Abstract

Abstrak Budaya dan pendidikan merupakan dua hal yang saling melengkapi. Sehingga seyogyanya budaya dapat yang diajarkan melalui pendidikan. Dibanding diajarkan secara langsung, pengajaran budaya akan lebih menarik jika pengajarannya diintegrasikan dalam mata pelajaran. Peneliti menyadari bahwa selama menjadi siswa di sekolah di Mojokerto belum pernah mendapat integrasi budaya pada mata pelajaran di sekolah terutama pelajaran Matematika, sehingga peneliti berpikiran bahwa Matematika dan budaya sama sekali tidak berhubungan. Hal itu kemudian mendorong peneliti untuk melakukan penelitian deksriptif transformatif dengan subjek penelitiannya diri sendiri dan pelaku seni di desa Trowulan. Karena pengertian budaya yang luas, penelitian ini berfokus hanya pada seni tradisi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi autetnografi dan etnografi dengan metode writing as inquiry, observasi, wawancara dan studi literatur. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan adanya unsur Matematika sekolah dasar yaitu membilang, lingkaran, simetri, perkalian, pola Matematika, pengukuran dan skala perbandingan pada budaya bantengan, patrol dan patung. Hasil penelitian akhirnya berdampak mengubah pandangan peneliti yang sebelumnya berpikir bahwa budaya dan Matematika sama sekali tidak ada hubungannya, berubah dan kemudian memahami bahwa budaya dan Matematika berkaitan sangat erat. Kata Kunci: Matematika, budaya, seni tradisi, etnomatematika. Abstract Culture and education are two things that complement each other. That is why culture can be taught through education. Instead of being taught directly, teaching culture is more interesting if it is integrated into the subject. The researcher realize when she was a student at school in Mojokerto she had never got the integration of culture into subjects in school especially Mathematics, so that the researcher has thought that Mathematics and culture is totally unrelated. It was then encouraging the researcher to conduct a transformative descriptive study with the subject of this study are the researcher herself and artists in the village of Trowulan. Due to the broad cultural understanding, research focuses on traditional art. This research uses autetnography and ethnography methodology with writing as inquiry method, observation, interview and literature study. The results indicate the elementary elementary school mathematics that is count, circle, symmetry, multiplication, mathematical patterns, measurement and comparison scale on the culture of bantengan, patrol and sculpture. The results of the research ultimately had an impact on changing the views of researcher who previously thought that culture and Mathematics had absolutely nothing to do, changed and then understood that culture and Mathematics are closely related.
