Abstract

The Quizizz online quiz application and the application of hard work characters have an impact on student achievement, especially on geometry courses. This study aims to investigate the influence the Quizizz online quiz and the character of student hard work on student achievement in online geometry lectures. This study involved all semester 2 and 4 students majoring in mathematics education as a research sample. The instrument used was in the form of a quizizz online quiz learning questionnaire and hard work characters. The proper questionnaire is used as an instrument for collecting data through online media. The questionnaire scale used the Likert scale with the criteria of strongly agree, agree, half agree, disagree, strongly disagree. This research is a quantitative research with ex post facto research design. Student achievement data is obtained from the average cognitive value of students during their online lectures with quizizz. Initial data analysis uses normality test, classic assumption test and influence test. The results showed that the influence of quizizz on student achievement by 69%, the effect of hard work character on learning achievement by 46%, and simultaneously quizizz online quiz and hard work character can influence student learning achievement by 68%. The contribution of this study is that the application of online quiz Quizizz and the character of hard work in online learning, especially geometry, has a dominant influence on student achievement so lecturers can apply to improve the students’ achievement.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan saintifik terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Merauke. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan one-group pretest-posttest design. Tempat dilaksanakannya penelitian ini yaitu di SMP Negeri 2 Merauke. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Merauke. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling dan diperoleh sampel yaitu kelas VIII H yang berjumlah 21 siswa. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa n-gain score berada pada kategori sedang yaitu 0,40, sedangkan hasil uji hipotesis diperoleh  16,965 lebih dari  2,086 yang berarti bahwa  ditolak dan  diterima. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pendekatan saintifik terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Merauke. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of a scientific approach to the ability to think critically mathematical students of class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Merauke. This research is an experimental research with one-group pretest-posttest design. The place of this research is at SMP Negeri 2 Merauke. The population in this study were all class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Merauke. Sampling using cluster random sampling techniques and obtained samples of class VIII H, amounting to 21 students. The results indicate that the n-gain score is in the medium category of 0,40, while the hypothesis test results obtained  16,965 more than  2,086 which means that  is rejected and  is accepted. Then it can be concluded that there is an influence of the scientific approach to the ability to think critically mathematical students of class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Merauke.

Abstract

This study aims to produce a valid, practical, and effective ELPSA (Experiences, Language, Picture, Symbol, Applications) learning tool of matrix content. Research method using ADDIE model. The media tested at one of the vocational high schools in Merauke Regency. Validation sheets measure the validity of student worksheets and lesson plans assessed by the three validators. The practicality of the worksheet is measured by student responses questionnaires and learning implementation observation sheets. The effectiveness was measured by pretest and post-test. The result of this study showed that the validity of the lesson plan was 54% and 28%, the validity of the students’ worksheets was 63% and 27%. The validity of the pretest was 59%, and post-test sheets were 23%. The practicality value obtained from the student response questionnaire was 75%. Teacher and student activities in the learning process meet the excellent category. On the effectiveness test, all students did not satisfy the minimum class criteria at the pretest with an average score of 23.70. In the post-test results, all students passed with an average score of 84.20. After learning by the ELPSA model, student mathematics achievement increased by 100%. It can be concluded that the ELPSA model learning tool has met the valid, practical, and effective criteria to suit classroom learning.

Abstract

Representasi sangat penting dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran matematika di kelas. Namun, guru belum menjadikan representasi sebagai aktivitas otentik dalam berpikir dan menjelaskan ide-ide matematis. Karena itu, penelitian bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi konsepsi guru SMP tentang representasi dalam pembelajaran matematika ditinjau dari pengalaman mengajar. Tiga guru matematika dengan pengalaman mengajar berbeda dari tiga sekolah berbeda di Kabupaten Merauke menjadi subjek pada penelitian ini. Tes dan wawancara diberikan kepada ketiga guru untuk mengungkap konsepsi guru tentang representasi matematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru dengan lama mengajar 3 tahun memiliki konsepsi tentang representasi sebagai alat untuk memecahkan masalah dan belum menggunakan representasi sebagai pusat pembelajaran matematika, guru dengan lama mengajar 6 tahun memiliki konsepsi tentang representasi sebagai alat untuk memecahkan masalah dan untuk mengilustasikan ide-ide matematis, dan guru dengan lama mengajar 8 tahun meyakini bahwa representasi penting untuk memahami konsep matematika, menjelaskan ide-ide matematis, dan memecahkan masalah. Implikasi penelitian ini  menyarankan guru matematika untuk memulai pembelajaran dengan representasi dengan menggunakan benda-benda di sekitar agar siswa bisa bereksplorasi dalam mengonstruksi pemahaman dan pengetahuan matematika secara mandiri. Representation is very significant in mathematics teaching and learning in the classroom. However, the teacher has not created and build representations as an authentic activity in thinking and explaining mathematical ideas. Therefore, this study seeks to explore the middle school teacher's conception of representations in mathematics teaching and learning viewed from teaching experience. Three mathematics teachers with different teaching experiences came from three distinct schools in Merauke regency became participants of this study. Test and interview were assigned to the three teachers to reveal their mathematical representations conception. This work’s results indicate that teacher with 3-year teaching experience had a conception of representations as a tool to solve problems, the teacher with 6-year teaching experience had a conception of representations as a tool to solve problems and to illustrate mathematical ideas, and teacher with 8-year teaching experience believes that representations are important for understanding mathematical concepts, explaining mathematical ideas, and solving problems. The implication of this study advocates that mathematics teachers to initiate learning with representations by using objects around them so that students can explore in constructing mathematical understanding and knowledge autonomously.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of problem-solving learning reviewed on adversity quotient and student learning outcomes. This research is a quasi-experimental research with the design Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study were all students of class VII at one of the junior high schools in Merauke, while the random sample was obtained that VII D students became the control class and VII E became the experimental class. The instruments used were tests and non-tests. The data were analyzed in the form of assumption tests with normality and homogeneity tests. With a significance level of 5%, these research results are 1) there are differences in the effectiveness of problem-solving and conventional learning on adversity quotient and student learning outcomes, 2) learning with problem-solving is more effective than conventionally for student learning outcomes, 3) learning with problem-solving is more effective than conventionally against the adversity quotient of students.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian  ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) guru matematika SMP di kabupaten Merauke pada materi segiempat yang ditinjau dari segi gender. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek terdiri atas dua guru perempuan dan dua guru laki-laki. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penyebaran kuesioner PCK dan wawancara. Teknik  analisis  data  yang  digunakan  yaitu  triangulasi teknik yang meliputi reduksi  data,  penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pengetahuan konten guru perempuan lebih baik daripada guru laki-laki. Untuk pengetahuan pedagogik keempat guru menunjukkan penguasaan tentang kurikulum dan kemampuan siswanya dengan sangat baik. Namun terkait rencana pembelajaran masing-masing guru memiliki rencana yang berbeda, ada yang menyusun RPP berdasarkan anjuran Kemendikbud 2020 dan ada pula yang menyusun RPP berdasarkan Kurikulum 2013, namun inti pembelajarannya sama, menggunakan metode pembelajaran diskusi dan tanya jawab untuk mengeksplorasi pengetahuan dan menemukan penyelesaian. Untuk pelaksanaan pembelajaran baik guru laki-laki maupun guru perempuan sama-sama representasi berupa benda-benda di sekitar siswa dengan harapan siswa dapat lebih mudah memahami materi bangun segiempat. Untuk pengetahuan terkait teknik evaluasi pembelajaran, baik guru laki-laki maupun guru perempuan memiliki pengetahuan dalam penilaian proses dan hasil belajar yang baik dengan mempertimbangkan tingkat pemahaman dan kemampuan siswa. The purpose of this paper is to describe the pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of junior high school mathematics teachers in Merauke district on quadrilateral in terms of gender. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Subjects consisted of one female teacher and one male teacher. Data collection techniques used in this study were distributing PCK questionnaires and interviews. The data analysis technique used is the triangulation technique which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of this study indicate that female teachers' content knowledge is better than male teachers. For pedagogic knowledge, both female and male teachers demonstrated excellent mastery of the curriculum and the abilities of their students. However, regarding the learning plan, each teacher has a different plan, there are those who prepare lesson plans based on recommendations from the Ministry of Education and Culture 2020 and some are compiling lesson plans based on the 2013 Curriculum, but the core of learning is the same, using discussion and question and answer learning methods to explore knowledge and find solutions. For the implementation of learning, both male and female teachers are representations of objects around students with the hope that students can more easily understand the material of rectangular shapes. For knowledge related to learning evaluation techniques, both male and female teachers have good knowledge in assessing learning processes and outcomes by considering the level of understanding and ability of students

Abstract

Creating engaging content is the foundation for teachers to improve the quality of their students' learning. The training is designed to assist teachers in creating engaging learning experiences for their students and increasing student motivation to learn. Because of the current COVID-19 pandemic, all levels of education require distance learning. As a result, all teachers must deliver lessons to students remotely. Furthermore, this training is intended to prepare teachers to adapt to technological advancements because learning and teaching activities may be carried out online or offline in the future.

Abstract

This training has the aim of introducing the Desmos page as a medium for learning mathematics and training teachers to use it in the learning process. Participants in this training were 15 teachers who were members of the Mathematics MGMP for SMP Kabupaten Merauke. The methods used are presentation, demonstration and practice. This training activity is divided into three stages: preparation stage, implementation stage and evaluation stage. The results obtained are that most of the training participants are proficient in operating the Desmos page and this training has provided new knowledge to visualize abstract Mathematical objects. With the completion of this training, it is hoped that all training participants can apply the Desmos page in the mathematics learning process.

Abstract

Beliefs have been identified as an affect on the psychology of mathematics education. Additionally, representations play a paramount role in mathematics teaching and learning. However, few studies have examined prospective teachers' beliefs and their relationship to representations in problem-solving. The purpose of this study is to examine prospective mathematics teachers' beliefs and representations in solving word problems review from gender differences. This study involves 103 college students from the mathematics education department at a public university in Merauke Regency. The data were gathered using a questionnaire, a test, and in-depth interviews. A questionnaire was utilized to elicit the belief of prospective teachers. A test and interview were conducted to evoke data about participants' representations when solving word problems. The male student was found to be capable of arriving at a solution employing multiple representations. Due to the inaccurate representation constructed, the female student was unable to find the correct solution. This work implies that lecturers should heed prospective teachers' beliefs and generate representations of the focal point of classroom learning practice.
