions so that the regions could independently optimize their regional financial potential, mainly from taxes and levies as their main source of income. Ambon City as an area that has long implemented autonomy still faces the problem of how to optimize the potential of PAD, especially through taxes and levies. This study aims to analyze strategies for optimizing taxes and levies in Ambon City. This study uses two research instruments, namely SWOT analysis and Model Vector Error Correction Model. Estimated results are then developed by forecasting for the next 10 years. The results show that both taxes and levies experienced a significant increase but in certain periods experienced fluctuations influenced by several macroeconomic variables.

Abstract

Farmer groups have an important role in the economic empowerment of the group members. This is based on the view that, in general, the farmer group members are still entangled by various obstacles so that efforts to develop their farming businesses are often not optimal and ultimately affect the level of welfare of their own households. This research was done in a quantitative method with a case study approach studying Wijaya Farmer Group in Waiheru village, Ambon City. This research location was selected because Waiheru village was one of the largest vegetable producing or supplying areas in Ambon City. There were 20 key informants participated from a total of 40 members of Wijaya Farmer Group. The data was analyzed following stages proposed by Moustakes (1994). The results show that the income of Wijaya Farmer Group from the vegetable production was still relatively high at IDR 19,800,000 per year with an average annual income of IDR 64,223,500. Meanwhile, Wijaya Farmer Group was in the ‘fairly playing a role’ category in empowering the group members’ household economy. In addition, the strategies applied for the development of farmer groups included developing the creativity of farmer group members and the access to capital.

The results are in the form of identification of problems faced by the fishermen, solutions and potentials of the fishery sector through the National Fish Barn program as a way to overcome the poverty. Abstract

Small and Medium Entreprises (SMEs) play important and strategic roles in the regional economy, as well as at the national level. The SMEs refer to productive public economic operations proven to be resilient in times of crises. At the regional level, the presence of SMEs has indirectly absorbed labor and lowered unemployment, which is a constraint to economic progress. However, at the regional level, they face insignificant challenges in expanding their business, particularly in terms of production capacity and marketing strategy. The Community Service Team of Department of Development Economics of Faculty of Business and Economics of Pattimura University, provided training and science and technology diffusion. The training was delivered through counseling on improving the production capacity and marketing strategy while the science and technology diffusion was spread through the development of nutmeg syrup products. Outcomes of the Community Service activity included identifying the potential and problems developing the SMEs, as well as providing solutions by providing a more appealing container for the nutmeg syrup than the previous one, and increasing group members’ knowledge of increasing the production capacity and marketing strategy for the nutmeg syrup products.

Abstract

This article highlights the meaning of ecclesiastical teachings based on the Bible as the Word of God in an effort to meet the needs of the poor in the Negeri (village) Booi congregation through the tradition or local wisdom of “nutmeg collecting”. This study employs Max Weber’s point of view on social action, where for every social activity carried out, there is always an internal motivation (Vertehen). This study was done in a qualitative manner with an ethnographic approach conducted in April 2022 – December 2022. The data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The data was analyzed following the stages proposed by Chariri with source triangulation as a strategy in examining the data validity. The results show that the local wisdom of “nutmeg collecting” could be used as a strategy in overcoming poverty problems, especially related to income inequality experienced by women. In the mainstream (classical/neoclassical) economic views, the behavior of this indigenous community was certainly very detrimental, as it was related to efforts to maximize income for oneself. However, on the contrary, this local wisdom also emphasized the needs of others which were supported by the religious teachings they believed in. This condition also emphasized that the presence of the local wisdom supported by the religious teachings was an informal insurance that the needs of the poor women of the indigenous community would always be met at any time through the availability of fallen nutmeg.
