Abstract

Vocabulary considered one of the important things to learn for students, the vocabulary is basic thing that students must be mastered in foreign language lessons, especially in English. Without vocabulary students will have difficulty in mastering skills in English such as writing, reading, listening and speaking. Therefore, it is very important to find out the solution to enhance students’ vocabulary. The objective of the research is to find out whether or not using Jumbled letters can improve the students vocabulary of the tenth grade students in MAN 2 Barru and to find out whether or not using Crossword puzzle can improve the students vocabulary of the tenth grade students in MAN 2 Barru. This research applied quasi-experimental group design with two groups experimental and control class. The population of this research was the tenth grade students of MAN 2 Barru in academic year 2018/2019. The Total sample of the research was taken by using clustering random sampling which consisted of 141 students. From two classes taken from the population of the tenth grade students of MAN 2 Barru, X MIA 1 as the experimental class consisted 29 students and X MIA 3 as the control class that consisted 29 students. The result of the data analysis showed that there was a significant difference of students’ vocabulary before and after teaching vocabulary through jumbled word letters. The value of t-test pre-test 2.09 was higher than t-table 2.000, and the value of post-test 4.62 was higher than t-table 2.000, at the level significance a =0.05 and degree of freedom (df) = 56. It can be concluded that jumbled word letters can enhance the vocabulary of the tenth grade students’ of MAN 2 Barru

Abstract

English teaching is a process that the teacher interacts with students. Asking and answering are the primary ways to communicate with each other, so questioning plays a central role in classroom. It urges students to think actively and develops their creative thinking. Because of the importance of questions to the research process, one of the things a teacher at a university tries to teach students is how to ask good questions, and how to answer them appropriately. This makes the process of questioning important in every class taught at a university. Questions are important to the students in a class for two reasons: (1) Students learn to ask questions by asking questions. Students learn to ask good questions by asking questions and then receiving feedback on them. Students learn to become scholars by learning to ask good questions; (2) student asking a question is at that moment a self-motivated learner - a researcher. This is the behavior trying to nurture

Abstract

The development of technology is one of the factors that participate in influencing the behavior of students in learning. In this study, the author tries to create an interesting learning media for students and can be used not only during class hours but wherever and whenever they can access it. One of the media that can be used is E-book. This study uses Research and Development using the ADDIE Model. The population and sample of this study were Nursing Students STIKES YAPIKA Makassar in the 2020/2021 academic year. The development procedure is divided into five stages, namely 1) Analysis stage in the form of literature study and field study and needs analysis, 2) Design stage, 3) Development stage, 4) Implementation stage and 5) Evaluation stage. Research data were collected using documentation and questionnaires which were analyzed descriptively and inferential statistics through SPSS version 22 for Windows. It is hoped that from the results of this study, lecturers can apply or use learning media that are in accordance with the times, namely E-books that can be accessed by students not only in class but anywhere and anytime. Abstract

As the application of the four competencies for the lecturers in teaching and learning, it becomes a new business for them to fulfill those competencies (pedagogical, professional, personality, social). This has an impact on the provision of a new method for students in learning activities so that a lecturer would be able to develop a curriculum in accordance with the respective educational unit and the local needs of each student. The first pedagogical competence deals with the ability of a lecturer in managing the classroom and facilitates the students’ diversity. Sometimes lecturers apply different pedagogic actions with students' perceptions so that what is they supposed good by lecturers sometimes inversely with students’ intake. The aim of this study was to facilitate the perception of the students in regard to the pedagogical competence of a good lecturer. The result supposed to be some consideration from the lecturer in applied pedagogical action in the classroom.
