Abstract

EFFORTS TO PREVENT JOINT PAIN WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ARDUINO UNO-BASED PROGRESSIVE MUSCLE RELAXATION EXERCISES IN MEDAN SUNGGAL VILLAGE. Arduino Uno-based joint pain prevention efforts are a tool to detect muscle strength with an electromyogram that is connected via a smartphone application. The results of the recording on several muscles that experience joint pain such as hands, feet will experience a sensor signal that is read by CMRR (0-500 Hz) around -92 dB, dimensions 41x20x5mm. The purpose of this implementation is to provide stimulation to the Arduino Uno-based device attached to the arm and leg muscles which produces an Electromyogram (EMG) sensor signal recording. The recordings will show the extent to which the muscles can interact with progressive muscle relaxation exercise movements and provide a relaxing effect to the participants. This service activity was attended by 39 elderly people who have a history of joint pain due to comorbidities such as sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid in Medan Sunggal village. Retrieval of data using a smartphone application that is stored automatically during implementation. This service activity produces a muscle detector and therapy device that provides a relaxing effect on breathing when doing progressive muscle relaxation exercises. This is evidenced by the response of the participants with this activity helping to carry out progressive muscle relaxation training activities every day at home.

Abstract

Women who suffer perineal trauma in spontaneous labor experience pain and edema as the most common problems on the first day after delivery. Impaired mobility and a limited ability to carry out daily activities will affect the mother-baby bond. The study of the cold sitz bath intervention and infrared treatment aims to find out how these interventions can overcome the pain of perineal wounds in postpartum mothers. A quasi-experimental design was used to assess both interventions for treating pain in perineal trauma at the Madina Clinic and Sundari Hospital. The sample consisted of 40 mothers, 20 in the cold sitz bath (intervention group) and 20 in the infrared therapy (control group). Pain was measured using a numerical scale from day one to day three of the postpartum period and then the data were analyzed using the paired t-test statistical test. The results of this study revealed that the cold sitz bath hydrotherapy had a significant effect in reducing pain (p = 0.004), as well as infrared therapy (0.008). Although on the third day of the postpartum period, infrared therapy did not significantly reduce the pain level; several other factors could contribute to the significant differences in pain intensity reduction such as comfort, convenience, and the economic value of the intervention.

Abstract

Postpartum mothers with an indication of episiotomy will experience a higher level of pain. This birth canal trauma is acute and is expected to recover in a short period of time, can be measured, and without serious complications. The aim of this study was to identify the healing process of postpartum maternal perineal wounds. The intervention was carried out on 31 postpartum mothers with the selection using purposive sampling technique. Maternity cool gel pad (MCGP) which was applied to the perineal wound care intervention on the 2nd and 3rd day after delivery showed the wound healing process was observed using the REEDA measuring instrument and analyzed using the T one sample test. The repair of the wound repair scale from the mean REEDA score (10.81 ± 2.98) occurred in all wounds of the study respondents at post intervention (5.32 ± 1.73). Maternity cool gel pad intervention assisted the wound healing process in post intervention data (P <0.005). The results of this study can be indicative of an inflammatory response locally in perineal wounds, but further research is needed to observe the impact of perineal wound healing with a combination of methods that can help evaluate the perineal wound repair process that can be done by mothers independently at home.
