Abstract

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic around the world puts children at risk of becoming the most prominent victims. Children usually have less ability to decipher and understand the content of the news about the COVID-19 outbreak. Assessment of elementary school children's knowledge and attitudes is critical in identifying gaps, strengthening prevention efforts, and overcoming the epidemic. Purpose This study was aimed to describe and assess elementary school children's knowledge and attitudes about COVID-19, signs and symptoms, modes of transmission, precautions, and attitudes towards COVID-19. Methods This research was used a cross-sectional design to describe knowledge and attitude of elementary school children. The cluster sampling technique was used to recruit 92 of children aged 7-12 years. An online questionnaire was posted through WhatsApp group questionnaire that developed by the author to measure knowledge and attitudes towards COVID-19 based on literature. The instrument was declared valid and reliable with Cronbach alpha 0.71, consisting of four main parts: socio-demographics, sources of information, knowledge, and attitudes of primary school children regarding COVID-19. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, percentage, and frequency for grouped measurements. Results: The majority of children get COVID-19 information from social media and family/friends (62.4%), knowing about COVID-19 (59.9%), mode of transmission (88%), signs and symptoms (47.8%), prevention (78.4%), and protective attitudes against COVID-19 (58.3%). Conclusion The insufficient understanding still become a problem of school aged children regarding the symptoms of COVID-19 and the lack of attitudes of elementary school children towards self-protection against COVID-19 that potential for increasing the transmission of COVID-19 infection to children. Nurses as educators could provide health education to improve elementary school students' understanding of signs of symptoms and attitudes for protecting against COVID-19 through a learning by playing approach Keywords: COVID-19; Knowledge; Attitude; School age Children.

Abstract

The Lubuk Buaya Health Center has the highest number of children under five in the city of Padang. It has the most stunting cases in the city of Padang. The partner in IbDM is a group of cadres from the village of Pasie Nan Tigo. The formulated problems of partners are the low knowledge and skills of cadres in early detection of the risk of stunting in children. The objective is to increase the understanding of management, cadre knowledge and expertise in the implementation of nutrition services and counselling inside and outside integrated health post and in-home visits. The method used is health education and cadre training by providing pretest and posttest. Knowledge questionnaires on stunting prevention and detection were given to cadres before and after training. The results of this training found that cadre's average knowledge increased after being given training. This training can increase the knowledge of cadres regarding early detection of the risk of stunting in children. It is expected that cadres can develop the ability to detect the risk of stunting in early childhood cadres so that they are able to provide counselling to all families who have children when visiting the integrated health post.

Abstract

Based on the results of the interview date march 5, 2017 with the babys mother is 10people, 3 people there mother giving baby breast milk frequency 5 times a day by reason ofbreast milk has not come out, 3 people mother gives the breast milk with a frequency of sixtimes a day by reason of breast milk is still a bit 2 people didn’t give breast milk and infantformula only gives on her baby with al san insufficent breast milk and breast milk frequencyaverage 8-12 times a day for 5 to 15 minutes. The purpose of knowing the frequencyrelationship of breast feeding with physiological jaundice in the newborn in the spital the year2017 padang cement.Type of this research is Descriptive Analytic with Cross Sectional Study. Researchconducted at semen padang hospital neonatology unit. Date retrieval is done for a month on 1-30 july 2017. Entire population of newborn in semen padang hospital as much as 41 babies.Samples taken using total sampling amounted to 41 babies. By means of observation and usingquestionnaires, then in the analysis with a statistical test of Chi-Square.The results showed more than mother separoh (56,1%) providing breast milk for lessthan 8 times a day more than the baby’s separoh (61,0%) experience the physiologicaljaundice incident. Statistically it can be concluded that there is a meaningful relationshipbetween the frequency of breast feeding with physiological jaundice infants p-value≤ 0.005.Nurses and midwives are expected along with other health care personnel can provideinformation or guidance that is complete on about the importance of breast feeding on in fants,including consequences if the baby does not get breast milk.

Abstract

Atraumatic care as a form of therapeutic care is provided to children and families by reducing the psychological impact of nursing actions offered. The problem is the application of the principle of atraumatic care in a pediatric ward of Unand's Hospital. The problem is due to the limited number of nurses and the lack of experience of nurses, especially in caring for children. Based on these problems, the alternative of problem-solving conduct seminars and workshops on nurses about optimizing the role of nurses in the application of atraumatic care in the pediatric ward. The purpose of these activities is to improve the knowledge and skill of nurses in applying atraumatic care in a pediatric department. The place of community services is in Andalas University Hospital Padang. Community service activities are carried out starting from the preparation stage, the implementation stage (training and outreach), the monitoring and evaluation phase. Methods of carrying out activities with lectures, focus group discussions (FGD), role play, and individual learning. The result of the action is an increase in nurses' knowledge and skills regarding the application of atraumatic care in the childcare room. It is expected that the hospital can carry out refreshment activities on an ongoing basis to improve the quality of child nursing care.

Abstract

West Sumatra area is the most prone to earthquakes; that disaster is an event that cannot be avoided and occurs suddenly, so sometimes it causes many fatalities. Children with disabilities are vulnerable to becoming victims of disasters, and this is due to the understanding. Lack of preparedness for children dealing with disasters. Pop-Up Book for Disability (POBODY) is an educational book for children with disabilities, especially developmentally disabled people. It displays an overview of disaster preparedness in the form of pop-up pictures. The problem that has been agreed with partners is the lack of understanding of students with mild mental retardation categories about disaster preparedness and the need for partners. Students can understand disaster conditions and prepare themselves if a disaster occurs according to their abilities. For this reason, the community services team conducted education in SLB Negeri 1 Padang. The team conducted preparedness for children with disabilities, exceptionally mild developmentally disabled children with an age range of 6-12 years, using the POBODY. This book is an educative storybook on disaster preparedness for children with disabilities consists of 11 pages. The team's before and after education with disaster preparedness with the POBODY can increase preparedness for earthquake disasters in children with mild mental retardation.

Abstract

Anemia in adolescent girls is very dangerous for both the short and long term. If it happens in the long term, after becoming a mother it will be detrimental to the baby in the future. Babies of anemic mothers will tend to give birth to premature babies later in the productive period of the teenager. Babies born to anemic adolescents are very at risk for malnutrition, then stunting. The purpose of this health education is to prevent anemia in adolescent girls as the primary prevention of stunting in toddlers. The implementation of this activity is carried out through 4 stages: situation analysis, preparation of needs for implementation of activities and evaluation of activities. The health education activities on anemia prevention were attended by 50 young women with pale conjunctiva criteria and often felt dizzy. The measuring instrument used is a questionnaire. The results of this activity in general can increase the knowledge of young women about anemia by 76%. Good knowledge before the activity was only 20%, after the activity increased to 96%. While the knowledge that is lacking before the activity is 80%, after the activity it is only 4%. Health education given to young women can increase knowledge in young women. It is hoped that young women can always eat balanced meals and blood-boosting tablets and disseminate this information to other young women. To the local health center to provide education on a regular basis every time they carry out youth posyandu activities.

Abstract

Pola penyakit di Indonesia menunjukkan peningkatan yang tajam pada penyakit tidak menular. Kunjungan rumah perawat telah lama menjadi bagian dari intervensi perawatan berbasis rumah dan komunitas yang dirancang untuk memandirikan klien dan keluarga dalam perawatan kesehatan, dan pencegahan komplikasi bagi penderita penyakit kronis. Komunikasi merupakan hal yang crusial dalam membina hubungan dengan keluarga Tujuan penelitian yaitu mengeksplorasi secara mendalam persepsi  keluarga terhadap pelayanan perawatan kunjungan rumah pada penderita penyakit kronis. Jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif,dilakukan di wilayah kerja puskesmas se Kota Pariaman. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Agustus 2021, dengan jumlah partisipan 7 orang keluarga dengan penyakit kronis. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik wawancara mendalam (in-depth-interview). Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah metode Colaizzi. Tema penelitian yaitu : Media komunikasi keluarga, komunikasi efektif dikeluarga komunikasi tidak adekuat. Saran terhadap petugas yang melakukan kunjungan rumah agar meningkatkan skill atau keterampilan komunikasi efektif dikeluarga dengan meningkatkan kepekaan budaya keluarga.Kata kunci : Kunjungan rumah ; komunikasi ;penyakit kronis ; persepsi keluarga

Abstract

Immunization has decreased worldwide, especially during the covid-19 pandemic. The decline was caused by doubts and refusal to immunize, fear of parents, and limited access to health services. Immunization is one of the basic needs for children to grow and develop and prevent the emergence of new infectious diseases in children. This study is an observational study with a descriptive approach to determine the description of maternal predisposing, enabling, and reinforcing factors to basic immunization in Pariaman City. The population in this study amounted to 253 mothers and a sample of 154 mothers who had children aged 12 months using a simple random sampling technique. The results showed that the mother's age was 30 years (51.7%), the mother's education was high (82.5%) and the mother did not work (70.8%). The mother's knowledge is mostly lacking (40.3%), the mother's attitude is not supportive (56.5%) and the mother's trust is less (42.9%). The affordability of health resources is not affordable (52.6%), family support is not supportive (48.1%), health worker support is lacking (5.8%) and support from community leaders is not supportive (43.5%). It is hoped that nurses can provide optimal counseling and family motivation to provide support to mothers in providing complete basic immunizations for children

Abstract

The phenomenon of bullying that often occurs in elementary school-age children is a severe problem that has an impact both physically and psychologically. Bullying in elementary school must be prevented immediately so that it does not become a habit that will be carried into adulthood. The purpose was to increase knowledge and assertive behaviour and the formation of anti-bullying cadres. The method used was health education and cadre training by providing a pretest and posttest. A knowledge questionnaire on bullying prevention was given to 60 elementary school students from 3 elementary schools in Pasie Nan Tigo Village, Lubuk Buaya Health Center, Koto Tangah District, Padang City. The results of this training found that students' average knowledge increased after being given health education. This training can increase students' knowledge and assertive behaviour about bullying prevention. Cadres are expected to prevent bullying in elementary school-age children so that life in the neighbourhood and school can run in peace and safety.
