Abstract

The implication of the growing number of mature people is becoming contemporary issues for tourism and hospitality business. Managers need to have better understanding about the motives of older people to go travelling and how they behave in the tourist destination, what their need and expectation are. This report attempts to extend the theoretical and empirical evidence about the relationship among older people motivations, behaviours, expectations and mature market segmentation. The .findings of literature reviews also reveal the differences of senior traveller motivation and expectation due to differences of nationality and culture background. Finally, this study highlighted the implication of this issue to the tourism and hospitality businesses.

Abstract

Developing sustainable tourism which can help destinations to increase the ben­efits and minimize the risks of the tourism industry is still becoming a challenge for the tourism authorities in some countries. Destination benchmarking is one of the programmes that give further knowledge and skill about how to develop sustainable tourism. Therefore, this paper will discuss the benefits of destination benchmarking as an effective tool for sustainable tourism in terms of chance to learn from others, maintaining competitive performances and increasing tourist destination profitability. Hence, it is suggested that the destination authorities in Indonesia join the destination benchmarking programme in order to improve tour­ist destination performances and to develop sustainable tourism in Indonesia.

Abstract

Managing diversity becomes one of the most important/actors in ensuring company competitiveness. This paper explores the theories about diversity management and compares them with the practices in organizations a11d then examines late organizations' diversity programs I/trough their employees' perceptions. The findings illustrate that there is a gap between managing diversity theories and practices in organizations and some barriers in implementing diversity program, especially ill the hospitality industry. Therefore, it is suggested that human resources practices that make one conse11sus about the precise definition of workforce diversity as a guideline in developing diversity training programs. Organizations also need to change their approach from a reactive approach to a proactive approach toward workforce diversity. Communication told openness to dissimilarity can reduce the barriers in implementing diversity programs.

Abstract

This research aims to determine (1) the composition of body symbol plant species in each Tri Mandala in the village of Tenganan Pegiringsingan, (2) the coordinate points of reference for body symbol plant species in Tenganan Pegringsingan village, and (3) Plant species perspective body symbol in ethnobotany learning. The method used in this research is quadratic method, observation, and interview. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results of this study indicate (1) from 74 existing plant species, 14 plant species (19%) included in the body symbol plant category. (2) The distribution of body symbol species on Tri Mandala is categorized as having a wide, medium, or narrow distribution. (3) Coordinating points for the distribution of body symbol plant species ranging from 8°28,506 S 115° 33,994'E to 8°28,646 S 115°33,995'. (4) Plant species body symbols and their distribution to Tri Mandala have a good perspective to be packaged and implemented in ethnobotany learning.

Abstract

This research aimed to know the implementation of environmental conservation in terms of cultural value orientation, including humanistic nature orientation, man-nature orientation, time orientation, activity orientation, and relational orientation. The population of this research was the entire community in traditional village Tenganan Pegringsingan, Karangasem, Bali. This research sample amounted to 25 people, consisting of the conventional village apparatus, community leaders, and the general public. Methods of data collection were the method of observation, interview, questionnaire, and checklist. The collected data were analyzed descriptively. This research indicated that the orientation of cultural values of humanistic nature orientation and man-nature orientation had an excellent quality. The time orientation, activity orientation, and relational orientation parameters had good quality. Culture in the study community generally showed a positive thing, so the impact of culture on the quality of the environment, in general, was excellent. The results of observations in the field revealed that there were all community activities at Tenganan Pegringsingan that could not cause environmental pollution. Therefore, the role of traditional regulation or awig-awig to regulate environmental and social-culture.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh sebagai berikut, (1) kompensasi dan pengalaman kerja terhadap kinerja, (2) kompensasi terhadap kinerja, (3) pengalaman kerja terhadap kinerja. populasi yang dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh karyawan yang bekerja pada PT Indo Bali Negara yang berjumlah 39 orang karyawan. Berdasarkan karakteristik masalah yang diteliti maka penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kuntitatif kausal. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini yaitu pencatatan dokumen dan kuesioner. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kompensasi dan pengalaman kerja berpengaruh terhadap kinerja, kompensasi berpengaruh terhadap pengalaman kerja, kompensasi berpengaruh terhadap kinerja, dan pengalaman kerja berpengaruh terhadap kinerja.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) sistem pengembangan sumber daya manusia di PT. Arta Sedana Singaraja (2) pengaruh sistem pengembangan sumber daya manusia terhadap kinerja karyawan di PT. Arta Sedana Singaraja. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode analisis regresi linier sederhana. Populasi penelitian ini berjumlah 35 orang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode kuesioner dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) terdapat empat sistem pengembangan sumber daya manusia yaitu pelatihan selling skill dan training supervisory skill, promosi jabatan untuk sales menjadi supervisor sales, fasilitas handphone yang memiliki sistem sales force automation, pemberian isentif terhadap karyawan yang melampaui target; (2) sistem pengembangan sumber daya manusia berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan di PT. Arta Sedana Singaraja sebesar 65,8%.
