Abstract

Human resource management has taken a sharp turn in 21st century towards high involvement practices. Recruiters are shifting towards such high involvement practices to integrate the business functions with more efficiency especially supply chain. However, such integration seems less effective without a strong democratic culture in organization. This study has determined the impact of workplace democracy on supply chain integration in Thailandâ??s manufacturing sector where democratic practices have been started nourishing in factory areas. Moreover, mediating roles of high involvement HRM practices such as employee incentives, skills and participation have also been analyzed in relationship between workplace democracy and supply chain integration. Data has been collected from Thailandâ??s manufacturing sector and middle management was surveyed through structured questionnaire whose data was then analyzed by applying confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. Results have highlighted that workplace democracy can significantly enhance supply chain integration while almost all high involvement HR practices were found as significant mediators in relationship between democracy and integration. Originality of this study is there in outcome variable which was supply chain integrity that was never tested before as consequence of democracy or high involvement practices. This study has its implications, limitations and future research directions too.

Abstract

Chinaâ??s One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative has also connected Thailand with many other markets to support its manufacturing industry. Yet, due to such long-range trade relationships, information sharing is becoming a key figure for success. Such information sharing from manufacturer to customer reduces the uncertainties and can improve production process too. In this study, author has seen the impact of manufacturer to supplier information sharing and manufacturer to buyer information sharing on supply chain performance of such firms which are located in OBOR plans. Moreover, mediating role of dynamic manufacturing capability has also been tested in relationship between information sharing dimensions and supply chain performance. Data has been collected from those manufacturing firms of Thailand who are either doing or willing to do trade through OBOR initiative through survey questionnaire. Responses were then analyzed on SPSS and AMOS to get the empirical results. Findings have revealed that information sharing dimensions have significant impact on supply chain performance and dynamic manufacturing capability is playing a significant positive mediating role in the respective relationships. This study is novel due to the mediating role of dynamic capabilities which were not taken in prior literature and also has its very own implications for academia and practice.

Abstract

The study has examined the impact of the innovative capability on the firm performance of Indonesian manufacturing firms  The current study aimed to examine the role of competitive advantage and SCH flexibility as a mediator on the financial performance and intellectual CAP nexus, in the Indonesia?s manufacturing  industry. the response rate for this survey is 59.6%. The results in this study suggest a number of issues which must be addressed by the researchers and managers. Therefore, assessing the third variable is vital to have a meaningful interpretation of the association among study variables. In a study, if a relationship does not take into account the mediating mechanism, then it fails to get complete understanding of the relationship. In addition, failing to consider the effect of a mediator may not have clear explanation of the relationship outcome. Contrarily, a model which considers the mediating mechanism is likely to estimate accurate relationship among variables under study. Therefore, in order to reach to the legitimate conclusions and decisions, the practitioners and scholars must consider the significance of competitive advantage on performance and intellectual  capital (CAP) nexus. Hence, results might facilitate the management for taking initiatives to develop acceptance and greater understanding of the intellectual CAP, thereby boosting organizations? performance as well as their competitive position.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate an alternative solution as an insecticide from Indonesian natural ingredients. We investigated the potential use of Artocarpus altilis park (known as kluwih plants in Indonesia) for an anti-mosquito repellent because it contains flavonoids and saponins. The use of this type of insecticide is harmless, inexpensive, and largely available in Indonesia. In the experiment, we extracted bark and leaves of kluwih to obtain insecticidal material to repel Anopheles sp. To ensure the precise extraction and insecticidial effect, the experiments were conducted four times with three repetitions. For each experiment, we used 8.4 mL with the concentrations of 20, 30, and 40% of flavonoid. The results showed that the higher the concentrations of bark and leaf extracts of Artocarpus altilis park the higher the mortality rate of Anopheles sp is.
