Abstract

Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is one of the vegetation indices used to analyse vegetation density. This study presents the potential use of NDVI to map dry-marginal-agricultural land (Dry-MAL). The study conducted in the eastern part of Situbondo, which includes three districts, namely, Arjasa, Asembagus and Jangkar. Sentinel-2A (recorded in 2018) and 450 Control points (GCPs) are used as the primary input. The region is an area with distinctive climate characteristics, where the dry season is longer than the rainy season. Analysis using "SNAP plug-ins" and "QGIS". Research procedures include (1) data inventory, (2) data pre-processing, (3) data processing and (4) accuracy testing. The NDVI classification can distinguish six (6) classes of land-use, i.e., water bodies, residential areas, dry MAL, non-irrigated rural area, irrigated paddy fields, forest-plantations. The NDVI classification produces Overall and Kappa accuracy values =  66,9% and 61,6%. Although the overall and kappa accuracy is below the standard, however, the result will benefit for further research of index vegetation or soil more applied for the identification of Dry-MAL

Abstract

Abstrak: Salah satu lembaga pendidikan di Jember yakni Yayasan Raudalatul Athfal (RA) Nurut Thalibin yang mengelola beberapa lembaga pendidikan berlokasi di wilayah yang cocok untuk menanam sayur-sayuran, memberikan dasar yang baik bagi siswa terhadap ilmu bercocok tanam. Metode cocok tanam yang dilakukan umumnya masih konvensional, yakni menggunakan tanah sebagai media tanam yang kemudian diikuti dengan penggunaan pupuk dan pestisida sebagai pemercepat pertumbuhan tanaman serta antisipasi terhadap serangan hama. Seiring dengan perkembangan industri, lembaga perlu memberikan tambahan wawasan kepada siswa untuk mulai menggunakan teknologi budidaya tanaman organik yang lebih efisien. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra adalah masih lemahnya jiwa kreativitas siswa, keterbatasan siswa dalam memaksimalkan teknologi budidaya pertanian, lemahnya jiwa kewirausahaan siswa dan keterbatasan strategi pemasaran siswa. Solusi yang diberikan adalah pengembangan jiwa kreativitas siswa melalui pelatihan sistem budidaya hidroponik DFT (Deep Flow Technique) tanaman hortikultura berdasarkan metode experiental learning dan pelatihan strategi pemasaran secara online. Tujuan pelaksanaan pengabdian ini adalah untuk: (1) menstimulasi daya kreativitas siswa, (2) mengembangkan strategi budidaya tanaman hidroponik DFT, dan (3) membina siswa untuk mengembangkan jiwa kewirausahaan. Setelah dilaksanakannya pengabdian ini, siswa menunjukkan antusiasme yang tinggi untuk menguasai cara budidaya hidroponik dan perakitan hidroponik sistem DFT. Selain itu, siswa mampu menerapkan strategi pemasaran yang dilakukan secara langsung maupun menggunakan media pemasaran elektronik.Abstract: Raudalatul Athfal Nurut Thalibin manages Play Group, Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, Madrasah Tsanawiyah, and Vocational Schools in agriculture. Located in area suitable for growing vegetables provides reasonable basis for students in the science of farming. The most common method of planting was conventional, using soil as growing media, followed by fertilizers and pesticides to accelerate plant growth and pest control. As industry develops, institutions need to provide sophisticated method for students to start using organic farming technologies more efficiently. The problems faced by partners are the weak spirit of student creativity, limitations of students in maximizing agricultural cultivation technology, weakness of students' entrepreneurial spirit, limitation of student marketing strategies. Solution provided are development of students' creativity through training of DFT (Deep Flow Technique) hydroponic cultivation systems based on experimental learning methods and online marketing strategy training. The Objectives of this program are to (1) stimulate students' creativity, (2) develop DFT hydroponic cultivation strategies, and (3) foster students to develop their entrepreneurial spirit. After the implementation of this training, students showed high enthusiasm for mastering hydroponic cultivation and hydroponic assembly of the DFT system. In addition, students have been able to apply direct marketing strategies or use electronic marketing media.

Abstract

ABSTRAKLidah buaya atau aloe vera adalah tumbuhan yang mudah dan cepat tumbuh di daerah tropis dengan lahan berpasir dan memiliki sedikit air. Lidah buaya bermanfaat untuk digunakan sebagai bahan baku industri farmasi, kosmetika, bahan baku makanan dan minuman kesehatan, obat-obatan yang tidak mengandung bahan pengawet kimia. Lidah buaya dapat ditanam baik secara langsung di tanah maupun di pot sehingga lahan-lahan pekarangan yang kosong pun dapat dimanfaatkan untuk budidaya lidah buaya.  Permasalahan yang dihadapi masyarakat sasaran adalah kurangnya keterlibatan anak-anak didalam melakukan kegiatan bertanam tanaman budidaya. Selain itu  lemahnya jiwa kreativitas anak-anak karena kurang dilakukan kegiatan yang bersifat aktif dan partisipatif. Program ini dilakukan dengan memperkenalkan cara bertanam lidah buaya didalam pot bagi anak-anak di kecamatan Patrang, Jember. Adapun tujuan pelaksanaan pengabdian ini adalah untuk: (1) mengasah daya kreativitas anak-anak, (2) melatih bertanam tanaman lidah buaya dan (3) membina anak-anak untuk menyukai kegiatan bercocok-tanam. Partisipasi aktif dari peserta menunjukkan semangat dan antusiasme peserta didalam bertanam lidah buaya. Adanya program ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang lebih luas sehingga anak-anak memiliki rasa percaya diri yang lebih tinggi. Kata kunci: anak-anak; berkebun; kreativitas; lidah buaya. ABSTRACTAloe vera is a plant that is easy and fast to grow in tropical areas with sandy soil and little water. Aloe vera is useful as a raw material for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, health food and beverage industries, medicines that do not contain chemical preservatives. Aloe can be planted either directly in the ground or in pots so that the empty yard can be used for aloe vera cultivation. The problem faced by the target community is the lack of involvement of children in carrying out cultivation activities. In addition, the creative spirit of children is weak because they are less active and participative. This program is carried out by introducing how to grow aloe vera in pots for children in Patrang District, Jember. This service aims to: (1) train children's creativity, (2) train to cultivate aloe vera plants, and (3) foster children's farming activities. The active participation of the participants showed the enthusiasm of the participants in planting aloe vera. This program is expected to provide broader knowledge and skills so that children have higher self-confidence. Keywords: aloe vera; creativity; children; gardening.

Abstract

Indonesia's food needs continue to increase along with population growth. Land development for supporting the cassava food estate is one of the priority programs of the central and regional governments. The purpose of this study was aimed at determining the need for power tiller for land management based on land area. This research was carried out at the planned location of the cassava plantation in Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan in 2020. The data on the land area planned was determined from a topographic map, while the tractor needs were obtained from the calculation of field capacity. The area of land suitable for cassava cultivation is 1227.57 ha which is divided into 25 blocks. The basis for the number of tractors as power tiller needed is determined from the time of tillage work so that it requires working capacity variables, including data on land area, work speed, and width of the plow implement. The plow studied in this study used 2, 3, 4, and 5 blades of disc plows. The need for a tractor with a 5-blade disc plow is 2 tractors that work fully and take turns cultivating an area of 1227.57 ha in the span of one cassava cultivation period (7-8 months). If the disc plow used is less than five blades, it will affect the working width of tillage, so the work time will be longer and the need for power tiller will increase. Keywords:   Cassava, Disk Plow, Food Estate, Power Tiller, Tractor

Abstract

Oyster mushroom is one of the horticultural commodities in Indonesia. This community empowerment program through oyster mushroom cultivation is designed as an effort to provide a sense of equality, partnership, and togetherness for the improvement of the community's economy. Islamic and Social Education Foundation "Ar-Rohmah" with its abundant natural and human resource potential, can be a part of the process of social change. Student empowerment at this foundation manages students to do something beneficial for the community, including through training programs and mentoring in oyster mushroom (Pleurotus spp) cultivation. Accompanied by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) Team at the University of Jember, this activity was carried out to the students of the "Ar-Rohmah" Islamic and Social Education Foundation in Suren village, Ledokombo District, Jember through the presentation of theory and field practice on cultivation. mushrooms. This community service activity will form a small industry that is able to provide income for students of the "Ar-Rohmah" Islamic and Social Education Foundation in Suren Village, Ledokombo District, Jember. During the execution of program, students were showing high antusiams toward prospect and cultivation technology of oyster mushroom by giving contributions, suggestions and creative ideas.

Abstract

This paper presents the use of satellite data (i.e., Landsat-5 & Landsat-8) to interpret the change of land cover from 1997 to 2020. The study area covers the administrative boundary of Lumajang Regency. The land-cover map of the year 1997 derived from Landsat-5. The Land-cover map of the year 2020 interpreted from Landsat-8. This study uses two methods of image classifications (i.e., unsupervised and supervised). The procedure includes image enhancement, registration, and classification. Then, classification results evaluated by confusion-matrix (overall and kappa accuracy). The supervised classification produces 7 classes of Land cover (i.e., forest, pavement/urban area), paddy field, plantation, rural area, water body and sand mining area. Unsupervised classification produced four 5 class i.e., forest, built-area, paddy field, rural area, and plantation. Supervised classification done the overall and kappa accuracy = 86% and  82%, while unsupervised classification = 73% and 64% for 1997 imagery. Furthermore, for 2020 image, the Supervised classification reaches the overall and kappa accuracy = 93% and  90%, while unsupervised classification done 81% and 72%. The supervised classification method gives a better result than un-supervised. Comparison of 1997 to 2020, it also shows the increase in pavement or build-area, followed by paddy field, rural area, and sand-mining. The change also appears as the decrease in forest and plantation areas.Keywords:   Landsat-5, Landsat-8, Unsupervised, Supervised, Lumajang

Abstract

ABSTRAKBerkebun merupakan kegiatan yang dapat dilakukan oleh berbagai kalangan, mulai dari pemuda, orang tua bahkan anak-anak. Pengenalan kegiatan berkebun dapat dijadikan salah satu upaya mendidik karakter peduli lingkungan pada anak-anak usia dini. Kaktus dan sukulen tergolong dalam tanaman hias yang umum digunakan untuk melengkapi hiasan baik didalam maupun di luar ruangan. Sifatnya yang mudah untuk dibudidaya serta memilki nilai estetika menjadikan kaktus dan sukulen digemari untuk ditanam masyarakat. Program pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan cara memperkenalkan siswa PAUD Surenesia Jember Jawa Timur untuk menanam tanaman kaktus dan sukulen didalam pot. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk: 1) Memperkenalkan tanaman kaktus dan sukulen kepada anak-anak usia dini, 2) Memperkenalkan media tanam untuk budidaya kaktus dan sukulen dan 3) Memperkenalkan cara menanam kaktus dan sukulen menggunakan pot. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui tiga tahap, yakni sosialisasi, praktek dan evaluasi. Sasaran kegiatan adalah 20 siswa PAUD Surenesia, Jember, Jawa Timur. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi Pre-Test dan Post Test, terjadi peningkatan kemampuan peserta untuk menanam kaktus dan sukulen didalam pot. Adanya kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi stimulus untuk menanamkan karakter peduli dan cinta lingkungan pada anak-anak usia dini. Kata kunci: anak; kaktus; lingkungan; sukulen ABSTRACTGardening is an activity that can be carried out by various groups, ranging from youth, parents and even children. The introduction of gardening activities can be used as an effort to educate the character of caring for the environment in early childhood. Cactus and succulents are classified as ornamental plants that is easy to cultivate and has aesthetic value makes cacti and succulents popular for community planting. This service program is carried out by introducing students to plant cactus and succulent plants in pots. This activity aims to: 1) Introduce cactus and succulent plants to young children, 2) Introduce growing media for cactus and succulent cultivation and 3) Introduce how to plant cacti and succulents using pots. The implementation of this activity was carried out through three stages, namely socialization, practice and evaluation. The target of the activity was 20 students of PAUD Surenesia, East Java. Based on the results of the Pre-Test and Post Test evaluations, there was an increase in the participants' ability to plant cacti and succulents in pots. The existence of this activity is expected to be a stimulus to instill the character of caring and loving the environment in early childhood. Keywords: child; cactus; environment; succulent

Penelitian bekerja sama dengan petani Kecamatan Wuluhan yang bermitra dengan perusahaan penyedia benih PT. East West Seed Indonesia. Abstract

Abstrak. Wilayah Malang Raya merupakan salah satu wilayah dengan pertumbuhan penduduk yang cepat di Jawa Timur. Selain jumlah pertumbuhan penduduk yang besar, wilayah Malang juga memiliki potensi wisata dan termasuk daerah dengan pusat pendidikan di Jawa Timur. Hal tersebut berpengaruh besar terhadap pertumbuhan pembangunan yang terjadi di wilayah Malang Raya. Saat ini informasi mengenai tutupan lahan mulai banyak dibutuhkan, salah satunya adalah untuk mengetahui ketersediaan lahan terbuka yang dapat digunakan dalam sektor pertanian. Informasi mengenai tutupan lahan dapat memanfaatkan teknologi penginderaan jauh. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbandingan tutupan lahan di Wilayah Malang Raya selama periode 2015 dan 2020 menggunakan Citra Satelit Sentinel dan metode Maximum Likelihood Classification (MLC). Analisis yang telah dilakukan menghasilkan peta tematik tutupan lahan Wilayah Malang Raya tahun 2015 dan 2020. Peta tematik yang dihasilkan pada tahun 2015 memiliki kualitas citra yang kurang baik karena terdapat tutupan awan dan kabut. Pada tahun 2020 menghasilkan kualitas citra yang lebih baik. Hasil klasifikasi yang dilakukan menggunakan metode Maximum Likelihood menunjukkan bahwa pada tahun 2015 nilai Overall sebesar 87.81% dan Kappa 85.79%. Pada tahun 2020 menghasilkan nilai Overall sebesar 91.88% dan Kappa sebesar 90.56%. Perbandingan tutupan lahan periode tahun 2015 dan 2020 menunjukkan hasil peningkatan terbesar terjadi pada kelas tutupan tegalan/ladang. Sedangkan penurunan terbesar terjadi pada kelas tutupan kebun. Comparative Analysis of Land Cover in the Malang Regional Area Using Sentinel ImageryAbstract. The Greater Malang region is experiencing the swiftest population growth in East Java. In addition to substantial population expansion, the Malang area possesses tourism potential and serves as an educational hub in East Java. This growth significantly influeces the region's development. Comprehensive information about land coverage is essential, including determining the availability of open land for agricultural use. Remote sensing technology facilitates obtaining land coverage data. This study compares land coverage in the Malang region during 2015 and 2020, utilizing Sentinel Satellite Imagery and the Maximum Likelihood Classification (MLC) method. The analysis produced thematic maps of land coverage for the Greater Malang Region in 2015 and 2020. The 2015 thematic maps suffered from poor image quality due to cloud cover and fog, which improved in 2020. The Maximum Likelihood classification results indicated an overall accuracy of 87.81% and a Kappa value of 85.79% for 2015, improving to 91.88% and 90.56% in 2020, respectively. A comparison of land cover for the 2015 and 2020 periods shows that the most significant increase occurred in wasteland/heterogeneous agricultural field areas, while the most significant decrease ensued in plantation areas.
