Abstract

The quality of education is the ultimate goal of a teaching and learning process. This study aimed to finding out a significant influence of principal leadership and teachers’ performance on the quality of education at Junior High School level and to identify dominant factors affecting the quality of education. This research was conducted in Junior High School in Konawe regency. This is a mix method research using a survey for quantitative data and observations as well as interview for qualitative data. The primary data was collected from 88 respondents, while the secondary data was from related documents. This study revealed that 1) there was a significant influence of principal leadership on the quality of education at Junior High School level. Based on significance test, it was obtained that t value counted for 5.486 compared with table t values with probability 0.05 of 1,991 where the value of t count ≥ t table then Ho1 rejected; 2) there was a significant influence of teachers’ performance on the quality of education. Based on its significance test, it was obtained that t value counted for 2.306 ≥ t table value of 1,991 where t count ≥ t table then Ha2 accepted; 3) there was a significant influence simultaneously between principal leadership and teachers’ performance on the quality of education. It was based on Anova Test results that F count was 18,955 with significance level 0,000 < probability value α 0.05 while F table according to the level of significance 0.05 (2;86) of 3.10 so that F counted > F table (18,955 > 3.10), therefore, Ho3 rejected. The contribution of the principal leadership variable and teacher’s performance on the quality of education was 30,8%. In order to achieve a quality of better education, principal and teachers should develop their professional skills.

Abstract

Situasi  pandemi virus corona (covid-19) saat ini mengharuskan hampir semua aspek kehidupan dipusatkan di rumah, termasuk kegiatan  proses belajar mengajar. Sehingga peran orang tua dalam kesuksesan anak selama belajar di rumah menjadi sangat sentral dan butuh pendampingan. Permasalahan yang sering muncul yaitu orang tua masih belum mampu beradaptasi terhadap tugas-tugas pembelajaran yang diberikan oleh pihak sekolah. Hal ini menyebabkan orang tua merasa terbebani, anak-anak merasa bosan serta fasilitas penunjang belajar yang kurang memadai. Tujuan dari Pengabdian adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan orangtua tentang teknik belajar yang efektif. Metode yang digunakan adalah diseminasi melalui psikoedukasi, yang mana metode tersebut merupakan suatu kegiatan penyebaran informasi yang ditujukan kepada kelompok target atau individu agar mereka memperoleh informasi, timbul kesadaran, menerima, mengubah perilaku sasaran dan akhirnya mereka mampu memanfaatkan informasi tersebut. Perubahan pengetahuan diukur menggunakan pre dan posttest dengan analisis paired t-tes, sasaran kegiatan berjumlah 20 orang yang terdiri dari orangtua siswa yang bersekolah di SDN 86 dan SDIT Al-Qolam Kendari. Hasil pengukuran menunjukan adanya perubahan pengetahuan setelah diberikan intervensi dengan nilai p-value 0.028. Hasil dari kegiatan ini dapat menjadi bekal orang tua siswa dalam mengoptimalkan perannya dalam mendampingi anak belajar di masa pandemik covid-19.

Abstract

Premarital sex among teenagers keeps soaring by the day across the globe. Indonesia is faced with high levels of sexual promiscuity among adolescents. This research aimed to examine the differences in premarital sexual curiosity between teenagers in rural and urban settings. The population for the research involved 266 senior high school students drawn from Kendari city and the rural area of Ladongi, Southeast Sulawesi, using the Proportional Stratified Random Sampling technique. The research method used a cross-sectional study with a comparative design using the Mann-Whitney Test. The results revealed differences in premarital sexual behavior (p = 0.026), media information (p = 0,000), school’s roles (p = 0,000), and first age of dating (p = 0.038) between teenagers in rural and urban setting. However, there was no difference in knowledge regarding premarital sexual behavior (p = 0.159) and peer pressure (p = 0.219) between rural and urban teenagers.

Abstract

Background: Food and beverage sanitation hygiene is a prevention effort that focuses on activities or actions that are necessary to free food and drinks from hazards that can interfere with or damage health.Objective: This study aimed to identify personal hygiene, sanitation and food safety knowledge of food workers at the canteen university.Methods: This was a descriptive study with observational approach. Thirty-four canteens were recruited using total sampling. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with percentage.Results: Findings showed that 11 canteens (32.3%) did not meet the standard for canteen sanitation, 24 canteens (70.6%) did not meet lighting standard, 29 (85.3%) did not meet ventilation standard, 18 (52,9%) did not meet the standard of clean water, 31 (91.2%) did not meet wastewater disposal standard, 23 (67.6%) did not meet the hand washing facility standard, 25 (73.5%) did not meet standard of waste disposal conditions, 28 respondents (85.3%) had good personal hygiene, 6 respondents (14.6%) had poor personal hygiene and all food workers had good knowledge on food safety (100%).Conclusion: Personal hygiene, sanitation and food safety at the university canteen must be carried out continuously. Our findings can be used as a basis for creating healthy university canteen.
