ABSTRACT: Pesticide residue in strawberry (fragaria ananassa rosa linda) has been analysed using gas chromatography. This study initially aimed to determine the level of organophosphate pesticide residues in strawberry collected from the markets and strawberry picking farm in Bedugul area. Pesticide residues are traces of pesticide, including the products of the degradation found in the fruits. This study was conducted in three phases, namely extraction, purification (clean up), and determination. Determinationusing by gas chromatography with DB5MS column and the carrier gas is helium. The resulst obtained from this study shows traces of compounds suspected to be derived from pesticides degradation in samples of strawberry from both sampling locations. These compounds were 1-hexadecanol, benzophenone, 2,6-diisopropylnaphthalene, 7,9- Di- tert- butil- 1- oxaspiro (4,5) deca- 6,9- dien- 2,8- dion, methyl hexadecanoate, phthalic acid, di-n-octyl phthalate, delta.3-carene, 2 ethyl hexanol, benzene, naphthalene, 1-dodecanol, and diethyl hexyl phthalat, which are most likely derived from pesticides used by farmers such as profenofos, chlorpyrifos and diazinon. Those are known as the active ingredients of comercially available pesticides used by the farmers namely Calicron, Dursban, and Green Tonic. The fact that the samples cantained these compounds suggested that it is not always safe to consume the fruit directly after picking.
