Abstract

The study was conducted for 21 days from August 28, 2017 to October 3, 2017, at the UB Animal Husbandry Nutrition and Food Laboratory, Malang. The study aims to determine the use of 4 types of additives on the quality of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF) mini elephant grass silage (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott). The material used is mini elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott) which is harvested at the age of 31 days. Fresh grass is aerated for approximately 12 hours, then chopped 2-5 cm in size. The study used 4 treatments and 5 replications based on a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The duration of the ensilase process is 21 days. The length of treatment that was tried was P1 (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott + rice bran), P2 (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott + ?ampok maize?), P3 (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott + ?onggok?), P4 (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott + mollases). The use of 4 types of additives produces the same response on silage DM with DM content ranging from 17.44-20.34%, CP content ranging from 7.59-11.28%, CF content ranging from 24.50-28.56%, The highest content of 11.28% CP silage obtained from the use of ?ampok maize?. It is recommended, making Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott silage using ?ampok maize? additives as much as 10% of fresh weight. Penelitian dilakukan selama 21 hari mulai tanggal 28 Agustus 2017- 3 Oktober 2017, di Laboratorium Nutrisi dan Makanan Ternak Universitas Brawijaya Malang. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui penggunaan 4 jenis aditif terhadap kualitas bahan kering (BK), protein kasar (PK), serat kasar (SK) silase rumput gajah mini (pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott). Materi yang digunakan yaitu rumput gajah mini (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott) yang dipanen pada umur 31 hari. Rumput segar dianginkan selama kurang lebih 12 jam, kemudian dicacah ukuran 2-5 cm. Penelitian mengunakan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan berdasarkan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Lama proses ensilase adalah 21 hari. Perlakuan yang dicobakan yaitu P1 (Rumput Gajah mini + Dedak padi), P2 (Rumput Gajah mini + Ampok jagung), P3 (Rumput Gajah mini + Onggok), P4 (Rumput Gajah mini + Molases). Penggunaan 4 jenis aditif menghasilkan respon yang sama pada BK silase dengan kandungan BK berkisar 17,44-20,34%, kandungan SK silase berkisar 24,50-28,56%, kandungan PK silase berkisar 7,59-11,28%. Kandungan PK silase tertinggi 11,28% diperoleh dari penggunaan ampok jagung. Disarankan, pembuatan silase rumput gajah mini (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott) menggunakan bahan aditif ampok jagung sebanyak 10 % dari berat segar.
