Abstract

The schemata are conceptual frameworks that are in the form of design process for translating the particular idea, where the reading activities require the proper scheme in understanding the information. The students read with traditional technique that has not yet to build the perspective information. There should be an evaluation of the strategy for integrating information, so the purpose of this research provides an overview of how the schemata role integrating the students reading literacy. The population of this research is the student in eighth grade at SMPN 1 Lebakwangi. This method of research is qualitative descriptive with case study design. The results show the potential schemata providing the significance in students’ reading literacy, where students can identify the information, synthesize information and facilitate information. Three stages use for generating information based on the perspective built through the schemata stages. The implications of this study provide an insight into concept mapping information in reading literacy. There are schemata as strategy to divide information based on the questions and make summarization. It takes the students to convey information becoming a critical reader by eliminating inappropriate information.

Abstract

Speaking is a productive skill that can be directly observed by considering several aspects. It can trigger the students’ anxiety as a psychological factor to communicate foreign language with others. This case has become a unique phenomenon to be analysed because anxiety has a relevance with foreign language abilities. This study aims to evaluate the psychological factor influencing the students’ anxiety in speaking English by using a qualitative approach. The data were collected by using observations, open-ended questionnaires, and interviews. There were 17 students in the ninth-grade of junior high school in Brebes Regency participating in this research. Three major phases of data analysis, namely data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing established to analyse the data. The researchers found three factors triggering the students’ anxiety in speaking English, namely communication apprehension, test-anxiety, and fear of negative evaluation which were influenced by the situation-specific anxiety. The situation could represent an uncomfortable experience emotionally and physically for some students to speak English in the class. The students felt anxious, frustrated, fearful, nervous, worried when they were unable to speak English. It made the students afraid of making mistakes and like to underestimate their abilities so that this prevents them from doing verbal activities. Therefore, this research discusses waysreduce the specific psychological factors that cause students’ anxiety in speaking English. This result can be used as guidance in managing learning conditions, learning materials, and learning strategies to deal with students’ anxiety in learning English. The teacher can use this research as a reference for analyzing the students’ anxiety symptoms during learning English in order to increase the students’ motivation and confidence in speaking performance.

Abstract

Setiap pendidik selalu mempunyai keinginan bagaimana caranya agar ilmu pengetahuan yang akan diberikan kepada peserta didik diterima dengan baik. Belakangan ini kalau kita perhatikan ada suatu aplikasi tiktok yang banyak digunakan oleh mahasiswa-mahasiswi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah aplikasi tiktok bisa digunakan sebagai salah satu media pembelajaran atau tidak. Penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa dan mahasiswi sebanyak 150 di Kabupaten Brebes. Data diperoleh dengan cara pendidik memberikan beberapa pertanyaan tentang penggunaan aplikasi tiktok yang diketik melalui aplikasi whatshap kemudian dikirim ke setiap mahasiswa-mahasiswi untuk mengetahui respon mahasiswa apakah aplikasi tiktok bisa digunakan sebagai salah satu media pembelajaran di Universitas Kabupaten Brebes. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh mahasiswa-mahasiswi mengenal dan menggunakan aplikasi tiktok. Mereka menganggap aplikasi tiktok menguntungkan dan menghibur.Mereka juga sangat menyukai aplikasi tiktok dan mereka beranggapan aplikasi tiktok mereka setuju apabila aplikasi tiktok ini digunakan sebagai salah satu media pembelajaran.Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa-mahasiswi di Universitas Kabupaten Brebes mereka setuju bahwa aplikasi tiktok bisa digunakan sebagai salah satu pengembangan media pembelajaran.

Abstract

The English public speaking training using pop-up media for teens in Brebes district is a program designed to improve the public speaking skills of teens. This training will use pop-up media as an engaging and interactive learning aid. The goal of this training is to provide an understanding of good public speaking techniques and to increase the confidence of teens in speaking in public. In addition, the training also give teens the opportunity to practice and apply the techniques they have learned in real-world situations. The methods used in this training are lecture, discussion, and public speaking practice. Pop-up media used as a visual aid to make the training materials more interesting and easier to understand. The training conducted for 6 sessions with a total of 11 participants, the teenager from Brebes District with various ability in English. The training conducted by experienced lecturers from various faculties as facilitator in the field of public speaking and the English language and the results of the training will be measured through oral and written evaluations before and after the training. A learning community of English language will be formed as an effort to support the sustainability of the training and develop the potential of the participants involved.

Abstract

Diabetes Militus merupakan suatu gangguan dalam proses metabolisme tubuh. Salah satu alternatif untuk pencegahan atau penurunan penyakit tersebut dengan mengkonsumsi pangan sehat. Aloe vera yaitu tanaman yang lebih dikenal masyarakat dengan sebutan lidah buaya, mampu menurunkan resiko diabetes militus. Tanaman ini memiliki kemampuan kerja yang mirip dengan insulin, sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan untuk mengendalikan gula darah. Pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai lidah buaya masih sebatas untuk perawatan rambut dan luka. Sedangkan tanaman ini dapat diolah menjadi pangan sehat yang berpeluang untuk dikembangkan. Dengan hal ini, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat diselenggarakan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu PKK di Desa Banjarharjo. Kegiatan dibagi 4 tahap, yaitu pengisian kuisioner pre-test dan wawancara, penyampaian materi mengenai manfaat aloe vera, pelatihan pengolahan aloe vera sebagai pangan sehat, dan pengisian kuisioner past-test. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) yaitu peserta mengalami peningkatan mengenai pengetahuan olahan aloe vera sebagai pangan sehat, pengolahan nata de aloe vera dapat sebagai peluang bisnis peserta kegiatan, kegiatan diselenggarakan dengan lancar dan kondusif.

Abstract

Kegiatann pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan di Desa Randusanga Wetan, Kecamatan Brebes, Kabupaten Brebes, Jawa Tengah yang mempunyai banyak potensi dibidang pertanian laut. kegiatan ini bermitra dengan para UMKM Desa Randusanga Wetan yang masih kesulitan dalam pengelolaan keuangan, legalitas, labeling yang terdapat pada studi kelayakan bisnis dimana hal tersebut merupakan hal yang penting dan belum adanya wadah dari Desa tentang pelaku UMKM. kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi dan menganalisis kinerja usahanya sehinggga mampu meningkatkan produktifitas dan kesuksesan para UMKM berbasis Studi kelayakan bisnis pada aspek keuangan. Kegiatan ini menggunakan beberapa metode, anatar lain: metode ceramah, metode diskusi/tanya jawab kepda para UMKM. Data yang digunakan adalah data sekunder yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data para pelaku UMKM dan data primer untuk melakukan observasi serta mengetahui keadaan usaha UMKM Desa Randusanga Wetan.

Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between habitual use of local language and students' difficulty accepting English. The research was conducted using a qualitative study. The data is collected through survey questionnaires, observation, and focus group discussions. The participants in this study are 78 students from four study programs at Universitas Muhadi Setiabudi. These are Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Primary School Teacher Education, Pharmacy, and Nutrition Study Program at the undergraduate level. The results showed that habitual use of local language significantly affected students' difficulty in accepting and adopting English. The researcher has found that the frequent use of the local language can create a linguistic comfort zone, making it challenging to learn and accept a foreign language like learning English. Ultimately, the success of learning English depends on a variety of factors, including the student's motivation, learning style, and exposure to the language. Furthermore, the student's motivation, learning style, and exposure to the language were also important factors contributing to the resistance towards learning English.
