Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of Korean culture fans, especially fans of Korean Pop music (K-pop) in Bandung. Their unusual behaviors, such as hysterical screaming over their idols, mimicking the dances, angry if their idols are insulted, and putting K-pop as their top priority are very interesting elements for the researchers to explore more about K-pop fans, particularly in Bandung. Focus of this research is the definition/ meaning of K-pop and the transformation of self-concept of K-pop fans in Bandung. This research uses a qualitative approach. Schutz's phenomenological analysis are used to examine the phenomenon of K-pop fans in terms of their experiences. The subject of this research is the informant who has fulfilled two (2) criteria, namely a fan of K-pop and a member of Korean culture lover community. Based on the results of observations and interviews, there are three self-concept transformations of informants, namely (1) byeonhwa namnyosongeui (변화남녀성의), i.e. transformation of the masculine self-concept into feminine, (2) byeonhwa dad-eun yeollin (변화성의열린), i.e. transformation of the introvert self-concept into extrovert, and (3) byeonhwa uigyeon bad-eun (변화의견받은) which can be interpreted as transformation of the closed-minded self-concept into open-minded that appreciate other people’s opinions.

Abstract

An investigative reporting has changed quite rapidly in the last few periods after the development of information technology. The presence of online media encourages the emergence of online journalism. The existence of online journalism, within the framework of online media, gives a certain touch to investigative reporting activities. Investigative reporting developed in online media has managerial uniqueness and certain coverage patterns. The purpose of this study is to illustrate how the management of editorials and online media coverage patterns in Indonesia conducting investigative coverage. Data for this research is obtained through interviews with data analysis using a qualitative approach and a case study method of single case-multilevel analysis. Research subjects (journalism) and research objects (online investigative news) of this study are Detik.com and Tirto.id. The results of the study show that investigative data are at the core of investigative reporting in online media. It can be in the form of direct observation under investigation (disguising) or the disclosure of new facts that have not been revealed before. The online news media in Indonesia, although it relies on the speed, also still takes into account the accuracy and rules of journalism, especially in the coverage of investigations. The online media strategy in reporting investigations is to divide investigative data into several news stories with one theme, but each headline is different according to the investigative reporting to be reported in parts.

Abstract

Self presentation for public accountants, on every aspect of their professional life, is essentially important. From the perspective of Symbolic Interactionism, self-presentation is about constructing the meaning about nature of self and life reality which uniquely different from each other. This article seeks the self-presentation as vehicle of meaning making process as constructing by public accountant. Data collection techniques are consisted of participant observation, interviews, and literature study. Based on universal principle, that everything will lead to interaction process, existence, and responses, public accountants exchanged symbols on their self presentation.

Abstract

Freedom of information has become a momentum for the effort to realize good governance and promote democratic governance system in Indonesia. With the enactment of Freedom of Information Law No. 14 of 2008, the public was given access to the right of public information as human right such as  guaranteed by law. Public freedom of  information should encourage public participation. Political parties as public institutions also have to give  information  in the service of the public who wish to access any kind of information which is regulated by law. However, based on reports ICW, how difficult political parties provide the information requested by the ICW. This Article examines the political culture, political communication strategies and public freedom of information within the political parties.

Abstract

The result shows that television is the most accessible mass media and owned by the majority of the respondents. Even though the respondents very intensive in accessing the television, they only incidentally viewed the news of swine influenza risk and thus they are very speculative in nature  in viewing the news of swine influenza risk.  Thus,  cognition aspect of respondent about the swine influenza risk news release is very low because they only acknowledge the news but they do not understand the importance of the news for them. While, their affective aspect shows that they feel more anxious about swine flu risk because there is no socialization of swine flu risk preventions. The last but not least aspect is the behavior aspect. Here, the respondents generally act to ask to close the pig livestock to the owners or even to the state apparatuses if there is a swine flu infected case in their area. This research suggested that   the Banyumas local  government   through the health,  animal husbandry, and fishery agencies should more proactive on the swine flu risk  preventions  policy implementation,  for example,  socializing,  periodically and sustainably,  swine flu risk  preventions specially in the area surrounding the pigs livestock.
