Abstract

Background:  End-stage renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis experience various comorbid conditions, social, psychological, financial stress, medication, symptoms that these patients often experience are closely related and can lead to fatigue problems and affect the assessment of the quality of life. Objective: To identify the effect of giving PEOL physical training during hemodialysis on fatigue in final stadium renal failure patientMethods: This article used a quasy experimental with pre and post-test and use a control group design approach. The sample in this study was 32 respondents divided into 16 interventions group and 16 control groups. The sampling technique is simple random sampling by using a lottery. Data collection was obtained by using a questionnaire Chalder Fatigue Scale. Data analysis is used paired t-test and Independent t-test with a confidence level of 95% (α=0,05)Results:  The results of data analysis using the paired t-test showed the results of p-0,002 and the independent t-test showed the results of p = 0,000Conclusion:  PEOL physical training during hemodialysis can reduce fatigue in final stadium renal failure patients

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a disease characterized by an increase in blood glucose levels which has a risk of long-term or short-term complications. The inability of the community to carry out treatment independently is one of the causes that affect the ability of Diabetes Mellitus sufferers to carry out activities. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of client-centered guidance on independence in Diabetes Mellitus patients. Methods:This study used a quasy-experimental design with a pre-post test control group design approach, The sample in this study was 46 respondents divided into 23 interventions group and 23 control groups. The sampling technique is consecutive sampling. The intervention was given by providing client-centered guidance on day 1 with 4 stages, time duration ± 60 minutes, and evaluation for 7 days. Analysis of data using an independent t-test with a significance level of = 0.05.Results: The results of the t-test independent t-test with the value of P = 0.001, it means is an effect of client-centered guidance on the independence of Diabetes Mellitus patients. Conclusion: Providing client-centered guidance can increase independence and it can as part of nursing care interventions in the form of a support education system.

Abstract

Introduction: The aging process in human lifenormally causes a decrease of brain function and especially a change in memory capacity. Memory decline happens only in certain aspects of memory, such as the ability to receive information (acquisition) and rediscover the new information. One of the influencing factors is the fulfiment of sleeping at the night. Objective: This research aims at determining the relationship between the fulfilment of sleeping and memory loss in the elderly people. Methods: The research method is correlation analytic design using crossectional approach, and its population are 46 respondents. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The data is collected from respondents using questionnaires and interviews, then the results is analyzed Spearman test with degrees of significance (α <0.05) uses SPSS 16.0. Result: The results show that the respondents whom have a high fulfilment of sleep are 22 respondents (67%) and 18 respondents (55%) have cognitive impairment, the value of ρ = 0.000 (α <0.05) and the value of r = 0.763, this indicates that there is a relationship between the fulfilment of sleeping need and memory decline on the elderly people. Conclusions: The study concludes that the fulfillment of sleeping needs has a significant relationship with memory decline in the elderly. Therefore, there are some treatments which can be done such as involving the elderly to read, write, and discuss in groups, take a walk in the morning for 15 minutes and to encourage them to get enough sleep the night ± 5-6 hours a day.

Abstract

Introduction: Instability of blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia) is a condition of increased blood glucose levels that can take place acutely and chronically caused by heredity, obesity, overeating, lack of exercise, and lifestyle changes. One of the diseases that can cause unstable blood glucose levels is Diabetes Mellitus. In the case of Diabetes Mellitus, it is caused by an increase in blood glucose levels which is characterized by the absence of insulin in the body accompanied by the classic symptoms of Diabetes Mellitus, namely polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia. The Aim of this study is to describe the physical activity of leisure walking to reduce blood glucose levels in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. This research method uses a descriptive case study method by analyzing in depth a research object whose unit of analysis is individual from assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Two respondents with a medical diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Results: The results showed that on the third day of R1, patients said they were tired or lethargic (decreased), patients said they had increased thirst (decreased), high blood glucose levels (improved), GDA: 90 mg/dL the problem was resolved. Whereas in patient R2 the patient said he was tired or lethargic (decreased) and had high blood glucose levels (improved), GDA: 165 mg/dL and the problem was resolved. Conclusion: After being given nursing care with leisurely walking physical activity to 2 patients, it can be concluded that this therapy can reduce blood glucose levels in Diabetes Mellitus patients.
