Abstract

Bengkalis Island is one of the areas with high diversity of durian (Durio zibethinus Murr.). This research was aimed to analyze the diversity of  durian cultivars of Bengkalis Island. It was conducted from April up to August 2010. The morphological data were analysed using NTSYS-pc 2.02 and minitab 14.13 softwares. Genetic similarity value among 36 accesions ranged from 0,28 (between BT 14, BT 15 and SB6) to 0,66 (between BT6 and BT7). The cluster analysis showed that durian diversity from Bengkalis island was 34-58% or had similarity level 42-66% and formed 7 main groups. However, they were ungroupped depend on their growth areas. Based on PCA (Principal Components Analysis) value, durian diversity was 99,7% and formed 6 groups.  Furthermore, the result of pearson correlation analysis among 77 character showed that 10 characters were positively correlated and 4 characters were negatively correlated.

Abstract

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah mengkhaji distribusi dan area sel mukus di lapisan sel epitel usus tikus jantan Wistar (Rattus norvegicus). Sampel dibuat preparat histologis mengunakan metoda parafin dengan irisan 6 µm. Perwarnaan Hematoksilin Eosin dan PAS pH 2.5. Hasil perhitungan jumlah sel goblet untuk kontrol adalah duodenum 14 sel/mm, jejunum dan ileum 15 sel/mm. Jumlah goblet untuk dosis 50 mg ektrak etanol Tristaniopsis obovata R.Br adalah duodenum 9 sel/mm,  jejunum 14 sel/mm and ileum 20 sel/mm.  Jumlah sel goblet pada dosis 50 mg ektrak etanol berkurang untuk duodenum dan jejunum, tetapi jumlah sel goblet ileum lebih meningkat daripada kontrol. Area sel goblet untuk kontrol adalah duodenum 41,06 %/mm, jejunum 46,74 %/mm dan ileum 20,08 %/mm. Area sel goblet untuk dosis 50 mg T obovata R.Br adalah duodenum 3,46 %/mm, jejunum 18,89 %/mm dan ileum 60,09 %/mm. Kesimpulan adalah dosis 50 mg T. obovata R.Br berpengaruh terhadap kandungan mukus di sel goblet usus tikus jantan wistar, kemungkinan daerah duodenum dan jejunum  memiliki kondisi sel-selnya  yang telah mengalami kerusakan. Abstract

Obat Pahit is a potion that has been long commonly consumed by Lingga Malay society for generations as stamina keeper. The most dominant plants found in the packaging of the Obat Pahit were namely Bauhunia semibifida, Cnestis palala and Penawa Root (3 species). This research aimed to investigate and determine activity of antioxidant contents in Obat Pahit from five Traditional Medicine Practitioners (TMPs) in the district of Lingga. The tested samples were mashed then being soaked into 2 types of solvent: distilled water and methanol, containing HCl 1%. DPPH method was also used in this research. Quantitatively antioxidant activity test of Obat Pahit from the five TMPs by using methanol solvent had extremely highest activity compared to the distilled water solvent. The test, using TLC plate by spraying the extract from three dominant plants with 0.1 mM of DPPH solution, produced a pale-yellow spots at a wavelength of 366 nm. On the other hand, the test using HPLC at wavelengths of 230 nm and 280 nm showed the presence of two dominant secondary metabolites contents: flavonoid and phenolic. IC50 (ppm) of Bauhinia semibifida (6.6247), Penawa Root (5.0124) and Cnestis palala (5.9968) were much lower than IC50 of mangosteens rind (41.7675), vitamin C (6.6612) and Stimuno drug (8.333). This antioxidant analysis has not been reported previously. This proof contributed greatly to uncovering potentially native natural resources as an indigenous Indonesian drug which is expected to decrease dependence on imported drugs especially imunomodulator, antihypertensive, antidiabet etc. This research would be beneficial and excellent manifestation for the development of natural antioxidant-based medicines from traditional knowledge of Indonesias local ethnicities.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang tinggi dengan 13.466 pulau yang termasuk kedalam 33 provinsi dengan berbagai suku dan budaya. Keanekaragaman tumbuhan yang tinggi, berpadu dengan budaya etnik yang ada menghasilkan sistem pengetahuan dan budaya yang terkait dengan pemanfaatan tumbuhan yang ada. Budaya pengobatan dan penggunaan tumbuhan obat sudah berkembang lama dan diwariskan secara turun-temurun. Modernisasi menggerus tradisi dan pengetahuan pengobatan tradisional dan penggunaan tumbuhan obat di Suku Sakai Duri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang pengetahuan tumbuhan obat secara tradisional di Suku Sakai. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif, wawancara dan survey langsung di lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada 250 jenis tumbuhan obat yang digunakan oleh suku Sakai yang berasal dari Desa Sebangar dan Desa Kesumbo Ampai. Berdasarkan familinya kelompok Zingiberaceae lebih banyak digunakan di Sebagar, sedangkan Famili Annonaceae lebih banyak digunakan di Desa Kesumbo Ampai. Berdasarkan bagian tanaman yang digunakan daun merupakan organ yang paling bayak digunakan di kedua tempat, sedangkan berdasarkan habitus tumbuhan berhabitus pohon lebih umum digunakan di kedua tempat.Indonesia have the high natural resources and biodiversity with 13.466 islands in 33 provinces with various of ethnics and cultures. The high plant diversity combined with the variety of ethnics might result in the diversity of knowledge system of relationship between the society cultures and their plants cultures. The traditional treatment cultures and use the medicinal plants have been evolving for centuries that have been conserved from generation to generation. The presence of culture modernization has caused erosion of traditional knowledge of the society especially in the medicinal plants knowledge of Sakai Duri and Duri 13 ethnics. The aim of this study was to collect the information about the medicinal plant knowledge in Sakai ethnic. This study used descriptive method to collect all informations about the medicinal plant knowledge. The study has found 250 species of medicinal plants used by Sakai ethnic in Sebangsar Village and Kesumbo Ampai Village. Based on the family, the plants from Zingiberaceae family have been used more intensively by the society of Sebangar village, whereas the plants from Annonaceae family have been used more intensively by the people in Kesumbo Ampai village. The organ or part of the plants that is mostly used in both village was leave organ/part. Based on the habitus, the trees are mostly used in both sites and there were 35 tree species used in Sebangsar village compared to 42 species in Kesumbo Ampai village.

Abstract

Kecamatan Pangean di Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi memiliki sejarah yang lama dalam pemanfaatan berbagai jenis tumbuhan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, diantaranya sebagai bahan makanan, obat atau prosesi ritual. Penelitian ini bertujuan memperlihatkan peranan Zingiberaceae oleh Masyarakat di Kecamatan Pangean Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi dan untuk kajian botani, etnomedisin, etnoekonomi, etnofarmakologi, etnoekologi serta etnoantropologi. Pengumpulan data dihasilkan dengan menggunakan kuisioner terhadap Masyarakat yang mengetahui manfaat Zingiberaceae dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, spesimen famili Zingiberaceae dikumpulkan dari lapangan. Karakter morpologi dikoreksi untuk identifikasi spesimen. Total dari sebelas spesies yang ditemukan adalah Curcuma Domestica, Zingiber officinale, Kaemferia galanga, Alpinia galanga, Zingiber cassumunar, Curcuma xanthoriza, Zingiber argenteum, Costus spesiosus, Zingiber sp., Globba pendula dan Alpinia mutica. Secara umum, semua spesies ini berperawakan herba. Dokumentasi kajian etnomedisin yang menggunakan famili Zingiberaceae dengan tumbuhan obat lainnya untuk memperoleh dosis yang tepat. Kajian etnoekonomi memiliki nilai ekonomi yang rendah dari famili Zingiberaceae. Kajian etnoekologi menunjukkan bahwa famili Zingiberaceae lebih banyak dibudidayakan dalam penggunaannya daripada berasal dari hutan, sedangkan dalam bidang antropologi, masyarakat memanfaatkan famili ini untuk ritual tertentu. Famili ini juga memberikan efek farmakologi jika masyarakat tidak memiliki takaran dan penyajian yang tepat.Pangean District in Kuantan Singingi has long history in using variuos kinds of plant in their daily life, either for food, medicine or rituals. The study was aimed to reveal the role of Zingiberaceae by the society of Subdistrict of Pangean, District of Kuantan Singingi, Riau Province, and to study the botany, as well as the role of plants in ethnomedicine, ethnoeconomy, ethnopharmacology, ethnoecology and ethnoanthropology fields. Data collection was conducted by distributing quetionaires to people who know the use of Zingiberaceae in daily life, the Zingiberaceae specimens were collected from the field. Morphological characters were carefully examined for species identification. A total of eleven Zingiberaceae species were identified in this study i.e Curcuma Domestica, Zingiber officinale, Kaemferia galanga, Alpinia galanga, Zingiber cassumunar, Curcuma xanthoriza, Zingiber argenteum, Costus spesiosus, Zingiber sp., Globba pendula and Alpinia mutica. Generally, all of these species were herbaceous. Ethnomedicine study documented the use of Zingiberaceae with other medicinal plants to get accurate dosage. Ethnoeconomic study revealed the low economic value of Zingibeaceae. Ethnoecological study showed that the cultivated Zingiberace was more common used than wild species, while the study of ethnoanthropology showed that people used some Zingiberaceae for specific rituals. This family give farmacological effect if the people didnt use the correct dosage and preparation.

Abstract

Nanas Bongsai (Ananas comosus var. microstachys L.) is an amazing herb which is used in traditional medicine by local people of Muara Lembu district as a potion to reduce pain while menstruation period for a women. The present work was designed to investigate its probable side effects on the histopathologic changes in limph and uterus tissues after treated with A. comosus var. microstachys L extract in female white rats. This is an experimental research consisted of five treatments and three repetitions. Treatment composed of two controls (P0 and P+) and given Nanas Bongsai extract with three different dosages. Histology result of lymph show that all treatments given with Nanas Bongsai with three different dosages have different diameter average of white pulp and there is no significant changes with normal control. While observation towards histology structure of endometrium thickness with dosage P1, dosage P2, dosage P3 is 206.333±33.486; 215.667±33.486; 197.667±60.871 respectively. The most thin endometrium layer found in treatment with dosage P3 compared to control P0. From this study showed that there is no toxic effect on uterus and lymph function of of Nanas Bonsai (A. comosus var. microstachys L.) at different doses, so the plant is secure for consumption by the community.

Abstract

Obat pahit has been generally known and believed by Lingga Malay society as anti-aging agent. However, the study of Obat pahit is not scientifically proven. This research was aimed to prove immunomodulatory ability of Obat pahit potion from Lingga, Riau Archipelago. This study used white rats as an animal modelling, and Staphylococcus aureus as bacteria tester. The rats had been treated with aqueous Obat pahit extract from three TMPs on dose scales of 0.09, 0.18 and 0.27 mL/200g of body weight through oral administration for 7 days. Furthermore, on the 8th days, the experiment animals were injected by the preparation of bacteria tester through intraperitoneal administration in the amount of 0.5 mL/200 gram of body weigth and subsequently incubated for 1 hour after the injection. There were 2 observed parameters on this study, i.e efectivity and capacity of phagocytosis by leukocytes. The observation of leukocytes-phagocytocis activity was carried out by making a smear preparat samples of peritoneum fluid from rats. After the observation under microscope on a magnification of 100 times. The result was obtained the Obat pahit from Kalan PMT swere more effective on dose 2, while from SP4 and Linau TMPs were much more effective on dose 1. It is therefore, using these data of the results, the advanced doses scale of this Obat pahit would not be necessary. Obat pahit potion from Malay Lingga Malay Ethnic could become raw materials of immunomodulatory herbal medicine based on traditional knowledge. It also potentially as a standardized herbal.

Abstract

Pulau Padang memiliki areal penanaman sagu (Metroxylon sagu Rottb.). Menurut pengetahuan masyarakat lokal terdapat tiga tipe habitat kebun sagu di Pulau Padang, yaitu Gambut, Kilang Manis, dan habitat bertanah liat. Produktifitas sagu berkorelasi dengan ketiga tipe habitat tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengungkap keanekaragaman sagu pada tiga tipe habitat di Pulau Padang dan menentukan tipe habitat yang mendukung produktifitas sagu yang tinggi, sebagai informasi dasar bagi upaya konservasi habitat sagu. Sebanyak 19 individu sagu telah dikoleksi dari tiga tipe habitat dan diamati karakter morfologi dan agronominya. Hasil karakterisasi ditemukan tiga tipe variasi sagu yaitu sagu duri, sagu sengke, dan sagu bemban. Analisis kluster menunjukan bahwa tanaman sagu mengelompok pada tiga kelompok utama berdasarkan asal habitat dan keberadaan durinya pada tingkat kesamaan 31-88%. Berdasarkan analisis komponen utama membagi tanaman sagu menjadi 5 kelompok, cenderung mengelompok juga berdasarkan asal habitat dan keberadaan duri dengan nilai akumulasi keragaman dua komponen utama 58%. Tipe habitat kilang manis direkomendasikan sebagai habitat sagu yang perlu dikonservasi di pulau Padang.Padang Island has a large sago plantation areas. Indigeneous people recognize three habitat types of sago in Padang island, i.e. peat, kilang manis and clay soil. The productivity of sago is closely correlated to the habitat types. The aims of this research were to reveal the diversity of Sago palms in three habitat types in Padang Island and to determine the habitat types which support high productivity of sago as the information base for conservation of sago habitats. The nineteen sago individuals were collected from three habitats and their morphological and agronomic characters were observed. The result of sago characterization obtained three variations of sago in Padang Island, namely Duri, Sengke and Bemban. The cluster analysis showed that sago dendrograms, which was grouped into three main groups based on similarities of origin and the presence of spines with 31-88% similarity coefficient. The principal component analysis classified the diversity of sago into five groups with 58% accumulated value of diversity. Furthermore, Kilang manis, which in recent study is known as a part of Peat habitat, needs to be conserved for sago plantation area.

Abstract

Tembilahan merupakan salah satu sentra produksi manggis (Garcinia mangostana) di Provinsi Riau. Ciri khas manggis Tembilahan adalah mampu beradaptasi pada zona pasang surut air laut dan waktu berbunga pertama yang cepat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi keanekaragaman manggis Tembilahan dan hubungan kekerabatannya berdasarkan karakter morfologi dan agronomi. Penelitian dilakukan pada Juni 2015 sampai Januari 2016 dengan metode eksplorasi. Karakter morfologi dari 50 individu diamati, dideskripsikan dan diskoring. Skoring dianalisis menggunakan software NTSYSpc2,02. Berdasarkan pengamatan dari 51 karakter morfologi manggis diperoleh dua kultivar manggis yaitu kultivar lokal dan kultivar hutan. Koefisien kemiripan yang diperoleh berkisar 0,16 dan 0,82. Dendrogram dengan nilai koefisien kemiripan 0,41 sampai 0,82 terbentuk dua kelompok utama yaitu kelompok pertama terdiri dari 30 individu kultivar lokal dan kelompok dua terdiri dari 20 individu kultivar hutan.
