Abstract

The purpose of this study is to measure the extent to which teachers and education personnel have the motivation of public services and to determine the factors that become obstacles and drivers for teachers and education personnel to implement values in the motivation of public services. The sample of respondents was determined as many as 22 people who were distributed into 6 schools. Data collection methods were carried out by direct observation in schools, interviews with respondents and through field surveys with questionnaires. Data processing using SPSS software and statistical analysis is done by testing the research hypothesis to examine the relationship between variables and solve research problems. The results of the study are based on hypothesis testing, namely that there is an effect of mentality on service motivation while performance has no effect on service motivation. Simultaneously mentality and performance affect the motivation of public services by 62.0%. The factor that is driving the implementation of values in the motivation of public services is the level of teacher education, personality, dedication, ability and discipline, while the inhibiting factor comes from internal factors that come from within the teacher itself.

Abstract

Marine education is essential in helping children to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to preserve the environment, particularly for future coastal ecosystems. Effective marine education requires teachers to use proper strategies that will help children to value and care for the marine world. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of electronic comics to introduce marine conservation in elementary school. This study employed a quasi-experimental design model with paired t-test statistical analysis. The participants in this study involved three classes of elementary schools in Banten Province, Indonesia. There were 113 children and were divided into two experimental classes using electronic comics (laptops, computers, tablets, and mobile phones) and one control class using printed books. The results of this study showed a significant result in marine conservation knowledge of elementary school students in the experimental classes. In the control class, there was only a slight increase in the knowledge of marine conservation. The data analysis results revealed that children aged 6-8 years are more interested in learning using electronic comics compared to printed books. The findings also showed that elementary school students (aged 6-8 years) could recognize and comprehend marine conservation in science learning through electronic comics. The introduction to marine conservation could then be done using the latest technology that attracts children’s learning interest.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to analyze the impact of cooperative learning with the PAP and STAD methods and independence on young children's prosocial behavior. The research used an experimental method. The sample consisted of 48 children. Data were analyzed with the 2-factor ANOVA variants, followed by an interaction test between variables using the Tuckey test. The results show that there were differences in the prosocial behaviors between the group of children with high and low independence. Different method of cooperative learning used influenced young children’s prosocial behavior diffierently. There was also an interaction between cooperative learning and independence towards young children’s prosocial behavior. The implication of this research is that teachers as educators and counselors are required to carry out systematic and ongoing prosocial education as a form of example for children. Teachers wishing to teach with cooperative learning should choose a method appropriate to children’s characteristics. In addition, it is important to increase teachers’ motivation in teaching.

Abstract

Knowledge about clean and healthy life in children needs to be given early to shape behavior in everyday life. Knowledge about healthy living can be provided at school through various learning programs. This study aims to find the effectiveness of health promotion programs (JUMSIH) to increase children's knowledge about clean and healthy living. The research method is a pre-experimental one-shot case study design. The respondents of this study were 68 students aged 7-8 years. The results showed that the JUMSIH program can help children have knowledge about healthy living. Based on data analysis, n = 15 generally obtained scores above 2.6. It was concluded that healthy living skills are often performed by students such as hand washing, bathing, and toothbrush behavior which are basic skills for children to be able to live healthy lives. Suggestions for further research which is the development of various programs to increase awareness of clean and healthy living from an early age.
