ENGLISH LESSON PLAN IMPLEMENTATION BY TEACHERS CANDIDATE IN MICRO TEACHING COURSE AT FKIP OF HKBP NOMMENSEN UNIVERSITY Silalahi, Dumaris E

English lesson plan is a set of learning plans contains essential guidance for the teacher referring to English teaching material. Successful teaching is not determined by the learners? achievement but also teaching process, which is prepared well by the teacher. It is the proof of teaching as transferring the knowledge. Referring to this case, this research was intended to find out the extent of the English lesson plan implementation by the teacher candidates of English department students as the learner of English as a foreign language. The implementation was observed engaging 65 students who were attending a microteaching class which was one of education compulsory and requirement subject at FKIP of HKBP Nommensen University. Quantitative research design was used to find out the extent of implementation English Lesson plan of the subject. The research found the level of the implementation at 15,19% at level of high, 27,69 % of moderate, 25,00% at low, and 32,11 of poor. It indicates that the English lesson plan implementation by the teacher candidates as the sample in this research was still low.

This research investigated about adjacency pairs in conversation of the Black Panther movie from five main characters in the movie. This research used qualitative research by applied content analysis as a research design. The data obtained from transcript of Black Panther movie which has 134 minutes duration. The researchers transcribed the data in written form and analyzed by using theory of adjacency pairs. The researchers found 71 data of the conversation five main characters in the movie. Based on the research, there are 71 data of conversation that consist of thirteen types of adjacency pairs. From 71 data of conversation, there are 2 pairs of greeting-greeting sequence, 2 pairs of summons-answer sequence, 2 pairs of apology-minimization sequence, 24 pairs of question-answer sequence, 2 pairs of request-acceptance/refusal sequence, 4 pairs of offer-acceptance/refusal sequence, 2 pairs of blame-admission/denial sequence, 3 pairs of invitation-acceptance/refusal sequence, 8 pairs ofÂ assessment-agreement/disagreement sequence, 11 pairs of commands-compliance/incompliance sequence, 2 pairs of suggestion-acceptance/refusal sequence, 3 pairs of assertion-agreement/disagreement sequence and 6 pairs of announcement-acknowledgement sequence. From the research finding it can be concluded that question-answer was mostly-appeared type of adjacency pairs in the conversation by five main characters in the movie

This research aims at exploring high school students’ perception towards the use of ICT in EFL learning. To achieve the objective, 44 students at eleventh grade majoring in Language and Culture Science (IBB) SMA Negeri 1 Dolok Batu Nanggar located in Serbelawan were surveyed using questionnaire. The data obtained was analyzed by employing the descriptive analysis technique using questionnaire distributed to students in the form of Google Form. The results showed that the students’ perception was positive and high in each perception aspects in the questionnaire given. They are attractiveness, perceived effectiveness, and relevancy aspects that obtained index score of 86%, 84%, and 85% or categorized as strongly agree response, and 77% for perceived motivation aspects or categorized as agree response. Based on the result obtained, this study can be concluded that the use of ICT in EFL learning is attractive, effective, and relevant to the English material students need to learn. It also motivates students to learn English more.

Schools must recognize that school culture has an effect on the development of character in students. With the prevalence of numerous character flaws among students, it is expected that through school culture, students will be able to form their character through a school-based habit. Teachers at SMK Swasta Teladan in Tanah Jawa, Simalungun Regency, were the recipients of this community service. Thirty-three teachers were among those who took part in the socialization. This was a qualitative research project with a descriptive approach. The approaches used in this case are lectures and group discussions, with information being given first, followed by a question and answer session about the material. After having all methods provided, the results of the socialization through the school culture implementation possibly to be implemented to support the character education were: 1) cultivating religious tolerance values, 2) The implementation of school ceremonies, 3) implementation of working groups (PokJa) in schools, 4) The use of student-centered learning (student-oriented learning) during the learning process, 5) Using scouts in schools for students’ training to be more independent, and the last was prizes should be granted to students including all areas events, not only for academic areas. Last but not least, the role of school culture really can strengthen and support the character education for the students.

Abstrak: Tujuan dari program pengabdian ini adalah untuk menanamkan wawasan dan juga pengetahuan perihal keterampilan yang wajib dimiliki oleh seorang guru di masa setelah pandemi Covid-19. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan melalui metode ceramah dengan menggunakan presentasi powerpoint, tanya jawab dan juga diskusi tentang berbagai permasalahan yang muncul di sekolah. Kegiatan seminar dalam rangka pengabdian kepada masyarakat Kepala sekolah dan guru anggota KN-LWF anggota KN-LWF Pematangsiantar yang berjumlah 63 orang ini hadir dalam seminar yang bertempat di GKPS Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Pematangsiantar pada tanggal 23 November 2021 ini. Hasil dari pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah guru menjadi paham dan juga mendapatkan gambaran terhadap apa yang perlu dipersiapkan oleh diri mereka dalam mendapatkan kemampuan keterampilan 4C abad ke 21 melalui diskusi dan juga tanya jawab setelah pemaparan selesai. Dari kegiatan pengabdian tersebut, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa guru dalam dunia pendidikan harus memiliki 4C 21st Century Learning Skills dan memberikan dampak yang mendalam bagi generasi penerus bangsa, memungkinkan mereka menghadapi dan mengatasi tantangan kehidupan abad ke-21.Abstract: The purpose of this community service program is to instill insight and knowledge about the skills that a teacher must possess in the post-Covid-19 pandemic. This community service was done through a lecture method using PowerPoint presentations, questions and answers and also discussions on a variety of issues that arise in the school. The seminar activities in the context of community service Pematangsiantar's KN-LWF members' principals and teachers, a total of 63 people, were in attendance at this seminar which was located at GKPS Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Pematangsiantar on November 23, 2021. The result of the implementation of this activity is that teachers understand and also get an idea of what they need to be prepared for in gaining 21st century 4C skills through discussion and also question and answer after the presentation was completed. After completing the community research, the researchers summarized that teachers in the world of education must have the 4C 21st Century Learning Skills and have a profound impact on the nation's next generation, enabling them to face and overcome 21st-century life's challenges.

It was the goal of this study to figure out what kinds of figurative language Selena Gomez's song lyrics contain and to found out the interpretation in those songs. There wer six songs of Selena Gomez chosen to be the source of data, namely: Lose you to love me, Vulnerable, Wolves, Let me get me, People you know, Back to you. To collect the data, browsing the website Genius.com, searched the scripts of the song lyrics and copying and printing the song lyrics as data. Qualitative research was used in this study. Document or content analysis is a common application for this technique. Analyzing the data included various steps such as classifying it, describing it, tabulating it, and drawing conclusions from it. As a technique for verifying the validity of the data, the researchers in this study used data triangulation. Overall, Selena Gomez's song lyrics had 44 figurative language analysis data points. There were 3 (7%) data of simile, 20 (45%) data of metaphor, 2 (5%) data of personification, 2 (5%) data of metonymy, 3 (7%) data of symbol, 2 (5%) data of paradox, 11 (25%) data of hyperbole and 1(1%) data of irony. Through this research, the researcher would like to suggest people to analyze figurative language in the song, because figurative language is an interesting subject to study and analyze. In each types of figurative language are having other meaning. That is why the researcher thinks it is important for English student who want to know more about meaning especially about figurative language.

Since March 2020, teaching and learning at schools have come to a new reality that both teachers and students should be able utilize any model of online learning due to the outbreak of Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19). Google Classroom is a online learning platform has been considered the possible approach to continue the teaching and learning process during this pandemic. Referring to this case, this research was intended to find out students perception of using Google Classroom as English teaching media during Corona Virus 2019. The implementation was observed engaging 34 students of 11-PMIA-2. Survey research was used to find out students perception of using Google Classroom in online English class. Questionnaire was used to collect the data about students’ perception. The results showed students have positive perception toward Google Classroom. It was online teaching media which able to support students English learning activities and made students engaging in learning English,useful and helpful for the students in order to achieved English learning goal by using the system distributed ,managing-grading task,teacher intervention on feedback and evaluation task of students which helped students learnt and understand English during Corona Virus 2019.

this research intends to investigate the effect of Think-Pare-Share (TPS) strategy in reading comprehension by the third semester of English Department Studentsat FKIP Universitas HKBP NommensenPematangsiantar. The subjects of the research are 30 students as experiment and control group. This research applies quantitative research method in analyzing the data which refers to the number in the form of students’ value as the measurement of students’reading comprehension. This research conducted into the third semester at academic year 2014-2015 as the population and the sample is class A and B. based on the data analysis, the researcher finds out the effect of TPS strategy in students’ reading comprehension by these research findings show that the mean of students’ score in experiment class is 41,73 than in control class is 11, 34. There are 28 students who get the highest score in experiment class. They get the mean score more than 55. 65 or 93% students get high score while in control class there are 25 students who get the 41, 34 mean score or 83% as the highest score

The study's goal was to find out how students at SMK Negeri 1 Bandar Masilam felt about using Google Classroom to learn English and how easy it was to use. Google Classroom is one of the learning media. Google Classroom is a well-known tool in the education sector, particularly at the collegiate level. Google Classroom was used by some teachers as a learning medium. Google Classroom in language learning is being studied using qualitative research methods and a questionnaire as an instrument. Twenty students from SMK Negeri 1 Bandar Masilam's Class X Tkj-1 and X Tkj-2 will participate in the study. Research and discussion have shown that students' perceptions of Google Classroom use have a positive response. Most students agree that Google Classroom is easy to use and that it helps students learn English by allowing them to save and retrieve assignments and, in the case of Google Classroom, submit assignments. As a result, using Google Classroom to learn English is a wise decision.

This research intended to find out components of transitive system used on news Jakarta post about some good Covid-19 related news. Therefore, the researcher formulated a question as the problem as follows: â€œWhat are components of transitive system used on news Jakarta post about some good Covid-19 related news?â€ The researcher used qualitative design because data are collected by using documents in form of word and a procedure of systematic analysis of content text (words, phrase, documents, etc.), analysis content by qualitative enable researchers to understand the text by grouping words that have same meaning into categories. The research finding showed that component of transitivity system. There are three transitive system namely participants, process, and circumstances. First, participants found namely goal, actor, sayer, senser, verbiage, value, token carrier, attribute, behaver, client, recipient, phenomenon, and receiver with calculate is 177 participants, the highest participant is actor (26.55%). The second process found material, mental, verbal, behavioral, relational with calculate is 103 processes, the highest process is material (44.67%). The third, circumstance found extent, locution, contingency, manner, matter, and role, with calculates are 80 times. The highest circumstance is extents or time (30 %).
