Abstract

The finding of the Qur’anic manuscript in Birmingham in July 2015 has surprised many people, especially Muslims and the researchers of the Qur’an. This paper discusses the reception of the manuscript using a theory of reception in the study of language and literature which allows researcher to read the corrupt text using aesthetic, textual and semiotic approach. This study is a library research and the data were collected from internet, books, etc. using documentation method. The analysis and explanation would be performed simultaneously using descriptive and qualitative method. By doing so, it is concluded that the fragment found in Birmingham has received diverse and even contradictive receptions, i.e. the receptions that strengthen the faith of the authenticity of the Qur’an and the receptions that cast doubts about. Such doubts as whether the Qur’an was God’s word to Gabriel then to Muhammad; whether the manuscript was completed in the time of Uthman or after his era; and whether Muhammad and his Companions have exploited the teachings of religion for political goals and interests. These doubts really opposed against the ideology which has long been believed as true in Islam, and it is even against the Qur’an itself. Keywords Qur’an, manuscript, Birmingham, reception, doubts.

Abstract

Industrial developments have brought many significant changes in various fields of life, especially agriculture and education. It seems that the transformation of the agricultural sector and fishpond farming in Medang Village, Glagah, Lamongan are affected by the catfish folklore that keep the people concerned for generations. This is a phenomenological research and the results are descriptive and qualitative. The data are described and interpreted hermeneutically. The results indicate that the catfish folklore contains a number of educational values that dynamically developed along with the people's beliefs about the folklore as a myth. This transformation of educational values includes: the value of ubudiyyah, the value of the struggle in the life; and the moral value. This transformation occurs through the intervention of many parties, both internal and external ones, such as the local government, the elders, the community leaders  as well as educators. Other factors are technological development and the development of the fishery industry. This research suggests the stakeholders of the village level, districts, and regencies to make the folklore as a medium in learning the educational values. The society, especially the fishpond farmer at Medang village are suggested to preserve the folklore without preventing it to be known. The scholars and the artists can also bring this folklore to life and present it in a more interesting format, both in a pure and classic appearance and in collaboration so that it can be presented as a myth that has a profound meaning.

Abstract

The study on the theological perspective of religious leaders upon the Covid-19 pandemic is essential to prevent the Covid-19 transmission. This study aims to portray the theological perspective related to the destiny (al-qada' and al-qadar) of NU and Muhammadiyah leaders in Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study is a quantitative-descriptive analysis. The data is collected through the validated and distributed semi-open questionnaires using a google form to the 175 respondents living in Java, Sumatera, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan. This study reveals that the theological perspective of Indonesia's religious leaders upon the Covid-19 pandemic follows Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah theology teaching on fate proposed by al-Ghazali, al-Baqilani, al-Juwaini, and other scholars who have similar views. Moreover, this study also affirms that NU and Muhammadiyah as moderate organizations in the aspect of destiny. Most NU and Muhammadiyah religious leaders have theological views stating that the Covid-19 pandemic is God's ordeal and test, while others believe it is God's torment and punishment.

Abstract

Abstract: This paper seeks to analyze the ahkam verses in al-Qur'an Al-Baqarah verse 110, al-taubah verse 60 and al-An'am verse 141. Interpretive analysis is carried out based on several books of ahkam's interpretation, such as Tafsir Munir. Wahbah al-Zuhaili, al-Jami 'li Ahkam al-Qur'an by al-Qurthubi, Al-Tabari, Tafsir Ayat al-Ahkam by al-Jashshash, Teungku Muhammad Hasbi al-Shidiqi, Muhammad Quraish Shihab, Yusuf al-Qardhawi , and many more. By using a content analysis approach to Al-Baqarah verse 110, al-taubah verse 60 and al-An'am verse 141, it is found that: Allah in al-Qur'an found 15 verses coupled with zakat with prayer. Prayer improves the situation of the individual while zakat improves the condition of society, and both are factors of happiness in the world and the hereafter. Allah commands zakat because this obligation can strengthen the relationship between rich people and poor people, so that a close unity is created between them and they become one whole body (society, nation). Keywords: verse ahkam; zakat; analysis of interpretation; al-Baqarah; al-taubah Abstrak: Tulisan ini berusaha mengupas ayat-ayat ahkam dalam al-Qur’an Al-Baqarah ayat 110, al-taubah ayat 60 dan al-An'am ayat 141. Shalat memperbaiki keadaan individu sedangkan zakat memperbaiki keadaan masyarakat, dan keduanya menjadi faktor-faktor kebahagiaan dunia dan akhirat. Abstract

This article is a literature review that aims to describe, explain, and answer in more detail the problems of conventional Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) and compare them with sharia ABSs. From the results of the literature review, it is known that conventional ABS and sharia ABS are not much different in concept. Sharia ABS in its issuance is still based on sharia principles. Furthermore, there are two sharia ABSs, namely Collective Counter Investment (CCI), the second ABS issued by asset financial institutions. The difference between the two lies in the issuer and the assets that form the basis of the Islamic Securities issuer. The result of this paper is that it can increase literacy, especially in asset-backed securities products, and provide direction for further research.
