Abstract

The development of information and communication technologies has increased the opportunities for teachers to present learning experience which go beyond the classic face-to-face classroom interaction. By using appropriate teachnology, like a smartphone and an appropriate educational application, teachers can interact with their students and deliver text-based or multimedia learning activities. Edmodo is an example of such technology and has been gaining popularity among teachers and students. In English learning environment, Edmodo can be used to offer various learning activities and one of them is picture-based chat. In this chat, students are involved in conversation which is based on a selected picture posted by the students in turns. This strategy is expected to offer not only better retention of the vocabulary but also high level of interaction and participation among students. To provide more information about this strategy, this article is going to explore the advantages of picture-based chat in vocabulary learning and how to design the picture-based chat instruction so that it can promote effective vocabulary learning.

Abstract

Ada beberapa megatren yang mempengaruhi profesi penerjemah. Yang terpenting adalah globalisasi ekonomi, perkembangan teknologi informasi dan digitalisasi. Globalisasi ekonomi menyebabkan sebuah perusahaan berusaha berbisnis di seluruh dunia dan karenanya merasa perlu menerbitkan situs web dalam bahasa di mana perusahaannya akan beroperasi, menerbitkan dokumen produk dalam bahasa pasar sasaran, dll. Untuk itu penerjemahan menjadi salah satu alternatif untuk membantu menembus pasar baru. Perkembangan teknologi informasi telah membuat jenis teks elektronik. Terakhir, dengan adanya digitalisasi membuat dokumen referensi yang dulu tercetak di atas kertas sekarang dengan mudah dibuka dan dirujuk menggunakan komputer. Hal ini juga terkait dengan perangkat lunak atau kemajuan teknologi informasi. Dengan digitalisasi, seorang penerjemah dapat membuka banyak kamus dan ensikopledia dalam beberapa detik saja. Artikel ini juga membahas secara ringkas apa-apa yang perlu dipersiapkan oleh penerjemah dalam rangka menjawab tantangan tiga butir megatren ini. Terakhir, pembahasan ini juga dapat ditarik lebar ke arah kurikulum pengajaran penerjemahan. Singkatnya, kurikulum harus juga memuat butir-butir keterampilan yang diperlukan untuk menjawab tantangan ini.

Abstract

Text-to-speech (TTS) technology gains more popularity nowadays as computer and smart devices are becoming affordable and widely used. The adoption of this technology in language learning is also increasing. With the rise of mobile learning, an attempt to integrate this technology in EPub e-books is proposed. It is expected that the e-books incorporating TTS technology voice output can help teachers to efficiently produce and distribute learning materials, to reduce workload in dealing with individual students’ learning problems, to implement necessary learning guidance, to provide distraction-free mobile language learning materials, and to be more productive with technology to promote a better language learning in the students’ daily activities.

Abstract

Bagi sebagian kalangan belajar bahasa Inggris adalah sesuatu yang tidak mudah sehingga perlu pendamping untuk memperbaiki jika terjadi kesalahan. Belajar bahasa Inggris bisa diawali dengan memahami secara benar strukturnya sehingga dapat membantu dan  memberikan rasa percaya ciri saat mempelajari materi-materi selanjutnya seperti reading, listening maupun writing. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan suatu aplikasi chatbot untuk belajar struktur bahasa Inggris menggunakan media sosial. Pertimbangan utama penggunaan media sosial sebagai sarana pembelajaran yaitu sebagian besar aktifitas masyarakat hingga pelajar di musim pandemic ini menggunakan media sosial atau sarana belajar berbasis online, sehingga dirasa bahwa media sosial bukan sesuatu yang baru bagi khalayak ramai dan menjadi alternatif terbaik yang dapat digunakan sebagai sarana untuk menyampaikan materi struktur bahasa Inggris. Facebook dengan fasilitas chatfuel-nya digunakan untuk mengembangkan chatbot pembelajaran struktur bahasa Inggris dengan memanfaatkan metode Organization Exercise Items (OEI). Dengan menggunakan metode OEI maka chatbot secara otomatis akan memberikan bantuan apabila ada seseorang yang sedang belajar mengalami kesulitan. Aplikasi yang diberi nama ELA-bot atau English Learning Assistant Bot ini telah diimplementasikan pada mahasiswa program studi D3 Bahasa Inggris, Politeknik Negeri Malang. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa 98% mahasiswa menyatakan chatbot telah membantu dalam proses pembelajaran struktur Bahasa inggris.

Abstract

Kemampuan berbicara mahasiswa dalam bahasa asing – dalam hal ini bahasa Jepang – menjadi salah satu tolok ukur keberhasilan mahasiswa tersebut dalam menguasai bahasa Jepang. Penguasaan kosakata menjadi komponen penting untuk menguasai keterampilan berbicara. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi antara penguasaan kosakata dan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Jepang mahasiswa Jurusan Administrasi Niaga Politeknik Negeri Malang. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Program Studi D-III Administrasi Bisnis Jurusan Administrasi Niaga Politeknik Negeri Malang kelas IIA, IIB, dan IIC semester 4. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 83 responden. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen berbetuk tes tertulis dan wawancara. Analisis data menggunakan uji statistik korelasi Pearson (Product Moment Correlation). Uji statistik korelasi Pearson menghasilkan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,612. Nilai ini menunjukkan adanya korelasi yang positif dan signifikan antara penguasaan kosakata dan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Jepang mahasiswa Jurusan Administrasi Niaga Politeknik Negeri Malang. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan responden belum menguasai bentuk lampau kopula dan kata kerja bahasa Jepang.

Abstract

One effort considered quite effective in assisting vocabulary mastery and facilitating understanding of English texts is the provision of a bilingual glossary (English-Indonesian). This glossary becomes more essential especially for non-English Department students because basically English for Specific Purposes has a higher level of difficulty than general English. This study was a design and development research, with a product cluster and research tool. There were four main stages undergone, namely preliminary study, product development, expert validation, and field-testing. The research subjects were students and lecturers in seven departments of both commerce and engineering schools at State Polytechnic of Malang. Instruments of data collection used were questionnaires, interviews, and focused group discussion. The output of the study is an android application of bilingual E-Glossary of English for Specific Purposes. There were seven fields of glossary, each of which consists of vocabulary in English, the translation or description in Indonesian language, along with example sentences in two languages. Pictures are also displayed for easy understanding of the vocabulary. Field testing proves that the E-Glossary application is quite effective in helping users in comprehending English texts better. The application is also considered attractive, easy to use, and easy to understand.

Abstract

PKM ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru PGRI di Kabupaten Jombang provinsi Jawa Timur. Peningkatan kompetensi guru dilakukan melalui penelitian sederhana seperti Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Pelatihan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dilakukan dengan strategi siklus yang dilakukan dengan tahapan dari identifikasi masalah, perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan penelitian ini mencakup observasi, wawancara dan evaluasi. Hasil akhir dalam PKM ini adalah pelatihan memberikan manfaat bagi guru, yaitu dapat meningkatkan pemahaman guru pada Penelitian Tindakan Kelas, menumbuhkan motivasi dalam menyusun PTK dan melaksanakan PTK, serta meningkatkan kinerja sekolah melalui peningkatan profesionalisme guru. Oleh sebab itu, diharapkan bahwa hasil dari penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan masukan guru di sekolah lainnya sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru melalui Penelitian Tindakan Kelas.

Abstract

Typing with the blind 10 finger technique is one of the competencies that must be possessed by vocational students. Achieving this competency is not easy, to further support the efforts of the teachers in facilitating the implementation of their work it would need support from various parties. Malang State Polytechnic as part of the community, which is a higher education institution, with one of its tasks is to improve the quality of human resources through the Community Service pathway obliged to provide guidance assistance to teachers of Malang Muhammadiyah 2 Vocational School about key boarding technique teaching methods using the application.Technological advances allow teaching that is more fun and not boring. One of the technologies that can be applied to keyboarding subject teaching is to use the Typing Master Pro application. It is expected that the varied teaching methods will facilitate the achievement of the competencies needed by students.

Abstract

The purpose of this training is that the teachers at the Mujahidin Foundation can use the internet as a medium for learning. Community Service Activities were carried out on Sunday 3 November 2019 at the Mujahidin Foundation in Malang Regency. This activity is divided into several stages consisting of the preparation phase, the training phase and the preparation of activity reports. The material provided in this training covers the understanding of internet based learning, the scope, advantages and disadvantages of internet based learning as well as practicing the internet based learning process. During the training process the situation is educational, conducive and fun. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of the participants, the question and answer process and the complete participation of the participants from the beginning until the completion of the training event so that the material can be completed as a whole.

Abstract

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PkM) in 2021, was carried out to provide training and guidance to mothers in the area around Pawon Buci Malang on Business Correspondence to help promote and market products from Pawon Buci Malang. The method used by the PkM Implementation Team is to provide an explanation of the meaning of letters, understanding of business correspondence, the importance of correspondence (especially during the Covid 19 Pandemic), requirements for a good letter, function of letters, language of letters, nature of business letters, form of letters, sections -Department of Letters, Sales Methods - Direct Sales, Kinds of Letters (Introduction Letters, Offer Letters, Order Acceptance Letters, Order Confirmation Letters, Order Rejection Letters). This PkM activity received high enthusiasm from the participants. The enthusiasm was evidenced by the completeness of the 5 participants who listened carefully and actively from the beginning to the end of the activity. The PkM Implementation Team concluded that all participants were able to put the results of the training into practice by being able to write the necessary documents to promote and market Pawon Buci products.
