Abstract

Durio kutejensis (Hassk.) Becc. (lai) is a cultivated plant in Genus Durio except D. zibethinus Murr. (Durian). D. kutejensis is superior than D. zibethinus based on blunt spine, not fragrant, flashy color (dark yellow to orange) and storage ability up to 7-8 days. The aim of this research was to analyze the variation of morphological characters of 31 landrace trees which was collected from Batuah Village, Tanah Merah Village and Sebulu Village in East Kalimantan. Lai varied in several characters which were their crown shape, branch type, leaf shape, flower color, and fruit shape. The crown shape is pyramidal, semi circular, oblong, and umbrella. The branch types are spreading or erect to rather spread. The leaf shape is oblong, lanceolate or elliptic. The flower has pink or dark red color. The shape of fruit is globose, globose with 5-lobed, ovoid with 5-lobed, and oblong with 5-lobed.   Key words: Durio kutejensis, morphology variation, superior

Abstract

Abstract

Melanographium laxum Rifai is described and illustrated, based on colonies growing on palm petioles collected in Bogor Botanic Gardens, Java. Unlike the other members of Melanographium, the present species does not form tufted or fasciculated conidiophores.

Abstract

An emended delimitation of the genus Dactylaria Sacc. is proposed and the two accepted species, which are non-predaceous and dematiaceous, are redescribed and illustrated. The affinity of many nematode-trapping species currently classified in Dactylaria with the didymosporous genera Arthrobotrys Corda, Candelabrella Rifai & R. C. Cooke and Genicularia, Rifai & R. C. Cooke is discussed and the scopes of the latter genera are enlarged, and consequently several new combinations are made.

Abstract

The scope of the monotypic genus Sara.wa.kus is enlarged to enable it to accommodate the newly described species Sarawakus sucoisus Rifai. A complete taxonomic revision of the genus is presented, in which it is shown that Sarawakus belongs to the Hypocreaceae and not to the Xylariaceae as some authors have suggested. Hypocrea gelaiinosa (Tode ex Fr.) Fr. subsp. oligotheea Penz. & Sacc. is accorded specific status as Hypocrea oligotheea (Penz. & Sacc.) Rifai and Phaeocreopsis pezizaeformis Boedijn is transferred to Hypocreopsis.

Abstract

An illustrated description of Triposporium novoguineensei Rifai sp. nov. is presented based on a specimen collected at Garaina, New Guinea.A special visitor award from the Australian Government enabled me to attend the 42nd Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science (ANZAAS) Congress held in August 1970 in Port Moresby (Territory of Papua and New Guinea), and to participate in a botanical and agricultural post-congress tour around the Territory. The ample opportunity to collect fungi during this tour was fully utilized and a specimen which appeared to represent an undescribed species of Triposporium was found in Garaina Tea Estate, Garaina, Territory of Papua.
