Abstract

Every parent expected their child to grow and develop well. Most of the children using a bag for bringing their school necessities every day. It needs attention because if they are using a backpack more than 10 percent of their weight, it can have a negative impact on them. Heavy backpack causes the child to bend forward to support the weight on their back. it will change the curvature of the spine and will cause back pain. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the weight of the backpack and low back pain in children ages 10 to 12 years old. A descriptive correlation study was applied to achieve the purpose of this study. The participants were 75 children from elementary school in Bahal Batu Barungun tengah in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Data was collected from Februari to June 2018. Digital scale was used measured the weight of the backpack and Low back pain was assessed using a validated questionnaire. The association of low back pain and backpack weight was analyzed using Chi-square test. The results showed that the majority of the weight of children ages 10 to 12 years old is heavy (68.0%) and low back pain in children ages 10 to 12 years old (80%). There is a relationship between the weight of a backpack and low back pain in children ages 10 to 12 years old (p <0.05). Suggestion for all parents to check the weight of a backpack their children bring to school

Abstract

Tekanan darah tinggi (hipertensi) merupakan masalah besar di Dunia, tidak hanya di negara barat tetapi juga di Indonesia. Kepatuhan dalam meminum obat berperan penting dalam pengobatan hipertensi dengan tujuan pengobatan pada penderita hipertensi adalah untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup pasien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kepatuhan pengobatan hipertensi dengan kualitas hidup pasien stroke. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian Analitik corelasi dengan rancangan cross sectional dengan populasi 71 responden. Hasil penelitian dengan uji chi-square didapatkan nilai p value=0,212 (P<0,05) yang berarti ada hubungan antara kepatuhan pengobatan hipertensi dengan kualitas hidup pasien stroke. Disarankan bagi penderita hipertensi agar mengetahui informasi antara kepatuhan pengobatan hipertensi dengan kualitas hidup pasien stroke.

Abstract

Breast self-examination is an easy way for early detection of breast cancer for all women after they are menstruation. This examination will increase awareness of the importance of being aware of abnormal lumps in the breast. The aims of this study is to determine the effect of education about breast self- examination with video media on the level of knowledge on high school students. This research method was used quasy experimental research design with pre-test and post-test with control group. The population were 15 student in YPI high school Amir Hamzah and 15 student in Kartika I-1 high schools. Random Sampling sampling technique. Researchers used paired t-test and independent t-test test with a <0.05 and 95% CI. The result: the statistical test before and after the intervention: giving explanation with media video are p value =0.09 (<0.05) and in the control group without giving media video with p value 0.07 (<0.05).

Abstract

Triage merupakan cara pemilahan penderita korban gawat darurat berdasarkan skala prioritas yang didasarkan kepada kebutuhan terapi korban dan sumber daya yang tersedia. Kebutuhan terapi korban didasarkan pada penilaian kondisi pasien tersebut dimana penilaian tersebut akan menggambarkan derajat keparahannya. Oleh karena itu setiap perawat pelaksana di IGD membutuhkan peningkatan pendidikan tentang triage yang secara terus menerus. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendidikan dengan media (leaflet) terhadap tingkat pengetahuan perawat tentang triage. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pre test - post test quasi eksperiment design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 7 orang dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Hasil Uji statistic dengan Paired t-test didapatkan nilai p value 0,023 <0,05, yang artinya adalah terdapat perbedaan tingkat pengetahuan yang signifikan sebelum dan sesudah diberikan pendidikan triage dengan media leaflet. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa setelah diberikan pendidikan triage dengan media leaflet perawat mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan. Disarankan kepada perawat IGD untuk selalu mengupgrade pendidikannya tentang triage melalui pelatihan sehingga kualitas pelayanan kegawatdaruratan akan meningkat.

Abstract

Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) is a worldwide health problem. One of the renal replacement therapies is hemodialysis. This therapy is an action used on the client's CRF to remove toxic substances, excess fluid to improve electrolyte imbalance. Haemodialiysis therapy have positive and negative effect. However, in addition there are positive effects of hemodialysis therapy that is lived and the negative effects that can affect the quality of life of patients. The aim of this study is to examine the lenght of haemodialysis therapy and quality of life in chronic renal failure patients on hemodialysis therapy, and their relationship. The participant were 75 patient, the data were collected in march 2018 using whoqol-BREFF questionnaire which explored the quality of life and the data from medical record was taken to explored the lenght of haemodialysis therapy. Then the data was analyzed using pearson produc't moment. Result, the lenght of haemodialysis therapy was <12 months (52%) and quality of life in chronic renal failure patients on hemodialysis therapy was poor (67,%). There is no statistically relationship between lenght of haemodialysis therapy and quality of life in chronic renal failure patients with p value = 0.115 (> 0.05). Conclusion, the quality of life of patients on hemodialysis patiens due to chronic renal failure has no correlation with the lenght of haemodialysis therapy. Suggestion, need to explore the factors related to quality of life in chronic renal failure patients on hemodialysis therapy.

Abstract

Background: Head injuries are a major cause of death and disability because of trauma, it happed in many countries of the world. The case of head injuries in the Emergency department, need immediate managing to victim to prevent further complications. The Nurses required to assess and recognize abnormality as soon as possible and further management of the victim to save their life. Through the physiological status. The patient's physiological status is the best way to recognize the prognosis, such as GCS, systolic blood pressure, respiratory rate, body temperature, and blood glucose levels while admitted to emergency  ward.Purpose: To analyze and determine (simultaneously) a predicting factor the most dominant influencing significantly of outcome following head injuryMethods: A retrospective approach by analyze patient's medical records on January-December period in 2018 at H. Adam Malik General Hospital Medan. The study sample comprised 166 medical records which taken by purposive sampling technique with the following criteria: new admission (not referral), there were available data such GCS data, systolic blood pressure, respiratory rate, body temperature, blood glucose levels within 7 days under treatment.Results: Logistic regression test found that GSC (p 0.000; OR 2.583), systolic blood pressure (p 0.024; OR 0.947), and blood sugar levels (0.038; OR 0.982) had a significant effect on the mortality. The nurse must pay attention in handling patient head injuries who have a lower GCS scores and systolic blood pressure, following by high blood sugar levels.Conclusion: By evaluation of GCS, systolic blood pressure and blood sugar levels can predict the patient's current condition. The lower the GCS score, the higher the risk of death by 2.583 times and the lower the systolic blood pressure, the greater the risk of mortality by 0.947 times. The higher the blood sugar level, the risk of death increased by 0.982 times.

Abstract

Background: Eating pattern of gout arthritis patients will determine the amount of uric acid levels in their body. Adherence to a purine diet is one of the efforts made to prevent recurrence or assist healing on gout arthritis patients.Purpose: To determine the relationship between eating pattern based on type of food and adherence to purines diet in gout arthritis patients and the relationship between eating patterns based on eating frequency and adherence to purines diet in gout arthritis patients.Method: This descriptive analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study about 40 patients and the sample was taken using accidental sampling technique. The sample size was calculated by using the Yamane Taro formula so that the results were 36 participants. Questionnaires were used for data collection and the data were analyzed by using Pearson correlation with 95% confidence level (CI) with p value <0.05.Results: base on the statistical analysis, the result of this study is that there is no relationship between eating pattern based on diet based on type of food and adherence to purines diet in gout arthritis patients with p value 0.381 (> 0.05) and there is a relationship between eating pattern based on eating frequency and adherence to purines diet in gout arthritis patients with p value 0.002 (< 0.05).Conclusion: There is no relationship between eating pattern based on type of food and adherence to purines diet in gout arthritis patients and there is a relationship between eating patterns based on eating frequency and adherence to  purines diet in gout arthritis patients.

Abstract

Background: There is a change in people's lifestyles where excessive energy intake and lack of physical activity make a person easy to be in a state of obesity. High fat levels will limit the expenditure of uric acid. The buildup of uric acid in the blood causes joint pain which is a symptom of gouty arthritis. This community service aims to provide education to the community for controlling obesity as a triggering factor for gout arthritis. Methods: The activity was carried out using a demonstration method of measuring weight and height and calculating BMI to detect obesity. Results: The results of this activity showed that 100% of the community was able to demonstrate the measurement of weight and height and 93% were able to calculate BMI correctly to detect obesity. Conclusion: Counseling on measuring height and weight has increased the ability of Sari Mutiara Indonesia University students to control obesity as a triggering factor for gout arthritis.

Abstract

Introduction: Head injury is leading cause of death and disability. Brain cells around the injury will be functionally impaired. If the brain was widespread and bleeding, it has an impact on the failure of blood pressure controls mechanisms because blood pressure is one of the indicators in the prognosis of head injury patients. Objective: the community was able to identify blood pressure measurement, the community was able to say hello before taking blood pressure, the community was able to prepare blood pressure equipment, the community was able to preparing client before taking blood pressure, and the community was able to taking blood pressure on client. Method: a demonstration method was use in this community service. Result: the community was able to identify blood pressure measurement in good category (88.9%),, The community was able to say hello before taking blood pressure in good category (88.9%), the community was able to prepare blood pressure equipment in good category (74.1%), the community was able to prepare client before taking blood pressure in good category (74.1%),  and the community was able to taking blood pressure the very good category (63.0%). Conclusion: The activity of demonstration taking blood pressure by community to predicting cerebral disorders in people with head injury was effective

Abstract

Obesity is often associated with an increase in uric acid. This occurs through the process of decreasing the excretion of uric acid so that there is a buildup in the blood. This situation will trigger the occurrence of gout arthritis. This quantitative descriptive research aims to determine the characteristic picture of demography and obesity as risk factors for gout arthritis in students. Sampling was carried out with a total sampling so that 68 respondents were involved in this study. Data collection was carried out using metering tools and scales to obtain the respondent's body mass index. The collected data were analyzed using frequency distributions. Results; there were 3 respondents who were obese (4.4%), all aged 10-20 years, female 2 respondents (2.9%) and 1 person male (1.5%). Conclusion: based on the description of demographic characteristics and obesity, there are 4.4% of respondents who have a risk of gout arthritis in students
