Abstract

Feed which is one of the most important factors in increasing fish growth must have good nutritional quality, meanwhile there is a problem of production efficiency in aquaculture, especially in intensive aquaculture caused by high feed costs due to high protein requirements. The effort to reduce the role of protein as a source of energy in feed is to maximize the use of feed carbohydrates as an energy source. This study aims to determine the type of carbohydrate raw material that is most effectively hydrolyzed by cow's rumen liquid waste and determine the type of feed carbohydrate raw material that is effective after being fed beef rumen fluid to maximize growth and survival in milkfish. The method in this study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments, namely (a) control using commercial feed; (b) feed with carbohydrate as a source of flour; and (c) feed with the source of raw material carbohydrate refined bran flour. The growth and survival data obtained were analyzed by variance analysis (ANOVA) and continued with the W-Tuckey test. The results of the analysis showed that feeding with various types of carbohydrate sources in the feed which was fermented first using cow's rumen liquid waste significantly affected (P <0.05) on the growth and survival of milkfish. Feeding with carbohydrate sources both wheat flour and fine bran which is fermented first by using cow rumen liquid waste provides growth and survival in milkfish which is better than the use of commercial feed.

Abstract

One of the common diseases found in tilapia is a streptococcal disease caused by the Streptococcus agalactiae bacteria. Treatment of this disease is generally done by using antibiotics.  The use of antibiotics in controlling disease in fish can create resistant bacterial strains with certain doses. The use of vaccines is one of the alternative control methods in fish defence against infections. The purpose of this study was to analyze the efficacy of vaccination on seeds through immersion using attenuated active bacteria to increase immunity at the beginning of the spread of streptococcosis disease. The vaccine used was obtained from attenuated Streptococcus agalactiae bacteria through repeated passage ten times. Vaccination was carried out through oral vaccine. Challenge tests were carried out on days 7, 14, and 21 days after vaccination on tilapia larvae by immersion. The result indicated that vaccination using attenuated bacteria could increase lysozyme activity at each observation time compared to control. The mortality of post-challenged larvae on days 7, 14 and 21 post-vaccination was lower than that of unvaccinated seed. The percentage of RPS values up to the 14th day of observation has increased and tends to decrease on the 21st day.

Abstract

Efforts to reduce protein in fish feed by maximizing the use of carbohydrates as an energy source must be supported by exogenous enzymes. One source of exogenous enzymes that can be used as a polysaccharide degrading agent easily obtained and wasted is rumen liquid in slaughterhouses (RPH). This study aims to determine the most effective carbohydrate level after being given rumen liquid as a source of exogenous enzymes in maximizing nutrient digestibility and feed efficiency in milkfish (Chanos chanos Forsskal). This study was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consisted of 4 treatments and three replications. Thus there were 12 experimental units. The treatments tested were feeds with various levels of carbohydrates (27.81%; 39.50%; 46.97%; and 56.75%) then given cow rumen liquid as a source of the enzyme at a dose of 80 mL/100 g of feed. Nutrient digestibility and feed efficiency data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with the W-Tuckey test. The results showed that feeding with various levels of carbohydrates in the feed that was first given cow rumen liquid waste had a significant effect (P<0.05) on fibre digestibility, carbohydrate digestibility, and feed efficiency of milkfish, but had no significant impact (P>0.05) on total digestibility, protein digestibility, and fat digestibility of milkfish. The most effective carbohydrate level in feed after being given cow rumen liquid which can optimize nutrient digestibility and feed efficiency of milkfish, is 46.97%.

Abstract

Ikan bandeng merupakan salah satu komoditi perikanan payau yang memiliki nilai ekonomis tinggi dan berpotensi untuk terus dikembangkan. Namun pada kenyataannya dalam kegiatan budidaya, biaya pakan mencapai 60-75% dari total biaya produksi. Pakan yang dikonsumsi ikan sebaiknya mengandung nutrisi yang mudah dicerna dan diserap dengan baik oleh ikan, sehingga pakan tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Salah satu pemanfaatan pakan optimal yang dapat dilaksanakan dengan mudah adalah melalui penambahan enzim eksogen yang berasal dari limbah cairan rumen pada pakan ikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan level karbohidrat yang efektif dalam pakan setelah diberi cairan rumen untuk mengoptimalkan retensi nutrient dan komposisi kimia tubuh ikan bandeng. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan desain acak lengkap, terdiri dari 4 perlakuan level karbohidrat dalam pakan (27,81; 39,50; 46,97 dan 56,75) kemudian dicampur dengan 80 mL cairan rumen/100 g pakan. Pakan diberikan pada juvenil ikan bandeng berukuran 7,19±0,036 g yang dipelihara dalam akuarium resirkulasi kepadatan 15 ekor/45 L air payau. Parameter yang diamati adalah retensi nutrient dan komposisi kimia tubuh ikan bandeng. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis ANOVA dan jika terdapat pengaruh nyata dilakukan uji lanjut W-Tuckey. Pemberian berbagai level karbohidrat pakan berpengaruh nyata terhadap retensi nutrien (P0,05). Level karbohidrat 46,97% dalam pakan memberikan retensi protein tertinggi sedangkan level karbohidrat 39,50% memberikan retensi lemak tertinggi yang nilainya masing-masing adalah 14,32±2,40 dan 22,49±4,57. Level karbohidrat terbaik dalam pakan setelah diberi cairan rumen yang dapat mengoptimalkan retensi nutrient dan komposisi kimia tubuh ikan bandeng adalah 46,57%.

Abstract

Cairan rumen merupakan salah satu limbah buangan rumah potong hewan (RPH) yang kaya enzim pencernaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan konsentrasi cairan rumen untuk menghidrolisis pakan ikan. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan oktober-november 2015 di Hatchery mini FIKP Unhas dan analisis sampel dilaksanakan di BPPBAP Maros, Sulawesi Selatan. Cairan rumen diambil dari isi rumen sapi yang berasal dari RPH Makassar dengan cara filtrasi (penyaringan dengan kain katun) kemudian cairan dimasukkan ke dalam termos agar suhunya tetap hangat. Pakan yang digunakan adalah pakan komersial dengan kadar protein 30%, lemak  4%, dan serat kasar 6% dihidrolisis dengan cairan rumen pada konsentrasi  tanpa cairan rumen/kontrol, 40, 60, 80, dan (E) 100 mL/100 g pakan. Volume cairan rumen setiap perlakuan disamakan dengan menambahkan aquades dan disemprotkan secara merata pada pakan, selanjutnya diinkubasi selama 24 jam pada suhu ruang. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan sidik ragam (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji W-Tuckey. Hasil analisis  menunjukkan bahwa pemberian berbagai konsentrasi cairan rumen pada pakan berpengaruh nyata (p0,05) terhadap serat kasar dan protein pakan tetapi tidak berpengaruh (p0,05) terhadap lemak (1,331-1,457 %bk) dan BETN (7,748-7,875 %bk) pakan ikan komersial. Kadar serat terendah 1,999±0,039 %bk terjadi pada pemberian cairan rumen 80, 2,214±0,156 %bk, 2,309±0,080 %bk, 2,413±0,105 %bk  dan 2,507±0,028 %bk masing-masing pada 60, 100, 40 dan control. Kadar protein tertinggi 30,630±0,360%bk terjadi pada pemberian cairan rumen 80, 29,523±0,32%bk, 28,460±0,21%bk, 28,260±0,307%bk  dan 25,678±3,70%bk masing-masing pada control, 40, 100, dan 60. Dengan demikian konsentrasi cairan rumen terbaik untuk menghidrolisis pakan komersial adalah 80 mL/100 g pakan.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the potential of freshwater fish aquaculture in Minasatene District, Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi Province. Data collection techniques were carried out by observing the location of freshwater fish aquaculture, interviewing respondents using questionnaires and documentation. The type of data collected is primary data, namely observation data regarding the distribution of freshwater fish aquaculture locations, types and quantities of freshwater fish production as well as supporting data through interviews with respondents of freshwater fish aquaculture business actors related to the activities carried out, then secondary data from agencies related to production results. Freshwater fish in Minasatene District. This research was conducted in Minasatene District, Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi Province, in February – April 2021. The results of this study are the aquaculture potential of freshwater fish in the Minasatene sub-district of 1.28 tons/year/ha with the largest producer of freshwater fish coming from Minasate'ne Village and Kalabbirang Village with potential production of tilapia, catfish and koi fish. Factors affecting the production of freshwater fish aquaculture in the Minasatene sub-district are the number of abandoned freshwater fish aquaculture lands, non-optimal management, traditional management, dependence on government assistance, the influence of COVID-19, and conversion of cultivated land into tourist areas.

Abstract

Milkfish is a commodity from aquaculture that is in great demand by the community, both for local consumption and export commodities. In the fish farming business, including milkfish, the feeding management process is one of the efforts made to support the success of the aquaculture business because feed is one of the determining factors for the success of cultivation, both in terms of feed quantity and feed quality. In Ampekale Village, Bontoa District, Maros Regency, a group of fish cultivators (Pokdakan) where some cultivators anticipate the high price of artificial feed by substituting expired noodles and bread as a substitute for artificial feed. The purpose of this study was to analyze the level of profit for milkfish cultivators who used different feeds, namely cultivators who used feeds of (1) expired noodles or bread; (2) commercial feed; and (3) mixed feed between expired noodles or bread + commercial feed. The data obtained in this study were analyzed using variance (ANOVA) analysis to see the effect of different feeding on the profits of milkfish cultivators in the Simaranang fish cultivator group (Pokdakan), then continued with the W-Tuckey test to see the difference in profits between each cultivator. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the highest annual cultivation profit was obtained by cultivators who used a mixture of commercial feed and expired noodle/bread feed (Rp. 16,681,750/year) followed by cultivators who used commercial feed (Rp 9,123,000/year) and the profit. The lowest was experienced by cultivators who only used expired noodles/bread (Rp. 7,875,000/year)

Abstract

Variasi suhu air memengaruhi pertumbuhan dan fisiologi organisme ektotermal secara langsung, termasuk ikan. Studi ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh suhu air pemeliharaan terhadap performa pertumbuhan dan respons fisiologis benih Tor tambroides. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL), terdiri atas empat perlakuan suhu berbeda (24°C, 26°C, 28°C, dan 30°C) dan tiga ulangan. Benih Tor tambroides (panjang total 4,18 ± 0,32 cm; bobot tubuh 0,66 ± 0,03 g) sebanyak 15 ekor dipelihara per akuarium (dimensi 40 cm x 40 cm x 40 cm; volume air 40 L) dilengkapi dengan sistem aerasi dilengkapi dengan heater. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan suhu air pemeliharaan berbeda memberikan pengaruh yang nyata (P<0,05) terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan (pertumbuhan mutlak dan laju pertumbuhan spesifik, sintasan) dan respons fisiologi (kadar hemoglobin) benih Tor tambroides. Perlakuan dengan suhu 28°C pada benih Tor tambroides menghasilkan bobot tubuh mutlak (1,01 ± 0,30 g) dan laju pertumbuhan spesifik bobot tertinggi (3,18 ± 0,14% hari-1), sintasan (99,37 ± 1,25%), dan rasio konversi pakan (FCR) terendah (0,94 ± 0,04). Kadar hemoglobin dan hematokrit tertinggi pada suhu pemeliharaan 30°C. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa suhu air pada 28°C merupakan suhu efisien untuk pemeliharaan benih Tor tambroides.Water temperature directly affects the growth and physiology of ectothermic organisms, including fish. Hence, the experiment was conducted to study the effect of temperature variation on growth performance and physiological response of Tor tambroides juveniles. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four temperature treatments (24°C, 26°C, 28°C, and 30°C) arranged in triplicates. There were 15 Tor tambroides juveniles (total length 4.18 ± 0.32 cm; body weight 0.66 ± 0.03 g) reared in each aquarium (dimensions 40 cm x 40 cm x 40 cm; water volume 40 L) equipped with an aeration system and a heater. The results showed that different rearing water temperatures had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the growth performance (absolute growth, specific growth rate, and survival rate) and the physiological response (hemoglobin value) of the Tor tambroides fingerlings. Tor tambroides fingerlings reared with temperature setting at 28°C showed the highest absolute body weight (1.01 ± 0.30 g) and highest specific growth rate of weight (3.18 ± 0.14% day-1), survival rate (99.37 ± 1.25%), and the lowest FCR (0.94 ± 0.04). The highest hemoglobin and hematocrit levels of the juveniles were found at 30°C. The study showed that the water temperature at 28°C was effective for rearing Tor tambroides fingerlings.
