Abstract

ABSTRAK Rumput laut merupakan salah satu komoditi laut yang memiliki nilai ekspor karena biota laut ini menghasilkan senyawa hidrokoloid bernilai ekonomi tinggi dan digunakan sebagai bahan baku industri pangan dan farmasi. Namun demikian, mutu rumput laut Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) belum dapat mencapai standar ekspor karena kadar karaginan dan kekerasan gelnya rendah serta memiliki kadar kotoran lebih dari 2%. Artikel ini melaporkan pendampingan budidaya rumput laut yang dirangkai dengan budidaya tanaman pertanian dalam rangka meningkatkan mutu produksi rumput laut dan peningkatan pendapatan pembudidaya rumput laut. Kegiatan pendampingan dilakukan dengan cara secara bersama melakukan budidaya rumput laut jenis Eucheuma cottonii dan Eucheuma striatum (sakul) dan budidaya tanaman jagung dan cabai yang dimulai sejak bulan Maret sampai bulan September 2020. Selama proses pendampingan budidaya rumput laut, dilakukan pengambilan sampel rumput laut seminggu sekali selama 6 minggu untuk mengukur pertumbuhan dan kadar karaginan. Selama masa tunggu panen rumput laut (45 hari) pembudidaya rumput laut diajarkan berbudidaya tanaman pertanian sebagai penghasilan tambahan sehingga pembudidaya tidak melakukan panen rumput laut sebelum 45 hari. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat ini dapat menyadarkan pembudidaya rumput laut untuk memanen rumput laut pada umur paling cepat 45 hari. Panen rumput laut pada umur tersebut dapat ditunjukkan rendemen berat kering dan karaginan dapat mencapai 22,63% (E. cottonii), dan 38,63% (E. striatum) dan 32,26%. Dengan meningkatnya mutu rumput laut tersebut maka harga jual juga mengalami peningkatan dari harga Rp13.000 – Rp14.000 menjadi Rp20.000 – Rp22.000 per kilogram kering. Akhirnya, peningkatan harga jual per kilogram kering tersebut tentunya dapat meningkatkan pendapatan pembudidaya rumput laut di Teluk Ekas. ABSTRACT Seaweed is one of the sea goods with export value as this marine biota produces hydrocolloid compounds with high economic value and used as a raw material for the food and pharmaceutical industries. However, the quality of the algae from West Nusa Tenggara could not meet the export standards, as the carrageenan content and gel hardness are low and contain more than 2% impurities. This article reports on helping seaweed cultivation in conjunction with growing agricultural crops to improve the quality of seaweed production and increase the income of seaweed farmers. The auxiliary activities are carried out by jointly cultivating Eucheuma cottonii and Eucheuma striatum (Sakul) from March to September 2020 and growing corn and chillies. Sampling also conducted every week to measure growth and carrageenan of seaweed. During the waiting period for the algae harvest (45 days), the algae growers are taught to grow agricultural crops as additional income so that the farmers do not harvest the seaweed before 45 days. The results of this community service can alert seaweed growers to harvesting seaweed at the earliest age of 45 days. The algae harvest at this age can show the dry weight yield and carrageenan can reach 22,63% (E. cottonii) and 38,63% (E. striatum) and 32,26%. With the increase in the quality of the algae, the sales price rose from IDR13,000 - IDR14,000 to IDR20,000 - IDR22,000 of dry seaweed per kilogram. After all, increasing the selling price per seaweed dry kilogram will surely increase the incomes of seaweed farmer in Ekas Bay. Abstract

As a result of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which was followed by the imposition of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in Indonesia, it has encouraged people to adopt healthier lifestyles and at the same time carry out a number of environmentally friendly activities. Therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to improve understanding and practice of cultivation as well as guarantee the quality of the food produced, among others by carrying out socialization "how to register horticultural products in urban areas to obtain a Prima3 certificate" as a guarantee that it is safe for consumption. The method used in this activity is the Action Research Method by applying the Participatory Action Program approach from the participants through discussions, and group work in all activities. The results of the activity show that one of the efforts to improve food safety for business actors of Fresh Plant-Origin Food (PSAT) is by registering for food safety certification. Based on survey results from 6 survey locations, 5 of them are still active, namely Japri Farm, UD Rohana and KWT Bunga Matahari, UD Sari Melanting, and UD Sumber Sari. While 1 other location is not active, namely KP. Petemon Asri. There are several business actors in the City of Mataram who have not extended the registration of the commodities they produce. These actors include the Bijak Sari Poktan, the Farmer Family Farmers Group, Japri and Mataram Hydroponics. The results of the demonstration plot showed that the use of liquid organic fertilizer was able to grow lettuce plants well. The best use of vegetable pesticides is demonstrated by plant-based pesticides extracted from papaya leaves. Botanical pesticides are pesticides whose active ingredients come from plants or herbs and other organic materials that can control pest attacks on lettuce plants, both as repellents, antifedans, attractants.

Abstract

One of the technological innovations that is very relevant for the implementation of IPM is habitat manipulation using refugia plants to conserve predatory insect. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of different species of Refugia plants on the diversity and species richness of predator on potato plants and their production yields. The research method used was a field experimental method with a randomized block design with 5 treatments of Refugia plant species repeated 3 times. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and are further tested by Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) analysis at a significance level of 5 percent. The results showed that nine predatory species were found in refugia and potato plants, namely Crytoleamus montrouzieri, Cocinella transversalis, Coleophora inaequalis, Monocielus sexmaculatus, Axion plagiatum, Coleophora reniplagiata, Illeis koebelei, Mantidae and Formicidae. The insect diversity index (H') of the predators found was rated as moderate for all treatments, ranging from 1.2 to 1.9.

Abstract

The demand for pakcoy continues to increase as more people must be aware of their nutritional needs. One important factor in pakcoy cultivation is the use of planting media. The main objective was to find out the best media combination and frequency to apply fertilizers for efficiency in intensive growing. The research was conducted in Cikabayan, IPB Bogor using RAL Factorial with six treatment combination and three replications. The first factor was media combination (rice husk, cocopeat, and compost), while the second factor was fertilization frequency (every week and every two weeks). Parameters observation consists of vegetative growth (plant height, number of leaves wide and length of leaves, and width of the stump) and plant production (wet weight and weight suitable for consumption). Research results indicated that planting media combination of rice husk and compost (1:1) gave a better result than other treatments in increasing leaf length (11.36 cm) and wet weight (47.12 grams). The frequency of application of foliar fertilizer had no different effect on pakcoy growth and yield and no interaction significantly between media combination and fertilization frequency.

Abstract

Tanaman mangga merupakan salah satu tanaman hortikultura yang memiliki beragam manfaat sehingga banyak dibudidayakan masyarakat. Hama wereng diketahui merupakan hama penting pada tanaman mangga yang mempengaruhi kualitas dan produksi buah mangga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hama wereng yang berasosiasi pada tanaman mangga. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah metode penelitian deskriptif dan pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik survey lapangan pada dua lokasi kebun mangga di Kabupaten Lombok Utara. Kegiatan identifikasi dilakukan di Laboratorium Produksi dan Pascapanen Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Mataram. Ditemukan empat spesies wereng yang berasosiasi dengan tanaman mangga ialah 1). Idioscopus nitidulus; 2) Idioscopus clypealis; 3). Sanurus flavovenosus; dan 4). Sanurus indecora.

Abstract

Stingless bees are highly diverse insects in Indonesia and play a role in providing ecosystem services by helping to pollinate crops and produce honey. However, pests present as an obstacle that can disrupt and reduce the number of individual bees and can even cause bees to escape from their nests. The aims of this research are to identify the species of stingless bees bred by beekeepers and to identify pests that affect stingless bees in colony boxes. The research was conducted in Bengkaung and Buwun Sejati villages from July to September 2023. The method used in this study was direct observation and survey of stingless beekeepers. Stingless bee and pest samples from boxes containing various species of stingless bees were taken to the Plant Protection Laboratory at University of Mataram for identification. Results show that four species of stingless bees are cultivated, namely Tetragonula fuscobalteata, Tetragonula biori, Tetragonula clypearis and Tetragonula sapiens. The pest species found were lizards (Gekkonidae), ants (Formicidae), spiders (Archidae), wasps (Vespidae), mites (Varroidae), beetles (Histeridae) and Assasin Bug (Reduviidae).

Abstract

Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is an agricultural commodity with a high economic value. Increasing cayenne pepper production in dry lands is hampered by limited water availability. Therefore, water use efficiency is required, one of which is the implementation of drip irrigation. This study aimed to test the performance of a drip irrigation system in the cayenne pepper farmland of Slengen Village, which is located in the lowlands with a dry climate (D4). Emitter discharge, emitter flow rate, and crop water requirements were used to determine the length of time the drip irrigation system was operational at each growth phase. The results show that the emitter discharge uniformity coefficient was 86.6% with a droplet distribution efficiency of 89.80%, which is included in the good category. This indicates that the drip irrigation system is suitable for irrigating plants evenly within the required water volume.

Abstract

Sebagian besar masyarakat di desa Sukadana, Kecamatan Pujut, Kabupaten Lombok Tengah adalah petani dan peternak dengan ternaknya dipelihara pada kandang di halaman rumah atau kandang kolektif. Terdapat banyak sekali limbah padat dan cair ternak sapi yang sebagian  besar belum dimanfaatkan, padahal limbah tersebut potensial untuk diolah menjadi pupuk organik, sebagai substitusi pupuk kimia yang seringkali kurang tersedia dan harganya terus meningkat. Tujuam dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan kapasitas masyarakat dalam mengolah pupuk organik dari limbah padat kotoran sapi dan memanfaatkannya pada budidaya hortikultura. Kegiatan diawali dengan survei lokasi dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik dari bahan dasar limbah kotoran sapi, demonstrasi penggunaanya pada budidaya tanaman hortikultura di lahan dan pekarangan dan penyuluhan integrated farming system dengan pemeliharaan sapi dan budidaya tanaman. Peserta pelatihan memiliki antusiasme yang tinggi untuk memperoleh pengetahuan tentang teknologi pengolahan kotoran sapi menjadi pupuk organik yang ramah lingkungan, terlibat secara aktif dalam demonstrasi dan penyuluhan yang dilakukan.  Peserta termotivasi  untuk mengolah limbah kotoran sapi dari halaman rumah untuk dimanfaatkan pada budidaya pertanian.

Abstract

Sampah telah menjadi masalah bagi lingkungan karena volumenya yang terus bertambah. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan edukasi kepada masyarakat tentang bahaya sampah dan upaya mendaur ulang sampah menjadi produk yang bermanfaat. Pada bulan April tahun 2023 telah dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di Pondok Pesantren Tuhfatul An-Fananiah NW, Desa Beber, Kecamatan Batukliang, Lombok Tengah. Kegiatan yang menyasar santri di pondok tersebut bertemakan pembuatan pupuk kompos dari sampah dapur dan kotoran ternak. Kegiatan ini dipilih karena di lingkungan pondok pesantren, sampah organik daun, sisa dan buah sayuran buah serta kotoran ternak menumpuk dan hanya direduksi dengan cara dibuang ke sungai atau dibakar. Kegiatan pembuatan kompos ini berlangsung dengan lancar terlihat dari keberhasilan santri dalam menghasilkan pupuk kompos dari sampah organik dan ternak di sekitaran pondok pesantren.

Abstract

Sampai saat ini, pertanian merupakan sektor utama yang menyerap SDM dengan jumlah yang cukup tinggi. Namun, jumlah angka tersebut masih di dominasi oleh usia yang lebih dari 55 tahun. Salah satu penyebab terjadinya fenomena ini adalah citra sektor pertanian yang kurang bergengsi, rendahnya daya beli dan tingkat kesejahteraan yang belum menjanjikan. Alasan lain adalah cara pandang anak muda terhadap sektor pertanian yang dipengaruhi oleh nilai-nilai yang berlaku pada keluarga dan masyarakat pertanian itu sendiri, diantaranya sudut pandang bahwa pertanian dekat dengan dunia laki-laki, kemiskinan dan rendahnya tingkat pendidikan. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukannya gerakan literasi pertanian berupa penyuluhan berbasis pemberdayaan dalam meningkatkan minat generasi milenial terhadap pertanian. Kegiatan ini dilakukan di Pondok Pesantren Tuhfathul An-Fananiah NW Lombok Tengah pada April-Juni 2023. Metode yang dilakukan pada kegiatan ini adalah metode Tindak Partisipatif (Participatory Action Program) yang terdiri dari kegiatan penyuluhan melalui diskusi (ceramah) dan penanaman secara langsung di pekarangan pondok pesantren. Strategi penyuluhan yang dilakukan adalah komunikasi dua arah agar para santri dapat tertarik dan memahami peluang dan masalah yang ditemui di bidang pertanian. Para santri aktif terlibat baik dalam kegiatan penyuluhan maupun dalam proses penanaman. Dengan adanya kegiatan penanaman tersebut, para santri mendapatkan pengalaman secara langsung dalam memelihara dan memanen tanaman. Namun demikian, masih perlu dilakukan pendampingan dalam mengelola tanaman sayuran di halaman pondok agar dapat terus meningkatkan pengetahuan dan wawasan santri mengenai pertanian, khususnya budidaya sayuran sehingga muncul minat santri untuk bergerak di bidang pertanian.
