Abstract

Mining activities have a big impact to change environmental condition and biodiversity. The government, through its rules requires an environmental management process at mining site. PT. Berau Coal has a high commitment in efforts to improve the environment, it's proved by the revegetation and monitoring of reclamation areas that cariied out every year. This research aims to see the diversity of mammals in reclamation area as one indicator of the success of revegetation program carried out by PT. Berau Coal. This research conducted in 3 reclamation areas, Lati Site, Binungan Site, and Sambarata Site. Data that used are biodiversity monitoring from 2014 - 2017.  Some of analyzes used include Biodiversity Index (H') and Equity Index (E). The results showed that the presence of mammal in reclamation area was quite high with an average annual presence of 21 species in Lati Site, 21 species in Binungan Site, and 23 species in Sambarata Site. Whereas if viewed from the annual average number of individuals present were 70 individuals in Lati Site, 56 individuals in Sambarata Site, and 74 jndividuals im Binungan Site. This level of delivery provides a description that the reclamation area of PT. Berau Coal has able provide a good habitat for mammals. While the biodiversity values (H ') of mammals are at Lati 2.45; H 'in Binungan 2.67 and H' in sambarata 2.52

Abstract

Human activities in utilizing natural resources, including in coal activities without conservation measures will cause environmental damage, among others, the danger of erosion. One of the impacts of erosion is declining land productivity, so it is necessary to follow up in the form of rehabilitation of forests and land. This research aims to identify the estimation of erosion rate on the post-mining land of PT Berau Coal planted with citronella grass and the financial feasibility of citronella grass revegetation. The field method is conducted through surveys and observations to determine the length of slope and slope of a slope. Determination of the sampling point in this study using stratified sampling technique.  Sampling point is all revegetation land planting citronella grassand cover crop there are 6 sampling points. The observed parameters include soil properties, erosion predictions occurring, erosivity factors, soil erosiveness, slope length and slope, crop factor and land conservation, tolerable erosion, and danger level erosion. The results showed the magnitude of the value of the alleged erosion rate by using the USLE method at the research site planted by the seraiwangi plants has considerable erosion potential ranging from a 12% slope of 891.98 tons/ha/yr while the highest soil erosion at the Pit H4 SW L study site at a 30% slope of 3060.10 tons/ha/yr.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kegiatan penambangan batu bara PT Berau Coal site Lati menggunakan teknik open pit mining yang mana salah satu pengaruh negatif dari kegiatan operasional yakni potensi terjadinya pencemaran lingkungan meliputi pencemaran air karena terjadi erosi dan sedimentasi sungai dan juga terbentuknya areal revegetasi dengan tingkat kesuburan yang rendah. Untuk mengurangi dampak negatif salah satunya dengan penanaman mengguankan teknologi hydroseeding. Metode yang digunakan adalah penilaian keberhasilan covering covercrop hydroseeding dengan ground cover assassment, pendugaan laju erosi dengan USLE dan analisa kesuburan tanah kandungan pH dan C/N rasio. Hasil penelitian menunjukan areal revegetasi yang belum ditumbuhi covercrop mempunyai laju erosi sangat tinggi dan kesuburan tanah yang rendah, sedangkan pada areal yang sudah ditanamai covercrop dengan teknologi hydroseeding mempunyai tingkat laju erosi rendah dan kesuburan tanah yang senderung meningkat serta keberhasilan penutupan covercrop yang tinggi pada lahan marginal. Kata kunci : hydroseeding, lahan marginal, erosi, tanah  ABSTRACT PT Berau Coal site Lati coal mining activities use open pit mining technique, which is one of the negative effects of operational activities, namely the potential for environmental pollution including water pollution due to erosion and sedimentation of the river and also the formation of revegetation areas with low fertility. To reduce the negative impacts, one of them is by planting using hydroseeding technology. The method used is an assessment of the success of covering cover crop hydroseeding with ground cover assassment, estimating the rate of erosion with USLE and analyzing soil fertility with pH and C / N ratio. The results showed revegetation areas that have not been covered with covercrop have very high erosion rates and low soil fertility, whereas in areas that have been planted with covercrop with hydroseeding technology have low erosion rates and soil fertility which is inclined to increase and the success of covercrop cover is high on land marginal. Keywords: hydroseeding, marginal land, erosion, soil
