Abstract

AbstractThe thesis entitled the influence of the Realistic Mathematics Education approach on student achievement in Pontianak MTs N 2 aimed to examine the influence of the Realistic Mathematics Education approach on student achievement at Pontianak MTs N 2. The method used in this study was a pre-experimental design  with the research design used was one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were students of class VII at MTs N 2 Pontianak. The sample of this study was the students of class VII K who were selected using the purposive sampling technique.The data collection technique used is a achievement test. The pretest and posttest data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon-test after fulfilling the normality test. Analysis of student achievement obtained by Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) from the Wilcoxon test is 0,000 < 0,05. Thus it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant effect of the Realistic Mathematic Education approach on student achievement. Keywords:    Realistic Mathematic Education (RME), Student Achievement, Numbers

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the  effectiveness of the application of the peer tutoring method for learning composition function material in SMAN  1 Sungai Ambawang. The research method used is descriptive method. The research subject was 24 students from class X MIPA 4 SMAN  1 Sungai Ambawang. The aspect used to determine the effectiveness of learning using the peer tutoring method was teacher?s ability in implementing learning, student learning activities and completeness of student learning outcomes. Data collection was obtained by direct observation and learning outcome test. From the results of the study it showed that the teacher?s ability (researcher) in implementing learning with the peer tutoring method was categorized good with an average of 3,45, student?s learning activities categorized active with a percentage of 75,23% and student?s outcome is not reached classical completeness with only 66,67% of student can achieve the minimum completeness criteria. The conclusion of this research is the applicaton of the peer tutoring method for learning composition function material in  class X MIPA 4 SMAN  1 Sungai Ambawang is not effective. Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to know the effect of the application of the Wankat-Oreovocz strategy to the ability of problem solving and activity of students in the form of algebra at the Christian Junior High School of Immanuel 2 Sungai Raya. This experimental method is experimental with a one-shot study and to collect data in this study used the problem solving test, along with the observation sheet of learning implementation and students learning activity. The participants in this study was 43 students of the VII B. The result showed that: 1) The Wankat-Oreovocz learning strategy didn't positively effect the students problem solving skill with the value of sig. 0.147; 2) The average of the application of the Wankat-Oreovocz strategy is well categorized with score of 3.20; 3) Students learning activity during the implementation of this strategy was in the category of very active with the percentage of 88.87%.Keywords: Wankat-Oreovocz Strategy, Problem SolvingPENDAHULUANMatematika merupakan suatu mata pelajaran yang

Abstract

AbstractThis research generally aims to clarify and solve learning obstacle in the problem solving of System of Linear Equations In Three Variables in the tenth grade of MA Al-Mustaqim Kubu Raya. To minimize the learning obstacles, the didactic design was arranged. The form of this research was didactic design research with a qualitative approach. This study was conducted by giving the pre-test questions of problem solving to 27 students, then selecting four students to be the research subjects randomly. After analyzing the results of the pre-test, students experienced learning obstacles in understanding the problem, arranged a solution plan, implementing a settlement plan, and recheck the results obtained. After that, the researcher arranged the didactic design in the form of learning scenarios and the student worksheets. The didactic design that has been prepared is tested on research subjects. After that, the researcher gave the post-test questions. Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this research is to describe the form of mathematical fallacy and its causing factors. The research method used is descriptive method in the form of case study research. The subjects of this research are eight senior high students, four students from SMAN 1, two students from SMA Santo Paulus and two students from SMAN 3, who participated in National Science Olympiad 2019 in Pontianak. Mathematical fallacy in this research consists of three forms. They are division by zero, mistaken of taking squares and exponent fallacy. Mathematical fallacy in the form of division by zero was done by 5 students, mistaken of taking squares was done by 6 students, while exponent fallacy was done by 8 students. It was concluded that there were five factors leading to mathematical fallacy. Those are (1) Students were trying to skip several mathematical procedures who claimed as not substantive; (2) Students lacked of understanding in using the argumentation scheme in the form of procedural/steps to solve the problems; (3) Students took  the conclusion hastily without depth analysis; (4) Teachers tend to skip certain facts, concepts, principles and mathematical procedures; and (5) Some text books students used contain things which may lead to mathematical fallacy.Keywords: Mathematical Fallacy, Olympiad, Procedure

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the learning model that can develop students’ mathematical connections between two models of learning, that are Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and integrative learning model on three-dimensional space topic in Class X of SMAN 1 Teluk Pakedai. The research method used was quasi experimental with The Matching-Only Postest-Only Control Group Design as the research design. The sample of this research consisted of two classes: Class XB and X C. The result of data analysis using U-Mann-Whitney test showed that there was no difference of mathematical connection ability between the students hwo were tough by using Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and those who were treated by using integrative learning model. In result Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and integrative learning model can be used to develop students’ mathematical connection ability. This is proved by  the average mathematical connection ability score of the students in Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and integrative learning model which are 65.67 and 64 respectively.Keyword : mathematical connection ability, problem based learning  model, integrative learning model

Abstract

Abstrak : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan generalisasi matematis siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian studi survey. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 03 Pontianak dengan subjek sebanyak 30 siswa. Berdasarkan hasil analisis terhadap data tes generalisasi matematis dan wawancara diperoleh bahwa dari 30 siswa, empat siswa (13,3%) tergolong dalam kategori generalisasi matematis tinggi, 21 siswa (70%) tergolong dalam kategori generalisasi matematis sedang, dan  lima siswa (16,7%) tergolong dalam kategori generalisasi matematis rendah. Siswa yang tergolong dalam kategori kemampuan generalisasi matematis tinggi sudah mampu menguasai tiga aspek generalisasi matematis yaitu Perception of generality, Expression of generality, Symbolic of generality. Sedangkan kemampuan siswa kategori generalisasi matematis sedang hanya mampu menguasai sampai aspek Expression of generality dan kemampuan siswa dalam kategori generalisasi matematis rendah mengalami banyak kesulitan untuk setiap aspek.   Kata Kunci: Analisis, generalisasi matematis, kemampuan siswa Abstract : The purpose of this research was to know and description the students mathematic generalization ability by using descriptive method within survey studies. This research was conducted at Junior High School 03 Pontianak with 30 students as subjects. The results of mathematic generalization test and interview analyzed showed that four students(13,3%) classified in high category, 21 students (70%) classified in medium category, and five students (16,7%) classified in low category. The students in high categories has been able three aspect of mathematic generalization, such as perception of generality, expression of generality, symbolic of generality. The ability of students in medium can only until expression of generality aspect and low catagories had many difficulties in every aspect.   Keywords: Analysis, mathematical generalization, student ability

Abstract

AbstractThe aimed  of this research were to know the study achievement after being taught by using Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on circle material and to know the effect on study achievement after being taught by using PBL model on Circle material of SMP N 19 Pontianak. The form of this research was quasy experimental study with nonequivalent control grup design. The sample of this research was class VIII F  as an experimental class and class VIII G as a control class. The technique of data collection was a measurement technique and the tool of data collection is a test in the form of essay test. The pretest data are analyzed by using t-test after fulfilling the homogeneity and normality test. The research finding showed that the mean score of pre-test is 5.82 while the mean score of post-test is 16.10. The result of t test was 0.00 with significance different 0.05 indicated that any differences between PBL and direct learning model on study achievement. The calculation of effect size was 2.75. it is higher than 0.8 and categorized as ?High?. It could be concluded that the using of PBL influences study achievement on circle material. Keywords:  Circle Material, Problem Based Learning Model, Students Achievement

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap proses pemecahan masalah dalam materi aritmatika sosial yang dilakukan siswa dengan tingkat metakognisi tinggi, sedang, dan rendah dikaji berdasarkan Teori Polya. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan bentuk penelitian studi kasus. Subjek dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 34 siswa kelas VII SMPN 8 Pontianak tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa proses pemecahan masalah yang dilakukan siswa bervariasi dan cenderung tidak konsisten dalam menggunakan langkah-langkah pemecahan masalah pada tiap soal. Selain itu, siswa pada masing-masing kelompok tingkat metakognisi belum sepenuhnya menerapkan langkah-langkah Polya. Namun, proses pemecahan masalah siswa pada tingkat metakognisi tinggi terlihat lebih baik dibanding siswa pada tingkat metakognisi sedang dan rendah. Demikian juga, proses pemecahan masalah siswa pada tingkat metakognisi sedang terlihat lebih baik dibanding siswa pada tingkat metakognisi rendah. Kata Kunci: Proses Pemecahan Masalah, Metakognisi Abstract: This research aims to find out the problem-solving process in social arithmetic topic of students with high, medium, and low metacognition level based on Polya's theory. This research method was qualitative descriptive with case study research form. The subject of this research was 34 seventh grade students of SMPN 8 Pontianak in 2014/2015 academic year. The data analysis results showed that students? problem-solving process has many variations and tended to be inconsistent in using problem-solving steps in each problems. Besides, students of each metacognition level groups did not totally apply the steps of Polya?s. Despite that, the problem-solving process of students with high metacognition level was better than those with medium and low metacognition level. Likewise, the problem-solving process of students with medium metacognition level was better than those with low metacognition level. Keywords: Problem-Solving Process, Metacognition

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the ability of mathematical representations and determine the level of student anxiety in learning mathematics in the materials of circumference and wide of a rectangular and trapezoidal on the seventh grade student of SMP Kristen Marantha Pontianak. The researcher uses quasi-exsperimental research method and applies control group pre-test and post-test design. The sample of this research are 39 students as exsperimental group and 40 students as control group. The result of data analysis shows that the mean of the gaint-test score of the students mathematical representations ability group is 42,25 and the mean of the gain-test score of control group is 31,55. It is indicate that the mean of gain-test score of the student mathematical representations ability of exsperimental group which given by Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) is better than the control group which is only given the conventional learning. Whereas the level of student anxiety  after given the learning ability by using Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) is categorized lower. Keywords: mathematical representations, model eliciting activities, anxiety.
