Abstract

Islam as religion and power system had entered Europe since seven century, it was a long history for minority religion in present day. Even Islam had a monarchy power in West-East Europe and a strong history of education and social system for hundred years. But, after Cross War in 13rd century and Europe kingdoms colonized againt Asia and Africa in 17th century, the history of powerfull Islam in Europe, esspecially in Spain and France, was disappeared. Only a view academic records on phiposhopy, health knowledge and ancient unique bulidings become a evidences of glorious of Islam. Nowdays, moslem in Europe are totally different situation, contrary to a thousand years ago. The End of War World II and the freedom of Asia and Africa Countries in 1945 made a climate of world politic changed. New countries in Asia and Africa, ex-colonized countries, become a marginal-countries in economic and politic. Especialy moslem countries, this poor condition made some of their citizen moved and transmigrated to Europe countries and America for persuit to better life. England and France, two favorite imigrant contries in Europe, esepcially for muslim from North Africa and Middle East. Unfortunetely, their hopes for better life in the new home land faced a legal citizinship becaused of acception of their tribe-religion identity, that was not eassy to accepted them for local society. There was no another way except a political fight for public policy acknowledgment to guaranteed their citizenship status, primarly for moslem society imigrant in 20th century.

Abstract

Poverty, legal injustice, discrimination, non-fulfillment of human rights and so on are the world's problems arising from development and modernity. But modernity as a result of the innovative nature of human beings is inherent in the world community and can not be abandoned. If we drag it even further, this shift depends on how the policies of the state overcome it. The existing political problems are the point of accumulation of the details of human affairs. Thus, where is the role of Al-Quran in this dynamic world? Islam as the world's largest religion with a very significant growth must be able to contribute to the problems of the world at hand, and should not be the problem trigger. Al-Quran is intended as an Islamic religion, capable of being used for all aspects of human life (sholihun fi kulli zaman wal makan). In fact, Islam today is believed as a world problem correlated to terrorism, civil war and the rise of Muslim refugees. In light of these things, intensiving the interpretation of contemporary political verses in accordance with the present age is a must. Interpretation methods must also be critical so that Islam can be used in various parts of the world. This paper will examine how to seek contemporary interpretation with various divisions and by combining classical interpretation methods that are expected to emerge strong interpretations. Contextualization of the political verses became the focus of the method which was then connected with the spirit of the verse to be applied in the present. In addition, the interpretation is also supported by the analysis of language, analysis of the verses and hadiths that has similar topics, and contextualization with the current conditions. With this new method of interpretation, it is expected that the Qur'an can be a solution for Muslims and the world community in general. Furthermore, Islam is able to initiate the civilization of a just world.

Abstract

The complex interests of humanity have been increasing both in the quality and quantity. An environment with all its resources becomes the main source for humans to fulfill their needs. The basic need to continue living with nature becomes a global problem that should not have happened. The Quran as guidance in Islam has given a warning for all humanity to maintain the environment properly since it will have a good impact on humans themselves. The Quran with all the concepts and terminology about nature and environment shows that Islam is a friendly religion and even obliges its believers to live side by side and recognize natural behaviors properly because humans themselves will get the benefits. Islam as a religion carrying the message rahmatan lil alamin certainly does not exclude or specialize in spreading mercy to humans. It also includes all things in the universe. This paper tries to explain how the views of the Quran on the environment, which indeed provide space or special discussion about environmental safeguards. Thus humans, generally followers of religions and more specifically Muslim, can make religion not only the foundation of worship in the context of getting closer to God. Moreover, religion, in general, must also be able to provide a basic environmental view for its followers.

Abstract

 Perkembangan Islam modern di Amerika dapat dilacak dari akhir abad ke-20, dengan melihat tindakan masyarakat Amerika kelas tiga yang memperjuangkan Islam tidak hanya sebagai agama dakwah, tetapi sebagai gerakan organisasi resmi. Mereka yang notabene adalah budak imigran dari Afrika dan Timur Tengah tentu tidak mudah memperjuangkan Islam sebagai organisasi dan gerakan khususnya NOINation of Islam) sebagai organisasi Islam pertama mereka juga memiliki orientasi politik. Tulisan ini mencoba membedah dinamika komunitas Muslim kulit hitam yang terpinggirkan dalam perjuangannya untuk mendapatkan pengakuan dan keadilan bagi rakyat dan pemerintah Amerika Serikat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan ini adalah metode deskriptif-analisis kepustakaan dengan berbagai sumber tulisan dan penelitian yang mendukung tema penulisan.Kata Kunci: Islam di Amerika, end of 20th century, Afro-America Muslim
