Abstract

Due to expensive energy costs nowadays, the architects are demanded to produce relatively efficient building designs, especially those with many stories. As a consequence, both accurate estimation and energy saving measures are extremely needed even at the early stage of the planning process. In fact, the consumption for the building energy has been mostly absorbed by air conditioning and lighting needs. In practice, both of them have been affected by direct contact of the sunlight penetrating through the building casing, either by conduction, convection or radiation processes. While both shapes and positions of the building casing are very much dependent on the basic shapes and the building orientation, a critical question is needed to investigate any further: to what extent each basic shape of the buildings is likely to increase or decrease the energy and which orientation gives significant effects. Designed in an experimental research, this study aims to investigate the characteristics of the building shapes in obtaining the heat and to examine the total energy consumption. A series of testing measures is conducted by changing the building basic shapes and their orientation according to the basic conditions previously set. In so doing, obtaining calculated energy consumption difference could be achieved. It is expected that the results of this study is worth considering reference for architects and hence they are able to determine appropriate building basic shapes as well as their appropriate orientation during the planning phase.  Keywords: building basic shapes; building energy; orientation; sunlight

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a country rich in types of building materials and technologies inherited from generation to generation. Along with the passage oftime appears the computer as a human tools. However during the materialsprocessing this computational approach is still separated. Computers are still usedas tools for drawing and not used as design tools in the design thinking process.Computational design has an ability to integrating the design focus from thematerial side, structure, and formation associated with digital fabrication. Thispaper focuses to divide concepts of tectonics as general and relate them to theunderstanding of digital perception. This paper also presents the results of a studythat has involved digital perception in the study of planar materials and wafflestructure systems from the early stages to the model of construction. Plywood isthe only material used, made with milling machines and built by students. Thisprocess introduces students to different experience of the design process.Computational design makes possibilities to integrating the design focus from thematerial side, structure, and formation associated with digital fabrication.

Abstract

Abstract

Kotoran (faeces) sapi, satu hingga tiga ekor, menghasilkan rata-rata 40 kg/hari.

Abstract

Indonesia is located in a geographic area that is prone to disasters; thus, it is necessary to raise awareness about the science of disaster mitigation, including the provision of safe/suitable temporary shelter/building facilities for victims. In a number of disasters, it can be seen that confusion and access to the affected transportation will lead to difficulties in delivering disaster relief and supporting equipment to build post-disaster facilities. Therefore, we need a construction system that is easily assembled, stable, and easy to carry. In this case, the designer uses one type of shell structure, i.e. Minimum Surface principle which is the basis of the Inflatable Structure or Pneumatic Structure. By developing lightweight structures that refer to this principle, the designer can process architectural forms that are lighter and more stable. In this paper, the discussion is limited to the use of materials made from plywood based on the principle of Minimal Surface structure because this material is easily obtained and processed. The research questions of this study are how to create a fast raft construction system for post-disaster needs with plywood base material and how to process the connection system or plywood construction to have structural capability. © 2020 Stephanus Evert Indrawan, Gervasius Herry Purwoko, Tri Noviyanto P. Abstract

Every parent certainly wants the best for their children. Childhood is the period where children experience growth and development in many aspects; physically, intellectually, socially, and emotionally. However, it seems that nowadays many parents are not capable to fully attend their children’s needs because of job demands. That is why many start to entrust their children’s first formal education to preschool. Preschool can stimulate the growth and development of the children by letting them learn and play. The learning process can accelerate well if the preschool has qualified teachers, good program, and proper physical environment. The children will feel uncomfortable to learn and play in dark, humid, and overcrowded place. Therefore, classrooms and other facility rooms need to be designed as comfortable as possible to support children’s need and growth in the learning process. Selection of colors, shapes, furniture and room layout should be done properly in accordance with children’s ergonomics, and should pay attention to the safety for its users.Interior architecture design Town for Kids Preschool with Playful Kid’s Town as a theme is to provide a comfortable preschool for children to maximize learning process through visual, audio and kinesthetic. Theme is applicable in selection of primary colors to enhance the spirit of children’s activities, simple geometric shapes according to the level of children’s learning abilities and playful design as children’s learning media.

Abstract

The demand of comfortability in a house has become an important factor. Because of that, any aspect that relates with it has to be well-designed. So, the people that live it in that house feel maycomfortable and that feeling has to be illustrated in the design. The priority for designing the showroom and booth is the comfort matter. Because of that, the idea for the design concept of this project is ‘House in a House’. In another words, it could be defined that the house ambience is illustrated in the showroom as well as in the exhibition booth. Inside the showroom, objects sold are the home furnishing products, including the furniture furnishing products. The most important thing of the design concept is a simple design. Therefore, it will give a relieved and roomy ambience, with black and white colour, and with the consideration of ergonomic, circulation arrangement, and room organizization. The showroom and the exhibition booth that were designed, were attractive and might invite people to buy the products, and the customer understand about the products sold.
