Abstract

The present study was carried out to analyze the digital literacy for pre-service natural science teachers through a workshop on optimizing the use of Microsoft office software. This study explored an experimental method with the one-group pretest-posttest design. The current research adopted 25 students as the pre-service natural science teachers in the Natural Sciences Study Program of the Tarbiyah and Teaching Faculty of the Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau State Islamic University. The data were collected through providing instruments of multiple-choice tests on the pretest and posttest, questionnaire, and interview to measure the improvement of digital literacy. To analyze the data, a technique to calculate the mean score of the normalized gain (N-gain) was performed. The findings disclosed that the mean score of N-gain digital literacy for pre-service natural science teachers was 0.70 with the high category. Based on results obtained in this line of research, it is therefore concluded that there was an improvement in the digital literacy for pre-service natural science teachers with high category through the workshop on optimizing the use of Microsoft Office software.

Abstract

 This research aims to analyze the application of problem solving learning models to improve students' higher-order thinking skills in science-physics learning. This research was conducted using a meta-analysis method. The steps taken are collecting scientific articles from accredited national journals in Sinta 1 to Sinta 4 relating to research topics, grouping journal articles, and analyzing data obtained descriptively. Based on the results of the analysis it was concluded that the application of the problem solving learning model can improve student learning outcomes by an average of 55.45 in the medium category. For the group of articles with the dependent variable creative thinking skills, critical thinking skills, science process skills, problem solving skills and metacognition abilities, all of which are classified as higher order thinking skills, an average increase of 56.65 in the medium category.

Abstract

The steps of physics problems solving consist of making a useful description, determining physics approach, applying specific application of physics, performing mathematical procedures, and evaluating logical progression of the problem solving process. Physics is closely related to everyday problems, including rotational dynamics problems. Bachelor of physics education must have conceptual understanding to create learnings that improve students' problem solving skills. Therefore, this study aimed to measure the problem-solving skills of bachelors of physics education involving 10 bachelors of physics education who were working as science teachers. This study was a descriptive study with data collection using essay question. The results showed that there were difficulties in solving problems consisted of difficulties in drawing vectors and operating them and difficulties in understanding the rotational dynamics concepts. These results indicated the importance of learning and improving conceptual understanding as the main asset in teaching the material for bachelors of physics education.

Abstract

Student inability to multi-representation in science learning in junior high school and teacher ability to provide teaching materials according to the characteristics of students who have difficulty in multi-representation causes the learning process cannot achieve the desired results. It affects the low learning outcomes and students' cognitive abilities. Therefore, this study aims to determine the types of multi-representation-based teaching materials in science learning in junior high schools and the effectiveness of using multi-representation-based teaching materials used in science learning in junior high schools. The method used is systematic literature review using PRISMA diagrams. The database used to search for literature uses two digital libraries, namely Google Scholar and Garuda. For the selected literature to be relevant, it uses the keyword teaching materials and multi-representation. The next step is to get scientific articles published from 2016 to 2021 which discuss the use of multi-representation-based teaching materials in science learning in junior high schools. The results of the scientific article search contained eight articles that would be analyzed and synthesized. The analytical technique used is the narrative method by grouping the extracted data. The results show the types of multi-representation-based teaching materials in science learning are printing and non-printing teaching materials. Printed teaching materials are modules, books, and worksheets, while non-printed teaching materials are in the form of web simulations. The use of multi-representation-based teaching materials has proven to be effective in the science learning process in junior high schools.

Abstract

Sex education is needed due to increasing in teenager's sexually deviant behavior increase. The integration of Islamic values in biology learning is teachers' strategy to prevent free sex deviant behavior in the disrupssion digital era. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the implementation of integrated Islamic biology learning with the team teaching method on students' understanding of sex education at SMA 12 Pekanbaru. The research design was a Quasi-experimental with one shot case study design. Population and sample are students at SMAN 12 Pekanbaru. Collection methods using tests and question-naires. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistics. The results showed that the average level of understanding of students' sex education in the knowledge domain of students was 73% with a good category and an attitude domain of 79% with a good category. It can be concluded that the implementation of integrated Islamic biology learning with the team teaching method has a positive contribution to students' understanding of sex education. Biology and Islamic education teachers can collaborate in designing sex education learning as an effort to prevent adolescent sexual deviant behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Effect of the Implementation of the Cooperative Learning Model on the Science Process Skills of Junior High School Students From a Gender Perspective. The research method used was a meta-analysis with a sample of 15 articles in accredited journals. The results of the meta-analysis prove the influence of cooperative learning models on students' science process skills. While from the gender perspective there is no significant difference in the treatment of group learning settings based on gender on the ability of students' science process skills.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis Pengaruh Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Kooperative Terhadap Keterampilan Proses Sains Siswa SMP Ditinjau Dari Perspektif Gender. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah adalah meta-analisis dengan sampel 15 artikel di jurnal terakreditasi. Hasil penelitian meta-analisis membuktikan adanya pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperative terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa. Sedangkan dilihat dari presfektif gender, model pembelajaran kooperative tidak memberikan perbedaan yang signifikan pada perlakuan pengaturan kelompok belajar terhadap kemampuan keterampilan proses sains siswa.

Abstract

The understanding of spiritual doctrine becomes the reason, and it causes an escalation in violence in the name of religion. Misinterpreting the Qur'an verses causes the doer to legalize the violence they do. This article presents the responses of Islamic higher education students in Riau Province and Riau Islands about the interpretation of violent verses in the Qur’an and Hadith. The sample consisted of 251 students from UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim in Riau, STAIN Bengkalis, and STAIN Abdurrahman Saleh in Riau Islands using a random sampling technique. Using descriptive analysis, the students’ responses against the interpretation of violent verses were categorized as fairly positive at 61%. It indicates that 39% of the students had a negative response. Hence, this study recommends the importance of efforts to “neutralize” the students’ understanding of the three Islamic higher education in Riau to prevent their tendency to have harsh or even radical understanding and responses.

Abstract

Dalam meningkatkan keterampilan generik sains siswa ada banyak cara yang dapat dilakukan dengan beberapa model maupun media pembelajaran. Pendekatkan kontekstual terbukti mampu meningkatkan keterampilan generik sains siswa dan media interaktif yang dikembangkan mampu membawa siswa pada dampak yang positif.  Media berfungsi untuk membantu penyampaian konsep yang lebih praktis agar siswa dapat dengan mudah menemukan konsep yang diajarkan. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dan penerapan pembelajaran IPA dengan menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual dalam meningkatkan keterampilan generik sains siswa pada bahan ajar media cetak interaktif berupa majalah materi ‘Klasifikasi Makhluk Hidup’. Metode yang digunakan ialah tinjauan pustaka sistematis (Systematic Literature Review) dengan menggunakan diagram PRISMA. Database yang digunakan untuk mencari literatur menggunakan dua digital library yaitu Google Cendekia dan DOAJ.Agar literatur yang dipilih relevan, pencarian menggunakan kata kunci “pendekatan kontekstual dan CTL”. Selanjutnya melakukan penyaringan untuk mendapatkan publikasi artikel ilmiah sejak tahun 2017 hingga 2021 yang membahas pengaruh media berbasis pendekatan kontektual di SMP dan SMA. Hasil pencarian artikel ilmiah terdapat 22 artikel yang akan dianalisis dan disintesis. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah metode naratif dengan mengelompokkan data yang telah diekstraksi. Hasil penelitian ini terdapat penilaian terhadap pengaruh dan penerapan dalam pendekatan kontesktual yaitu kategori tinggi, kategori sedang dan tidak ada perubahan. Secara keseluruhan pendekatan kontekstual terdapat peningkatkan yang tinggi pada hasil belajar dengan menerapkan pendekatan konteksetual dalam pembelajaran IPA di SMP dan SMA. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi pembanding pendidik SMP dan SMA bahwa pendekatan kontekstual memiliki pengaruh yang positif dalam proses pembelajaran IPA.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the benefits of using inquiry-based digital teaching materials during the Covid-19 pandemic for natural science learning subjects in high-grade elementary schools. The method used in this research is descriptive method with the aim of obtaining a description of the usefulness of digital teaching materials in online learning for elementary school teacher education (PGSD) students. Digital teaching materials are one of the solutions that can be given to problems that occur during the pandemic. COVID-19 so that students' needs for teaching materials are still fulfilled even though the learning that is taking place is not carried out face-to-face in class. This teaching material is structured with self-instructional, adaptive, self-contained, and user friendly characteristics. The data analysis in this study is based on four indicators, namely the ability of students to use digital teaching materials, student activeness in learning using digital teaching materials, the effectiveness of learning using digital teaching materials and student responses to learning using digital teaching materials. The instrument used in collecting data in this study was a questionnaire. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that 75% of students were able to use applications as science teaching materials, 65% of students seemed to be active in learning, 85% of students stated that digital teaching materials were very effective in online learning, and 90% of student responses to learning were positive.
