Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect and differences in the use of the cooperative model Think Talk Write and Problem Based Learning aided by Pop Up Books media on the critical thinking skills of elementary school students. This research used a quantitative research method of quasi experiment. The research design used in the study was the pretest-posttest control group design. The sample of this research was SD 1 Rahtawu and SD 2 Rahtawu as the control class and SD 1 Menawan as the experimental class. The control class consisted of 39 students and the experimental class consisted of 40 students. The independent variable was the cooperative model Think Talk Write and Problem Based Learning aided by Pop Up Books media. While the dependent variable was students' critical thinking. The data collection technique was a test of students' critical thinking results. With the results of the average value obtained by the control class 79.1, while in the experimental class the average value is 82.6. With an average N-gain in the experimental class is 0.51 in the medium category, while the average N-gain in the control class is 0.31 in the medium category. Which means there was an influence of the application of the cooperative model Think Talk Write and Problem Based Learning aided by Pop Up Books media on students' critical thinking skills. And there were differences in results in the use of learning models which means that by applying the Problem Based Learning model aided by Pop Up Books media students' critical thinking skills were better than the Cooperative Think Talk Write model aided by Pop Up Books media.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyzed the role of social study (IPS) in Embedding multicultural values in sixth grade students at Kragan 01 primary school. This Study used qualitative research method. Data collected by interview, obsevation, and documentation. The data validity techique used the trianggulation method. The data analysis technique used interactive model of miles and huberman. The focus of research examinined the role of social studies learning in multicultural values. The result showed that the role of social studies learning in embedding multicultural education were : (1) embedding values and attitudes of tolerance, mutual undertanding, openness, inclusivism for diversity (2) Children had knowledge about cultural diversity and social problem (3) Built anti-discrimination and equality attitudes. The implication of the results of this study was embedding multicultural values was very useful for unifying the nation and reducing conflict.

Abstract

Marginal people become a problem in Semarang. Kemijen is a village or a village in East Semarang Regency. It is a place for marginal people in Semarang. Kemijen has both physical and social environment problems. Indeed, this location is not suitable to stay either for adults, adolescents, or children. One of the concerning matters deals with adolescents. The adolescent phase remains in an important individual development stage. This research aims to analyze the role of the area, habitus, and social capital for adolescents of marginal people and their social behaviors in Semarang. This qualitative research collected the data from a deep interview, observation, and literature study. The data analysis used data reduction, presentation, and conclusion stages. The findings showed the area, habitus, and social capital influenced the dropout-adolescents’ social behaviors. Meanwhile, the school arena of the adolescents’ residences and the social capital did not influence the adolescents’ social behaviors at schools. The social behaviors of the marginal people in Semarang consisted of politeness, lifestyle, peer-interaction, the opposite sex interaction, and life perspective. The adolescents’ social behaviors of the marginal people were grouped into two. Dropout adolescents' social behaviors tended to be negative. Meanwhile, the adolescents that still went to schools tended to be positive.
