Abstract

Fraktur adalah terputusnya kontinuitas jaringan tulang yang umumnya disebabkan oleh trauma. Anjing ras Yorkshire berumur 2,8 tahun dengan bobot badan 2,6 kg menunjukkan gejala klinis tidak bisa berdiri, kedua ekstremitas posterior mengalami diplegic lameness dan anjing hanya bertumpu dengan ekstremitas anterior. Anamnesis dengan pemilik hewan mengatakan anjingnya mengalami trauma akibat tertimpa tangga. Hasil pemeriksaan radiografi dengan posisi hewan right lateral dan ventro dorsal menunjukkan fraktur bilateral pelvis berbentuk oblique pada tulang ilium. Penanganan yang dilakukan adalah dengan metode open reduction internal fixation menggunakan bone plate 2.0 veterinary cuttable plate (VCP) dengan screw 2.0 mm cortical non-self-tapping pada kedua sisi tulang ilium. Hari ke-3 setelah tindakan bedah, pasien mulai dibantu untuk berjalan sebagai upaya melatih pergerakan ekstremitas posterior. Satu minggu setelah bedah, pasien sudah bisa berjalan dan menunjukkan perkembangan yang baik. Penanganan bilateral fraktur pelvis berbentuk oblique pada bagian ilium dapat ditangani dengan bone plate dan screw.

Abstract

Skin flap rotasi adalah flap berpola melengkung digunakan untuk penutupan defek berbentuk segitiga. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui perbedaan kesembuhan skin flap rotasi pada kucing dengan perawatan dry dressing dan moist dressing secara subjektif dan objektif. Penelitian menggunakan 6 ekor kucing lokal jantan berumur 1-2 tahun, bobot badan 2-4 kg yang dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok perlakuan. Semua kucing dibuat luka berbentuk segitiga dengan ukuran 2 cm pada area lateral abdomen untuk ditutup menggunakan skin flap rotasi. Kelompok I dirawat dengan dry dressing (K-I) dan kelompok II dirawat dengan moist dressing (K-II). Pengamatan subjektif meliputi perubahan warna kulit dan respon nyeri dilakukan pada hari ke-3, 6, 9 dan 12 setelah bedah serta uji pendarahan yang dilakukan pada hari ke-18 setelah bedah. Pengamatan objektif hari ke-18 setelah bedah untuk mengamati waktu absorpsi NaCl 0,9% dan waktu timbulnya dilatasi pupil setelah penyuntikan adrenalin. Kelompok dry dressing menunjukkan hasil yang baik pada hari ke-9 ditandai dengan warna kulit yang sama dengan kulit sekitar dan respon nyeri berkurang. Uji pendarahan menunjukkan darah segera keluar setelah insisi pada kedua kelompok perlakuaan. Waktu absorbsi NaCl 0,9% dan efek adrenalin lebih cepat pada kelompok dry dressing. Kesembuhan skin flap rotasi dengan perawatan dry dressinglebih cepat dibandingkan moist dressing. Kata kunci : Skin flap rotasi, dry dressing, dan moist dressing

Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of eggs from Farm, distributors and retail stores. The sample used is 66 eggs with details taken randomly at the farm is 9 eggs, distributors is 27 eggs and retail stores is 30 eggs. The observed egg quality is the value of Haugh unit, Yolk Index and Albumin Index. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the average Haugh value of egg units in farms, distributors and retail stores were 91, 72 and 7. The Yolk Index values for eggs in farms, distributors and retail stores were 0.45, 0.35. and 0.36. Meanwhile, the albumin index of eggs in farms, distributors and retail stores was 0.074, 0.050 and 0.046. Egg quality in farms, distributors and retail stores is in the category (grade) AA (HU value 72) and A (HU value 60-72). Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the quality of eggs traded in Banda Aceh and its surroundings is very good (included in the AA and A grade categories).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the dominant factor that clinically influent the occurrence of dehydration in goats aged 10-14 days old, in order to enhance the accuracy in diagnoinge the state of hydration. Ten native kacang goatlings were used as research objects. Kacang goatlings were dehydrated until loss 10% of their bodyweight by inducing diuretics furosemide (2mg/kg body weight every 4 hours) using intramuscularly, orally administration of spironolactone (50 mg every 8 hours) and hydrochlorothiazide (50 mg every 8 hours). Regression analysis was used to verify the correlation between clinical factors that considered potential, which are enopthalmus, skin turgor (back, neck and upper eyelid), capillary refill time, pulsus, breath, and body temperature. The results showed that enopthalmus, skin turgor on back and eye region has close correlation with dehydration occurrence with coefficient determinant R2 are 0.92; 0.90 and 0.81 respectively. It can be concluded that these three parameters can be used as predictor towards dehydration occurrence.

Abstract

Bahan implan tulang (bone graft) berbahan dasar alam saat ini mulai banyak dikembangkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji biokompatibilitas serbuk limbah cangkang cue (Faunus ater) sebagai kandidat bahan implan tulang pada kelinci berdasarkan pengamatan gambaran klinis otot, densitas radiografi, histopatologi tulang dan otot. Penelitian ini menggunakan enam ekor kelinci jantan berusia 8-10 bulan dengan bobot badan 1,5-2,0 kg. Tindakan bedah dilakukan secara steril dan aseptis dengan membuat defek area diaphysis tulang femur berdiameter 5 mm mencapai sumsum tulang. Kelompok perlakuan I (P1) diinfiltrasi NaCl 0,9% dan kelompok perlakuan II (P2) diberikan serbuk cangkang cue sebanyak 0,25 g. Pengamatan radiografi dilakukan pada hari ke-15, 30, 45, dan 60 setelah perlakuan dengan mengamati integrated density area implan dan area sekeliling implan. Hari ke-60 setelah perlakuan, semua kelinci dikorbankan nyawanya degan cara dieutanasi untuk pembuatan sediaan histopatologi dalam parafin blok. Integrated density material implan dan area sekeliling implan menunjukkan densitas radiopaque yang berbeda siginifikan antar kelompok perlakuan dan berfluktuasi di antara waktu pengamatan dengan perbedaan signifikan. Pengamatan histopatologi otot sekitar implan menunjukkan sel inflamasi, nekrosis dan jaringan ikat, sedangkan tulang sekitar implan menunjukkan proliferasi jaringan ikat, neovaskularisasi, proliferasi bone marrow, pertumbuhan tulang baru dan sel inflamasi. Serbuk cangkang cue memiliki biokompatibilitas yang baik dan berpotensi untuk dikembangkan menjadi bone graft.

Abstract

The blood biochemistry changes of liver and kidney are indicative of disorder in these organs. The objective of our experimental approach was to examine the level serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT), serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) dan creatinine after implant wire SS316L and alternative. Ten rats wistar strain aged 2-3-month-old, weighing 250-300 g were divide into two groups. Group I (G-I) implanted wire SS316L and group II (G-II) implanted alternative wire in os femur with each had a diameter of 0,5 mm. Blood sample was taken from sinus orbitalis on day 0 before implant, on day seven, 14, 21, 42 and 84 after implant. The results showed an increase in levels SGPT, SGOT, BUN and creatinine in the first few weeks after implantation. The levels of SGPT, SGOT, BUN and creatinine decreased again in the last week of observation with significant differences between the two treatment groups (P<0.05). The implant wire SS316L and alternative does not cause increased levels SGPT, SGOT, BUN dan creatinine for long time. Thus, it can be concluded that alternative wire has potential as internal fixation in fracture of small animal.

Abstract

This report was aimed to describe the behavioral changes of catfish as observed before two different earthquakes hit the Province of Aceh, Indonesia in year of 2012. A number of 5 African’s catfish (Clarias gariepinus) were placed in an aquarium located in Gapang, Sukakarya Sub-district of Sabang Town, Aceh. Their behavior activities were observed manually at three different times (08.00 AM, 01.00 PM, and 05.00 PM) every day from 1st March up to 11th April 2012. The result of observation showed that the activity of catfish was different between all of them from 1st March 2012 up to morning observation on 11th April 2012. Most of those activities was not showed as very active behavior. However, their behavior was very active in the same pattern when observed at noon and afternoon times on 11 April 2012. On this date, there were two consecutive earthquakes happened at magnitude of 8 Richter Scale at 03.38 PM and 05.43 PM. The epicenter of this earthquake was in Simeulue, with the distance of more and less of 390 km from observation station of catfish in Gapang. It was noted that this abnormal behavior possibly showed as an indication of their ability to detect the increase of pre-seismic activity at 2.38 hours and 43 minutes before the two earthquakes. Perhaps, it is the result of their response to the increase of pre-seismic electromagnetic wave. Further continuous observation and research is needed to ensure the role of African’s catfish (Clarias gariepinus) as abio-sensor for the increase of seismic activity.

Abstract

This study has long-term objectives to obtain immunogenic prototype that can be used to induce multiple ovulation in goats. Working steps of this study were begun with the collection of ovarium from goats, collection of granulose cells, culture of granulose and characterization of molecular weight and isoelectric point (pI) of inhibin protein of granulose cells obtained from culture and non-culture of granulose cells, and followed by preparation of monoclonal antibody toward inhibin. The results showed that inhibin isolated either from culture or non-culture of granulose cells produced a 32 kDa band. Molecular weight of inhibin was measured by Western Blot. The 32 kDa band of SDS PAGE product appeared on Western Blot result was inhibin molecules produced by granulose cells collected fom culture and non-culture of granulose cells that can be identified by Mab-inhibin. Product of IEF gel electrophoresis suggested that inhibin molecule collected from culture of granulose cells has no charge at isoelectric points ranging from 5-6, depends on its total amino acid composition.

Abstract

Exposure to heat conditions is one of the causes of heat stress for broilers. This research was conducted to determine the effect of administering jaloh extract (Salix tetrasperma Roxb) in drinking water to broiler chickens with heat stress condition on fat levels and muscle water content (intramuscular). This research was conducted using a completely randomized design with a sample of 15 broiler chickens strain MB 90 aged 21 days which placed in individual cages and a temperature of 34 ± 1ºC was set for  4 hours/day for 7 consecutive days. The treatment groups were as follows: P0 as control group without jaloh extract; P1 was given jaloh extract at a dose of 50 mg/l; P2 was given jaloh extract at a dose of 100 mg/l in drinking water. Each treatment group consisted of 5 replications. The data were analyzed using ANOVA test, and then continued with the Duncan test. The results showed that jaloh extract at a dose of 100 mg/l in drinking water could increase the fat content of meat up to 16.63% and could reduce the water content to 44.52%. It could be concluded that the administration of jaloh extract at a dose of 100 mg/l in drinking water could increase fat levels and reduce intramuscular muscle water content in broiler chickens with heat stress condition
