Abstract

Patients with HIV_AIDS have an increased risk to develop neurological disorders include a complicationof intracerebral mass. Primary CNS tumors in this condition are rare and difficult to diagnose because it hasuncommon presentation, unusual tumor growth and manifests at a young age in a patient with HIV-AIDS.Advanced imaging techniques with contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance scans should be used to guidediagnosis in this condition. in a patient with HIV-AIDS, biopsy should be carried out if standard imagingshowed atypical features or in a patient who has a poor response to empirical treatment for neurotoxoplasmosis.In this case, we reported a case of A 26 years old male with HIV-AIDS with neurological deficits who laterdiagnosed with glioblastoma.

Abstract

The use of metaphors in daily life can be found in the mass media, such as magazine. Mediakom is a magazine which published by Indonesian Ministry of Health, focuses on the health of Indonesian people. The use of conceptual metaphors of disease has found in Mediakom magazine, and it is the focus on this research. The research data is collected from Mediakom issue of the June 107, 2019 concerning ‘Preventable Cancer’. The research method is using qualitative descriptive with cognitive semantics approach. Lakoff and Johnson’s theory of conceptual metaphors has used as references to analyze data. The result shows, there are three types of conceptual metaphors found within Mediakom issue of the June 107, 2019 ‘Preventable Cancer’ 1) structural metaphors with concepts of enemy, war, and struggle, as well as with an image schema of the force, 2) orientational metaphors with concepts of anger, achievement, growth, experience, and effort, as well as with image schemas of the space and scale, and 3) ontological metaphors with concepts of explosion, expansion, disappointed, and journey, as well as with image schemas of the existence and identity.

Abstract

Error pronunciation is one of the language learning processes. It may happen to all of the language learners, especially in learning a foreign language which the goal is to have more than one language in language skill. This research aims to describe the types of error pronunciation of English vowels which is spoken by ‘Speaking Class’ students in the Language Center of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati. The method used in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. This research uses the combination of vowel theories from Roach, McMahon, and Kelly, as well as the error analysis theory from Brown and Crystal. Based on the result, there are three types of error pronunciation of English, namely vowel addition of [e], [ɪ], [a], [ɜː], [ə]; vowel substitution of [ə], [æ], [uː], [ɔː], [ɪ], [iː], [e], [ʌ], [ɑː], [ɒ], [ɜː], [aɪ], [aʊ], [ɪə], [eɪ], [əʊ], [ɔɪ], [eə], [aʊə]; and vowel omission of [ɪ], [ə], [a], [e].
