Abstract

Abstract. The ability of communication is one of the mathematical ability to be mastered by students in learning mathematics. Students who have good mathematical communication skills will be able to create a diverse representation in solving problem. This will facilitate the students in making a variety of alternative settlement so as to enhance the students ability in solving mathematical problems. One of approach to learning that is likely to improve mathematical communication skills and self-efficacy students is discursive approach. This research is experimental research with quantitative approach. The aim is to obtain an increase in mathematical communication skills and self-efficacy of students by using a discursive approach is reviewed by the entire student and student grouping. This study used a pretest - posttest  the control group. The data of mathematical communication ability collecting using test and the data of student self-efficacy collecting by questionnaire. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the improvement of students mathematical communication skills are taught using a discursive approach is better than the improvement of students mathematical communication skills are taught using the conventional approach based on the students overall well-reviewed and reviewed based on level students. For self-efficacy concluded that there are differences increase in self-efficacy between students taught with the discursive approach better than students who were taught using the conventional approach. Based on the analysis concluded that there is an interaction between the factors of teaching approach and leveling students with.The improvement of students mathematical communication skills while learning approach to factors and level of students to self-efficacy of students there is no interaction. Keywords: Mathematical Communication Ability, Self-Efficacy, Discursive Approach

Abstract

The aim of this research were described and expres of advantages figurative symbol in pepatah-petitih Jambi. This research was used qualitative approach with content analysis method. It was based on the quality of meaning. The data were petatah-petitih Jambi. The result of the research was the benefit of figurative symbol in petatah-petitih Jambi. From the result of the research were found that figurative symbol in petatah-petitih Jambi as methapore such as: 1) The using of animal figurative symbol based on humans proximity. Animal as food sources, economy, activity helping, and menace in human life annalogically. 2) The using of plant figurative symbol based on human need of food, source of income, and as food material, condition of the region Jambi agrarian. 3) The using of human figurative symbol involve phisycal, spiritual experience, activity, and objects around human life. The using of human figuratif symbol: phisycal, soul, activity, life and living. Conclusion of the research is the using of figurative symbol associated with phisycal, activity of animals, plant, dan human based on proximity, condition of the region, culture, the life of allied, help each other, agreement, and community. Keywords: metafora, pepatah-petitih, lambang kias, fungsi kias

Abstract

Abstract: Success or failure of education and learning in school is influenced by the ability of principals to manage every component of the school. In his capacity as the leader of the principal obligation to improve the performance of teachers, especially in implementing an effective learning process. The purpose of this study to determine: the principal's managerial ability in the preparation of the teacher's performance improvement program, the managerial ability of the principal in the implementation of the program to improve teacher performance, and barriers encountered principals in improving teacher performance in MIN Rukoh Banda Aceh. The study used descriptive qualitative approach. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Subjects were principals and teachers. The results showed that; 1) Preparation of a teacher's performance improvement program carried out at the end of each school year that include intra and extra-curricular activities, school facilities and infrastructure improvements, preparing administrative / learning tool by teachers and others as deemed necessary, including the need for the funds necessary to support learning activities teaching; 2) In the exercise program to improve teacher performance principals apply democratic leadership style. Facing the teachers are usually the principal the principal exchange ideas with teachers so finding an effective way to improve teacher kinetrja teachers in the development of the learning process; and 3) the principal obstacle encountered in improving the performance of teachers, among others, the lack of availability of funds for teacher training outside office hours, there is still a small proportion of teachers are not active and have not been able to induce the result of upgrading to his friend. A small percentage of teachers who have not been able to in the mastery of the foundation of education, so that the impact on performance in implementing the learning.Keywords: Managerial Principal and Teacher PerformanceAbstrak: Sukses tidaknya pendidikan dan pembelajaran di sekolah sangat dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan kepala sekolah dalam mengelola setiap komponen sekolah. Dalam kapasitasnya sebagai pemimpin kepala sekolah berkewajiban untuk meningkatkan kinerja guru khususnya dalam melaksanakan proses pembelajaran yang efektif. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui: kemampuan manajerial kepala sekolah dalam penyusunan program peningkatan kinerja guru, kemampuan manajerial kepala sekolah dalam pelaksanaan program peningkatan kinerja guru, dan hambatan-hambatan yang ditemui kepala sekolah dalam peningkatan kinerja guru pada MIN Rukoh Banda Aceh. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik  pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian adalah kepala sekolah dan guru-guru. Hasil  penelitian  menunjukkan bahwa; 1) Penyusunan program peningkatan kinerja guru dilakukan pada setiap akhir tahun pelajaran yang meliputi kegiatan intra dan ekstrakurikuler, perbaikan sarana dan prasarana sekolah, menyusun administrasi/perangkat pembelajaran oleh guru dan lain-lain yang dianggap perlu, termasuk kebutuhan dana yang diperlukan untuk menunjang kegiatan belajar mengajar;  2) Dalam pelaksanaan program peningkatan kinerja guru kepala sekolah menerapkan gaya kepemimpinan demokratis. Menghadapi guru-guru biasanya kepala sekolah kepala sekolah bertukar pikiran dengan guru-guru sehingga menemukan satu cara efektif  untuk meningkatkan kinetrja guru guru dalam pengembangan proses pembelajaran; dan 3) Hambatan yang ditemui kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kinerja guru antara lain kurangnya tersedianya dana untuk pelatihan guru di luar jam dinas, masih ada sebagian kecil guru tidak aktif dan hasil penataran belum mampu mengimbas kepada temannya. Sebagian kecil guru yang belum mampu dalam penguasaan landasan kependidikan, sehingga berdampak terhadap kinerjanya dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran.Kata kunci: Manajerial Kepala Sekolah dan Kinerja Guru

Abstract

Abstract: Headmaster is one of the components that affect teachers' performance. Educational success in school is largely determined by the success of the headmaster in managing academic staff at the school. This study generally aims to examine the leadership of headmaster in improving the performance of teachers at SMAN 4 Wira Bangsa and SMAN 3 Meulaboh, West Aceh. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach with technique of collecting data through observation, interview, and documentation. Subjects were headmasters, teachers, school committee, and students of SMAN 4 Wira Bangsa and SMAN 3 Meulaboh. Conclusions of this study are the headmaster leadership of SMAN 4 Wira Bangsa Meulaboh is autocratic style, while the headmaster of SMAN 3 Meulaboh is democratic style. Headmaster leadership of SMAN 4 Wira Bangsa Meulaboh and SMAN 3 Meulaboh is able to improve the performance of teachers in each school. This is proved from the curriculum, infrastructure and student achievement which achieve well and in line with the standards of teacher performance. The response of teachers to the leadership approach that made the headmaster at SMAN 4 Wira Bangsa Meulaboh and SMAN 3 is good enough.Keywords: Leadership, Headmaster, Teacher’s PerformanceAbstrak: Kepala sekolah merupakan salah satu komponen pendidikan yang berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan kinerja guru. keberhasilan pendidikan sekolah sangat ditentukan oleh keberhasilan kepala sekolah dalam mengelola tenaga kependidikan yang tersedia di sekolah. Penelitian ini secara umum bertujuan untuk mengetahui kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kinerja guru pada SMA Negeri 4 Wira Bangsa dan SMA Negeri 3 Meulaboh, Aceh Barat.Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif, teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi.Subjek penelitian adalah Kepala Sekolah, Guru, Komite Sekolah, dan Siswa di SMA Negeri 4 Wira Bangsa dan SMA Negeri 3 Meulaboh.kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah kepemimpinan kepala sekolah SMA Negeri 4  Wira Bangsa Meulaboh bergaya otokratis, sedangkan kepala sekolah SMA Negeri 3 Meulaboh bergaya demokratis. Kepemimpinan kepala sekolah SMA Negeri 4 Wira Bangsa Meulaboh dan SMA Negeri 3 Meulaboh mampu meningkatkan kinerja guru di masing-masing sekolah.Hal ini terbukti dari kurikulum, kesiswaan, sarana prasarana dan prestasi belajar siswa yang berjalan dengan baik dan sesuai standar kinerja guru.Tanggapan atau respon guru terhadap pendekatan kepemimpinan yang dilakukan kepala sekolah di SMA Negeri 4 Wira Bangsa Meulaboh dan SMA Negeri 3 Meulaboh cukup baik.Kata Kunci: Kepemimpinan, Kepala Sekolah, Kinerja Guru

Abstract

ABSTRACTorganizational culture and leadership of principal are two important factors that affecting teachers’ work performance.  this study aimed to find out the influence between organizational culture and leadership on principal and work performance of teacher in state senior high boarding school unggul negeri 2 banda aceh. this research uses quantitative approach with descriptive method. the data analysis technique to test hypothesis was  multiple correlation and multiple regression. the results indicaded that: (1) there is significant influence between organizational culture and teacher’ work performance that namely 13,54%. it meant that the success of organizational culture implementation could be viewed from increased responsibility, discipline and subservience to the rules and custom; (2) there was a significant  influence between the leadership of headmaster and teachers’ work performance, namely 11.70%. this showed that the leadership of the principal influenced the work performance of teachers in general and it could be concluded that the skill possessed by the principal included conceptual skills, relationship skills with subordinates and skills as well as the conducive attitude and behavior of leadership which was very influential on teacher work performance; and (3) there is a significant influence between organizational culture and principal’s leadership on teacher’ work performance namelys 20.70%. the work performance of teachers will increase if there are the condition of relationships and healthy communication among the components of the school because with the pattern of relationships and communication which are well and good will encourage someone to do a good job.keywords: organizational culture, ladership, and work performance of teacher’s

Abstract

Student achievement is highly dependent on the involvement of teachers in learning, good competence and high motivation. This study aims to determine whether there is influence between competence and motivation of teachers to student achievement SMP Negeri 14 Banda Aceh. This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. As the population used in this study was the teacher in charge of SMP Negeri 14 Banda Aceh, while the sampled many as 36 people. Methods of data analysis used in this study were multiple linear regression. The results based on multiple linear regression equation obtained Y = 2.227 + 0,172X1 + 0,264X2. The results showed that in partial competence of teachers have a significant effect on student achievement SMP Negeri 14 Banda Aceh with values obtained regression coefficient of 0.172, partially work motivation of teachers also have a significant influence on student achievement SMP Negeri 14, Kota Banda Aceh with values obtained regression coefficient of 0264 and the results of simultaneous testing also showed that the variables of the competence and motivation of teachers have a significant influence on student achievement SMP Negeri 14 Banda Aceh with values obtained Ftest 15.815, while the Ftable at a significance level α = 5% amounted to 3,284. This is shown, based on the calculation of F statistical test show that F count F table, with a probability level of 0.000, thus the hypothesis proposed is accepted.Keywords: competence, teacher work motivation and achievement

Abstract

The correlation betweeen motivation and discipline of certified teachers may influence the effectiveness of a teaching and learning process. The objective of this research were: (1) finding out the motivation of certified teachers, (2) identifying the discipline of certified teachers, and (3) correlating those teachers’ motivation and their discipline to the teaching and learning process at State Senior High School (SMAN) 1 of Southwest Aceh Regency. A quantitative approach was used in this research. All of the certified teachers (32 teachers) were the population members in this research and a number of 187 students were chosen as the research samples. The validity of the research instrument was tested with a formula of the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (Pearson-r) while the reliability was tested with Alfa Cronbach Formula. The data were analyzed by using a computer program called SPSS. The results showed that (1) the teachers’ motivation was positively and significantly correlated to the teaching and learning process (r=0.521) with being responsible, having encouragement to be successful, developing skills, and loving challenges as the indicators. Additionally, it was found that (2) there was also a positive and significant correlation between the teachers’ discipline and the teaching and learning process (r=0.726) with complying with the terms, obeying the rules, wanting to do the tasks, and being responsible as the indicators. In addition, (3) the motivation and the discipline of the certified teachers simultaneously, positively, and significantly influenced the teaching and learning process (72.8%) with making a plan, being professional, evaluating, conducting classroom action reesearch, and cooperating as the indicators. Hence, only 27.2 percent of the teaching and learning process was influenced by other factors.Keywords: Motivation, Discipline, Certified Teacher, Teaching and Learning Process

Abstract

Abstract: The leadership skills of a school principal are very significant in increasing the motivation of teachers. The professional competence of teachers is one of the strategies to increase the quality of education. The purpose of this study was to determine the efforts made by principals to improve the professional competence of teachers at SDN 2 Banda Aceh. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data was collected through interviews, observation and documentation. Subjects were the principal, deputy principal, head of KKG and teachers at SDN 2 Banda Aceh. The results showed that: (1) the principal’s policy process to improve the competence of teachers at SDN 2 Banda Aceh can be said to be good, the principal in improving teacher competence gave permission to teachers to continue their study, conducted trainings, provided teaching materials in accordance with applicable curriculum; (2) The strategies of the principal in improving the professional competence of teachers at SDN 2 Banda Aceh were good because every teacher is obliged to make a set of learning devides according to the latest curriculum, to adjust to the teacher’s book, and to make a schedule of supervision; (3) There were constraints faced by principals in improving the professional competence of teacher at SDN 2 Banda Aceh, namely the division of duties to teachers was uneven, and teachers were reluctant to express their desire and weaknesses in learning.Keywords: Strategies of the principal and Profefessional Competence of TeacherAbstrak: Kemampuan seorang kepala sekolah dalam memimpin  berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan motivasi kerja guru. Kompetensi profesional guru merupakan  strategi  meningkatkan mutu pendidikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui upaya-upaya yang dilakukan kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi profesional guru pada SD Negeri 2 kota Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian adalah Kepala Sekolah, Wakil kepala sekolah, ketua KKG dan guru di SD Negeri 2 kota Banda Aceh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Proses kebijakan  kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru pada SD Negeri 2 Banda Aceh sudah dikatakan baik,   kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru yaitu memberi izin kepada guru untuk melanjutkan kuliah, mengadakan pelatihan, menyediakan bahan ajar yang sesuai dengan kurikulum yang berlaku; (2)  Strategi kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi profesional guru pada SD Negeri 2 Banda Aceh yaitu  sudah baik karena setiap guru wajib membuat perangkap pembelajaran sesuai dengan kurikulum yang terbaru, menyesuaikan buku pengangan guru, membuat jadwal supervisi; (3) Kendala-kendala yang dihadapi kepala sekolah dalam   meningkatkan kompetensi profesional guru pada SD Negeri 2 Banda Aceh yaitu pembagian tugas kepada guru kurang merata, guru tidak berani mengemukakan keinginan serta kekurangannya dalam pembelajaran.Kata Kunci: Strategi Kepala Sekolah dan Kompetensi Profesional Guru

Abstract

Abstract: Strategies appropriate principals are highly demanded to make a change to improve the quality of schools. The purpose of this study to determine the program, program implementation, evaluation and barriers faced by principals to improve the quality of education at the Junior High School 2 Mesjid Raya of Aceh Besar district. The technique of collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. Research subjects principals, vice-principals, school committee, chairman MGMPs, teachers and supervisors. Data were analyzed by reducing, display, draw conclusions and verification of data. The results showed: (1) Programs are arranged not entirely based on the consensus reached school personnel. Quality improvement programs documented in the annual program and semester program to be used as a reference in implementing the program. (2) The implementation of the quality improvement program begins with the division of tasks with daily activities forming the executive committee of the school. Programs implemented not entirely based on a predetermined schedule. If the principal is absent, then the authority to implement the program submitted to the vice-principal or a senior teacher. (3) The evaluation was conducted by a committee or team that has been formed by the principal that includes principals, vice principals, supervisors and senior teachers. Prior to the evaluation carried out, the executive committee drafting and preparing instruments evaluation beforehand. The evaluation results will be analyzed and used as a consideration in the decision making in determining the program the following year, and (4) barriers faced by principals are still lacking kediplinan teachers, most school personnel are less committed to the running quality improvement program, the principal less timely in implementing quality improvement programs, the majority of teachers are less serious when seniors do performance monitoring.Keywords: Strategy, Principal and Quality of Education Abstrak:Strategi kepala sekolah yang tepat sangat dituntut untuk melakukan suatu perubahan guna meningkatkan mutu sekolah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui program, pelaksanaan program, Evaluasi dan hambatan-hambatan yang dihadapi kepala sekolah untuk meningkatkan mutu pendidikan pada SMP Negeri 2 Unggul Mesjid Raya Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, komite sekolah, ketua MGMP, guru dan pengawas. Data dianalisis dengan cara mereduksi, display, mengambil kesimpulan dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Program disusun tidak semuanya berdasarkan hasil musyawarah personel sekolah. Program peningkatan mutu didokumentasikan dalam program tahunan dan program semester untuk dijadikan sebagai acuan dalam melaksanakan program. (2) Pelaksanaan program peningkatan mutu diawali dengan pembagian tugas dengan membentuk panitia pelaksana kegiatan harian sekolah. Program dilaksanakan tidak seluruhnya berdasarkan jadwal yang telah ditetapkan. Apabila kepala sekolah berhalangan, maka wewenang pelaksanaan program tersebut diserahkan kepada wakil kepala sekolah atau guru senior. (3) Evaluasi dilaksanakan oleh panitia atau tim yang telah dibentuk oleh kepala sekolah yang meliputi kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, pengawas dan guru senior. Sebelum evaluasi dilaksanakan, panitia pelaksana evaluasi menyusun dan menyiapkan instrumen terlebih dahulu. Hasil evaluasi akan dilakukan analisis dan dijadikan sebagai pertimbangan dalam pengambilan keputusan dalam menentukan program pada tahun berikutnya, dan (4) Hambatan-hambatan yang dihadapi kepala sekolah adalah kediplinan guru masih kurang, sebagian personel sekolah kurang komitmen dalam menjalankan program peningkatan mutu, kepala sekolah kurang tepat waktu dalam melaksanakan program peningkatan mutu, sebagian guru kurang serius ketika senior melakukan pengawasan terhadap kinerjanya.  Kata Kunci: Strategi, Kepala Sekolah dan Mutu Pendidikan

Increased teacher competence is influenced by the strategy and role of the principal. The purpose of this study to know and analyze the program, strategy, evaluation and also, the supporting factors and obstacles of the Principal in improving teacher competence. Descriptive qualitative research methods, observation data collection techniques, interviews, and documentation studies, the subject is the principal, vice principal, teachers and administrative selected purposively. The results of the study show that: 1) The principal's program in improving teacher competence is done by requiring certified students to purchase books, and with MGMP school and MGMP integrated training / training activities 2). Principal strategies in improving teacher competence by analyzing initial needs, from the results of the new analysis determined what should be done to improve teacher competence, encourage teachers to pursue higher education and introduce school culture by creating a conducive school. 3) Principal evaluation of teacher competency improvement through direct supervision into the classroom, and supervision by school superintendents. 4) Principal supporting factors in improving the competence of teachers is very good, and parents' contributions are very supportive because some parents are instructors at national and regional levels, supported again by teachers at SMP Negeri 16 is a national and regional level instructors.
