<![CDATA[ABSTRAKÂ Selain sebagai bahan baku utama rokok, tembakau dapat dimanfaatkan untuk produk lain, yaitu dalam rangka mendukung kebijakan pemerintah sebagai pengembangan diversifikasi produk. Kebijakan diversifikasi tercantum dalam Peraturan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia No. 109/2012 tentang Pengamanan Bahan yang Mengandung Zat Aditif Berupa Produk Tembakau Kesehatan (PP Tembakau). Dalam PP Tembakau tersebut (Pasal 58 ayat 1) menyebutkan bahwa diversifikasi dimaksudkan agar penggunaan produk tembakau tidak membahayakan bagi kesehatan.Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, daun tembakau dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi bahan kimia dasar antara lain sebagai bahan baku pestisida, produk kosmetik dan industri farmasi. Tulisan ini ingin menyajikan status penelitian diversifikasi produk tembakau untuk non rokok, antara lain untuk pestisida nabati, identifikasi minyak atsiri dan pemanfaatannya untuk campuran parfum (tabac perfume) dan debu tembakau untuk pupuk kompos. Beberapa produk seperti parfum dan asap cair tembakau sudah dipatenkan.
