Abstract

Lesbian is an emotional relationship involving think, love and affection between women. In mental health, lesbian is one of the sexual deviations. Lesbian can occur due to the various factors, namely biological factors, psychological factors, environmental influences and lack of effective parenting. In general, the estimated number of lesbians in the community is 1 percent up to 10 percent of the total population. The purpose of this study was to explore traumatic experiences in a person's life and ineffective family communication can cause formation of a sexual deviations such as lesbians. The research methodology used was qualitative descriptive phenomenological approach. Subjects of this study were six participants that were selected using purposive sampling method. Findings of this study revedied that six themes were found to describe the phenomenon of lesbians. These themes were traumatic experiences, ineffective family communication, the impact brokenhome, formation of lesbian sexual deviations, the causes of lesbians and lesbian interaction in Pontianak. Overall, through this research it can be recomended that family need to continue to foster a harmonious relationship between each member of the family as a preventive. inaddition there is necessity of mental head service in comunity especially for adolescent such as girls in regard to their growth process and the impact of traumatic as well as ineffective family communication in adolescents.
