Abstract

ABSTRACT The optimism of students in working on the thesis is important to know so that the faculty can make the right policy to ensure students who do the thesis immediately finish it. Related to this, this study tries to develop an optimism scale, which aims to measure optimism in students who work on thesis, in completing their thesis. This scale is a self-report inventory in a Likert scale format. The scale measures the level of respondents' approval of the items that support the construct of optimism. The greater the scale score, the greater the respondents' optimism, while the smaller the scale score, the respondents can be indicated to be less optimistic. Based on the item analysis the scale netted 11 items of scale which had good homogeneity and item discrimination scores. Furthermore, based on the validity test and reliability test, it is known that this scale is valid and reliable. Keyword: optimism, optimism scale

Abstract

ABSTRACT There have been many changes after the Covid-19 pandemic hit Indonesia. Universities has also changed. Various changes create uncertainty. This uncertainty has an impact on student anxiety. Several previous studies have shown that anxiety is related to student academic achievement. When student academic achievement becomes one of the benchmarks for higher education success, student anxiety becomes a matter of concern. It is important to look at student anxiety during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to see a picture of the student's anxiety level and identify the things that cause anxiety in students. The results showed that hypothetically 74.8% of students had low anxiety, 20.7% of students had moderate anxiety, and 4.5% of students had high anxiety. Empirically most of the research subjects had moderate anxiety; the percentage of students who have high anxiety is greater than those who have low anxiety. Other results show that online lectures and friendship are two things that cause the most anxiety. Abstract

Scavenging is an activity that contains collecting and sell or trade garbage with money. Scavenger or waste pickers is a person who did that kind of activity. In Indonesia, it is estimated that there are 5 million scavengers.  They belong to the low-income economic group. Scavengers generally live in a scavenger village. Scavenger villages generally smell like garbage, have poor sanitation, look untidy, there are small semi-permanent houses, and there are health issues that threaten the residents. Economic conditions and poor living environment can have an impact on the psychological well-being of scavengers. It is important to research more deeply into the psychological well-being of scavengers. The results of the research can be used as material for policy making for the government, and for making assistance programs for social communities who assist scavengers. This research can also be seen as an effort to help scavengers (as marginal groups) to voice themselves. This research is focused on descripting psychological well-being of scavengers who live in Cilandak scavenger village, in Jakarta, Indonesia. The research uses a qualitative approach with a narrative design. The research participants were 3 scavengers (2 male and 1 female). Data was collected by semi-structured interviews. The results showed that the three participants in the domain of autonomy and environmental control had not been able to fulfill it properly, because their work and village were controlled by other people. In the domain of life goals, self-acceptance, personal development, and positive relationships with others, the three participants had different situations.

Abstract

Measurement of mobile phone brand image is important. In the context of Indonesian consumers, it is also important to measure the brand image of cellular phones to encourage product innovation that contains the indigenous values of the Indonesian nation and can support sustainable growth in the industrial era 4.0. For this measurement, it is necessary to measure the brand image of a cellular phone. This study aims to develop a measuring instrument for Cellular Phone Brand Image that can be used by Indonesian consumers. The brand image model by Aaker (1997) and the brand value proposed by Zhang (2011) became the basis for making instrument items. The instrument trial involved 300 participants aged 18-40 years. The analysis of exploratory factor analysis resulted in 27 items grouped into 3 factors, namely functional benefits, brand associations, and personality characteristics. These three factors showed that brand characteristics and personal considerations have the same role in building a cellular phone brand image Keywords: Brand Image Scale,  Cellular Phone

Abstract

Abstract

Emerging adulthood is a transitional period from adolescence to adulthood. During this time, there are many sources of stress due to uncertainty, which can lead to mental health disorders, especially for female individuals. Based on previous literature, mindfulness and self-efficacy against uncertainty can be protective factors for female emerging adults (EA) in facing this period. This study aims to examine the relationship between mindfulness and self-efficacy on uncertainty among emerging adult women. The study utilizes a quantitative approach with a correlational method. Two measurement tools are employed in data collection: the Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) and the Self-Efficacy on Uncertainty Scale. The participants of this study consist of 121 female students aged between 18 and 25 years, distributed in Jakarta. The results of the study indicate a positive and significant relationship between mindfulness and self-efficacy on uncertainty. The higher the level of mindfulness among emerging adult women, the higher their self-efficacy on uncertainty, and vice versa, the lower the level of mindfulness, the lower their self-efficacy on uncertainty. The variation in mindfulness can account for 12.96% of the variance in self-efficacy on uncertainty, and vice versa, the variation in self-efficacy on uncertainty can explain 12.96% of the variance in mindfulness.
