Abstract

THE EFFECT OF CUTTING AGES AND LEVEL OF ORGANIC FERTILIZER ON VEGETATIVE GROWTH OF BRACHIARIA HUMIDICOLA (Case Study At Agrostology Laboratory Faculty Of Animal ScienceSam Ratulangi UniversityManado)Brachiaria humidicola is a forages as animal feed. Defolation is a proces which is apart of vegetative removed by human or by grazing animals. Brahum is one of perenial species has stolon and has a good  ground cover. From agrostology point of view Brahum needs a good agronomic management and it is not as weeds species.     The aim of this experiment to asses the effect of defolition and level of organic fertilizer on vegetative growth of Brahum Treatments consist of ages of cutting of 30 day and 40 day after triming, and level of organic fertilizer of P1=0 gr; P2=400 gr; P3=800 gr; P4=1200 gr/polybag. Variable measured was the number of stolon, long of stolon and number of tiller. Treatment was arranged factorial 2x4 based on completly randomized design (RAL) with 4 replication.     The results of this research show that the interaction of treatments significandtly effected on all variabel measured, and the best result found at interaction between cutting ages 40 day and level of organic fertilizer 400 gr/polybag. Based on this result it could be concluded that do get the best performance of Brahum need to cut at 40 days regrowth and dosis of organic fertilizer by 400 gr/polybag. Keywords : Age of cutting, organic fertilizer, Vegetative growth, Brahum

Abstract

APPLICATION OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR CATTLE BREEDING  GROUP IN TUMALUNTUNG VILLAGE  KAUDITAN SUB DISTRICT NORTH MINAHASA. Cattle’s breeding in Indonesia is generally still done traditionally, which the cattle are allowed to feed themselves, while the numbers of grass / forage become less and lower in nutritional value. This will affect on cattle productivity adversely. To overcome this, it is necessary to peform of a grass silage preservation and supplemental feeding using an urea-sugar palm-block (UGB), so the feed remains available all the time and the nutritional value becomes better. Tumaluntung is a village in KauditanSubdistrict of North Minahasa Regency, which produces brown sugar as its main crop. In this village there are several groups of cattle bereeders, among them group Mateluntung I and Mateluntung II.Pre-survey showed that the problems faced by the cattle breeders in this village were lack of knowledge by group members to raise cattle, lack of knowledge to provide qualified  of forage sustainability, lack of knowledge about making silage and UGB. Therefore, we had done an empowerment  cattle breeder groups to increase their knowledge, skills and their income. Method was carried out through counselling and training. Members of the group responded well to this application of science and technology, this can be seen from the availability of elephant grass and dwarf grass. Other products produced were silage and UGB. Keywords : Group of breeders, cattle, silage, UGB

Abstract

EFFECT OF BOKASHI FERTILIZER LEVEL CHICKEN MANURE ON THE GROWHTH OF BROWN MID RIB (BMR) SORGHUM. The purpose of the present research was to determine effect of bokashi fertilizer level chicken manure on the growhth of brown mid rib (bmr) sorghum. The research was used in a completely randomized design arrangement, with 4 treatments and 7 replications. Treatments were formulated as follow : b1 = 0 g/polybag, b2 = 200 g/polybag, b3 = 400 g/polybag, b4 = 800 g/polybag. Parameters measured were : plant height, number of leaves length of leaves. Research result showed that,  bokashi fertilizer of chicken manure gave a significant different (p<0,05) on plant height, number of leaves leaves length of brown mid rib sorghum. Based on the research result, it can be concluded that, the utilization  of bokashi fertilizer level chicken manure with 200 g/polybag, enough to support  the growth of plant height, number of leaves and leaves length of brown mid rib sorghum. Keywords : Bokashi Fertilizer Level Chicken Manure, Brown Mid Rib Sorghum, Growth.

Abstract

ABSTRACT COMPARISON OF BIOLOGICAL VALUE OF LOCAL AND IMPORT FEED IN INDONESIAN CHILD RACE HORSE. This research aims to determine the livestock child race horse's ability to digest feed, both local and imported feed. Digestibility of nutrients is a factor that determines the quality of feed ingredients or feed consumed by the livestock horses. This research used Statistics t-test method.Techniques of data retrieval are interviews and direct observations at sites of breeding racehorses. Data collected ie the type of local feed (corn, rice bran, fish meal, soybean, mung beans, coconut cake) and the types of imported feed (sustaina). The amount of feed (forage and concentrates) were given to livestock of child racehorse obtain the amount of feces (g / head / day) is then taken as many as 12 samples each of 8 racehorses using local feed and 4 racehorses use imported feed. The variables measured are digestibility of energy and protein digestibility. The results of the research are digestible energy (local feed ± 85.92 and imported feed ± 87.58) and protein digestibility (local feed ± 75.86 and imported feed 86.89 ±). T test, showed that the energy digestibility of feed imports give effect not significantly different (P> 0.05) compared to local feed while the digestibility of protein feed imports significantly different (P <0.01) in comparison with the local feed. Based on these results it can be concluded that the digestibility of protein for imported feed better than the local feed. Keywords: livestock horses, local feed, imported feed, digestibility
