Abstract

Character education aims to direct students who have good morals. The human existence character mostly comes from the environment, such as innate, culture, and education received. Because the human character is always changed, the path is taken through the educational process, namely upbringing, and training. On the way, the student characters can experience a decrease and even deviations in space. This condition can be influenced by the environment around them. This study aims to find out how the concept of character education according to the Islamic figure, namely Ibnu Miskawaih through his book entitled "Tahdzibul Akhlak", and its relevance to education in Indonesia.This qualitative descriptive research uses content analysis technic of various documents as primary and secondary sources. In conclution, Ibn Miskawaih belongs to the Dualist-Active perspective argues that human character is built by his environment and the purpose of character education is to achieve virtue and happiness. The relevances of this topic with Indonesia education are in the subject of character and community service programs.

Abstract

Humanistic learning is an approach that accommodates the student’s human right. Understanding of humanistic concepts gives freedom for students to get independent learning experiences based on their potential. This article purpose is to find out how the concept of humanistic learning from Abraham Maslow and Carl Rogers, and the relevance in Islamic education. The method used in this study is qualitative research using a library research approach. This article explains that Maslow in his humanistic perspective proposes five hierarchies of human needs that are passed in stages. Then Carl Rogers’s concept of humanistic learning is using experiential learning theory and understanding of self. The humanistic concept in Islamic education is the existence of harmony between theocentric humanistic attitudes (monotheism). Pembelajaran humanistik merupakan suatu pendekatan yang mengakomodasi hak asasi kemanusiaan para peserta didik. Pemahaman atas konsep humanistik memberikan kebebasan kepada peserta didik untuk memperoleh pengalaman belajarnya secara mandiri berdasarkan potensi yang dimikinya. Adapun tujuan dari penulisan artikel ini ialah untuk mengetahui bagaimana konsep pembelajaran humanistik dari Abraham Maslow dan Carl Rogers, kemudian bagaimana relevansinya dalam pendidikan Islam. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah penelitian kualitatif menggunakan pendekatan library research. Hasil dari penelitian ini ialah Maslow dalam teori humanistiknya mengemukakan dengan lima hierarki kebutuhan manusia yang dilalui secara bertahap. Kemudian Carl Rogers memahami konsep pembelajaran humanistik menggunakan teori experiental learning dan pemahaman atas self. Adapun konsep humanistik dari pendidikan Islam ialah adanya keharmonisan antara sikap humanistik yang teosentris (ketauhidan).
