Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the most highest incidence rate cancer in all countries. Age and Hypertension is known as risk factor for breast cancer. The purpose of this study is to know the relation between hypertension and age with breast cancer incidence rates in Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek Bandar Lampung. The method of this study is observational analytic study with case control design. The data that used are secondary data that gathered from medical records of patients in Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek Hospital and taken with consecutive sampling method. The data is analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis using Chi-square test and Fisher test. The result is in the case group, hypertension percentage obtained was 12.5% ​​while those whose has not hypertension was 87.5%. In the control group the percentage of hypertension was 8.3% while those whose has not hypertension was 91.7%. In the case group ≥50 years of age percentage obtained was 54.2% while at age <50 years was 45.8%. In the control group ≥50 years of age percentage of 16.7% while at age <50 years at 83.3%. The results showed that age ≥50 years have a p value = 0,007 with OR = 5,909 and hypertension group have a p value = 0.500. The conclusion of this study is, there is no the relationship between hypertension and breast cancer incidence rates Lampung and there is relationship between the age of patients with breast cancer incidence rates in the Hospital of Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek Bandar Lampung.

Abstract

Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) may form free radicals that cause damages to the organs of the body, one of which is the male reproductive organs, i.e. testes. Galangal rhizome is one of the natural ingredients with antioxidant content that can neutralize free radicals. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of ethanol extract of galangal rhizome on testicular histopathology of MSG-induced male mice. The design of this research was experimental research with 5 treatment groups, each group consisted of 5 mice (Mus musculus L.) DDY strain. Group K (-) was not treated; k (+) was provided with 4 mg/ grBB MSG; P1 was provided with 4 mg/ grBB MSG + 14 mg/ 20 grBB ethanol extract of galangal rhizome; P2 was provided with 4 mg/ grBB MSG + 28 mg/ 20 grBB ethanol extract of galangal rhizome; P3 was provided with 4 mg/ grBB MSG + 56 mg/ 20 grBB ethanol extract of galangal rhizome. Assessment used Johnsen score in group K(-) was 48,4, K(+) was 47,4, P1 was 47,4, P2 was 47,4, and P3 was 48. Kruskal-Wallis test result was p=0,085 (p>0,05). The conclusion was that ethanol extract of galangal rhizome did not effect significantly (p>0,05) on the testicular histopathology of monosodium glutamate-induced mice.

Abstract

Granuloma piogenik merupakan lesi jinak vaskuler pada mukosa yang relatif sering terjadi. Iritasi menjadi penyebab tersering kejadian pada ginggiva. Tidak ada data pasti angka kejadian granuloma piogenik pada ginggiva di Indonesia. Granuloma piogenik dapat timbul pada segala umur, namun terbanyak pada usia dewasa muda. Angka kejadian granuloma piogenik lebih banyak terjadi pada wanita akibat perubahan hormonal selama pubertas, kehamilan, dan menopause. Gambaran klinis granuloma piogenik pada gingiva berupa benjolan berwarna merah kebiruan, kenyal, dan tidak nyeri. Secara mikroskopis berupa lesi eksofitik dikelilingi jaringan yang normal dilapisi epitel gepeng berlapis yang rata, atrofi atau ulserasi dengan lesi terdiri dari proliferasi pembuluh darah disertai jaringan granulasi. Etiopatogenesis dari granuloma piogenik masih menjadi perdebatan. Beberapa peneliti memasukkan granuloma piogenik kedalam entitas infeksi yang diakibatkan adanya infeksi oleh Stafilokokus dan botryomycosis. Faktor pertumbuhan yang berperan penting dalamangiogenesis dan perkembangan granuloma piogenik adalah VEGF dan bFGF. Pemeriksaan imunohistokimia pada granuloma piogenik akan memberikan ekspresi faktor VIII pada endotel dan negatif pada area seluler. Granuloma piogenik didiagnosa banding dengan peripheral giant cell granuloma dan Peripheral ossifying fibroma karena secara makroskopis identik. Granuloma piogenik juga memberikan ekspresi pada bFGF, anti-CD34, dan VEGF. Granuloma piogenik memiliki prognosis yang sangat baik dengan terapi eksisi namun memiliki tendensi berulang bila eksisi inkomplit. Simpulan:Granuloma piogenik pada ginggiva merupakan lesi vaskuler jinak yang sering terjadi pada usia muda akibat iritasi dan memiliki prognosis sangat baik dengan terapi eksisi. Abstract

Honey  already used as natural food sources since long time ago.  Honey has been shown contained active chemical compounds that are antioxidants, yet there is still only a few experimental studies about the protective effect of honey against ethanol-induced renal damage. This study aims to prove the protective effect of honey against renal damage and determine the relationship of increasing doses of honey against renal damage in male rat (Rattus norvegicus). Research subjects were used 25 Sprageu dawley strain male rat.  Rat weredivided into 5 groups that was negative control were given only distilled, positif control (only given ethanol 0,01 ml/gBW/day), treatment group I (given honey 0,0018 ml/gBW/day dan ethanol 0,01 ml/gBW/day), treatment group II (given honey 0,0054 ml/gBW/day dan ethanol 0,01 ml/gBW/day), treatment group III (given honey 0,0162 ml/gBW/day dan ethanol 0,01 ml/gBW/day) for 14 days. Based on result of the Kruskal wallis test performed on this data p<0,05, which mean there were protective effect of giving the honey treatment to renal damage male rat.  Mann whitney test result p <0,05, which  means that there were significant differences proximal tubulus on rat almost found between each groups except positif control group with treatment group I and treatment group II with treatment group III. Honey shown to have protective effects against ethanol-induced renal damage of Sprageu dawley strain male rat. Increasing doses of honey can increase the protective effects against the renal damage of Sprageu dawley strain male rat at certain dose, on dose 0,0018 ml/gBW/day and 0,0054 ml/gBW/day

Abstract

Atherosclerosis is a chronic and progressive problem due to the inflammatory response, oxidative stress (OS), lipid deregulation, and epigenetic disorders. Curcumin is the main compound in turmeric and is responsible for turmeric yellow and contains 50% of turmeric. Curcumin has a hypolipidemic effect along with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, it can contribute to reduce the incidence of atherosclerosis. The extraordinary antioxidant content of curcumin reduces lipid peroxidation and oxLDL formation, and consequently, reduces the inflammatory response and the development of atherosclerosis. Another study shows that curcumin can alter gene expression associated with leukocyte adhesion and transendothelial migration in aortic tissue by increasing expression of NF-κB protein inhibitors (IκB) and decreasing NF-κB bonds and transcription activity after stimulation with tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). In addition, it is proven that curcumin can regulate the activation of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), a receptor that recognizes exogenous or endogenous molecular patterns and modulates immune and inflammatory responses. The role of other curcumin for atherosclerosis is smooth muscle cell proliferation. Curcumin is an antioxidant that can be one of the management of coronary heart disease due to be able to suppress the formation of atherosclerosis and reduce cholesterol levels in the blood. It is expected that curcumin can be the first treatment for coronary heart disease.

Abstract

Introduction: Breast cancer cases are increase and fast becoming the leading cause of oncologic mortality among women worldwide. Delay in management will worsen the prognosis of breast cancer patients. The poor prognosis is correlate with high grade of breast cancer malignancy. Histology can be used as an indicator to assess the grade of breast cancer malignancy. In addition, a high predictive value of lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR) has been suggested to indicate favorable prognosis of various cancer, and used as parameters for assessing breast cancer prognosis. Method: This study is a quantitative research, using an observational approach. Laboratory examination results are collected from 43 breast cancer patients who will conduct treatment at Urip Sumoharjo Hospital from June to September 2019. Data are processed by the Spearman rank test using SPSS 22.0. Results: Correlation test results between lymphocyte-monocyte ratio with histological grading of breast cancer obtained a P value of 0.376. Conclusions: Lymphocytes to monocytes ratio (LMR) value cannot be utilize as a parameter for evaluating prognosis of breast cancer.

Abstract

Abstract: Pancreatic cancer is difficult to diagnose at an early stage and generally has a poor prognosis. Surgical resection is the only potentially curing treatment for pancreatic carcinoma. To improve the prognosis of this disease, it is important to detect tumors at an early stage. The lack of sensitive and specific tumor markers for early diagnosis has a major contribution to the poor prognosis. For this reason, it is necessary to make an early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer through a biomarker in the form of mesothelin which can be found in the blood and urine. Mesothelin is a glycoprotein that is expressed in normal mesothelial cells but is overexpressed in pancreatic cancer. How to check mesothelin levels in the blood can use ELISA and for those in the urine can use spectrophotometry. And mesothelin has been shown to increase in early stage cancer and 64% in metastatic cancer. Mesothelin can also be expressed in other organs such as endometrioid adenocarcinoma (59-64%), cervix (25%), pancreas (86-100%), colorectal (28-50%), esophagus (25-46%) and gastric carcinoma (27-58%) but in pancreatic cancer the amount of mesothelin produced is greater. Abstract

Dewasa ini, produk pangan yang beredar di pasaran banyak yang menggunakan bahan tambahan pangan (BTP). Namun, penggunaan BTP sering terjadi penyalahgunaan seperti methanyl yellow. Methanyl yellow dapat merusak jaringan tubuh seperti ginjal, otak, dan hepar. Untuk menghadapi kerusakan yang ditimbulkan oleh methanyl yellow, diperlukan suatu senyawa antioksidan seperti buah bakau hitam (Rhizophora mucronata). Dari uraian di atas, peneliti ingin mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak buah bakau hitam (Rhizophora mucronata) terhadap gambaran histopatologi hepar tikus putih yang diinduksi methanyl yellow. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimental dengan 20 ekor tikus putih jantan (Rattus norvegicus) dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok dengan masing-masing kelompok berjumlah 4 ekor tikus. Kelompok penelitian antara lain: K1: hanya akuades; K2: methanyl yellow 3000 mg/kgBB; P1: ekstrak buah bakau hitam 3,75 mg/kgBB + methanyl yellow 3000 mg/kgBB; P2: ekstrak buah bakau hitam 7,5 mg/kgBB + methanyl yellow 3000 mg/kgBB; P3: ekstrak buah bakau hitam 15 mg/kgBB + methanyl yellow 3000 mg/kgBB. Uji analisis yang digunakan adalah methanyl yellow dengan Post-hoc LSD. Hasil yang didapatkan berupa terdapat pengaruh pemberian ekstrak buah bakau hitam (Rhizophora mucronata) terhadap gambaran histopatologi hepar tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) yang diinduksi methanyl yellow berupa penurunan rerata kerusakan sel hepar dibandingkan kelompok kontrol positif dengan dosis 3,75-15 mg/kgBB selama 30 hariKata Kunci: ekstrak buah bakau hitam, histopatologi hepar, methanyl yellow
