Abstract

Garlic (Allium sativum L.) is one of the important commodities in the horticultural sub-sector which is one of the basic needs of the community that must be fulfilled. However, garlic production in Indonesia has not been able to meet the demands of society's needs. For this reason, an additional area of land for garlic development is aimed at the optimal suitability of environmental physical factors. The use of superior varieties is one of the technologies that play a role in increasing the productivity of garlic. This research was conducted in May - August 2020 in Tarusan and Muaro Aie Bayang Utara, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province with a randomized block design using Lumbu Hijau, Lumbu Kuning and local varieties of Bukik Sileh Solok as treatment. The results showed that the varieties of Lumbu Kuning and Lumbu Hijau were able to adapt well in Muaro Aie with an altitude of 322 masl compared to Tarusan with an altitude of 4 masl. Both varieties gave a fairly good growth response and yield, although only half of the description of these varieties.

Abstract

Lahan di kawasan pantai pemanfaatannya belum optimal untuk lahan pertanian karena dihadapkan pada beberapa masalah baik dari segi ekonomis maupun praktek budidaya. Perlu suatu gagasan dalam mengoptimalkan potensi lahan tersebut agar dapat lebih produktif dan memberi manfaat nyata pada masyarakat. Salah satu cara untuk memanfaatkan lahan pantai adalah dengan melakukan budidaya bunga matahari. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan dan hasil bunga matahari pada lahan tidur di kawasan pesisir. Penelitian disusun menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok, dengan perlakuan 3 varietas dan 2 aksesi bunga matahari yang diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bunga matahari sangat berpotensi untuk dikembangkan pada  lahan tidur di daerah pantai Pesisir Selatan. Aksesi Ha1 menunjukkan pertumbuhan dan hasil yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan aksesi Ha15 dan varietas Kanigara, Lokal Jumbo serta IPB BM1. Land in the coastal area has not been optimally utilized for agricultural land due to a number of issues, both economically and in terms of cultivation practices. The findings revealed that sunflowers have the potential to be grown on undeveloped land along the coast of the United States.

Abstract

Sunflower is one of the oil-producing plants that potentially can be developed as a food raw material, industrial, medicine, and cosmetics. Sunflower cultivation needs to be conducted in various lands in Indonesia; one of them is coastal regions. However, on one side, these lands were included on marginal land because the high level of salinity constrains it. This research aims to determine sunflower growth and thrive on salinity stress in the coastal land. This research applies a random group design with five treatments consisting of two accession and three sunflower varieties with three repetitions. The research result shows that the sunflower accession Ha1 growth and thrive on salinity stress in coastal land was quite significant compared to the accession Ha15 and Kanigara, Helina IPB, and BM1 IPB varieties. Generally, sunflower can adapt to stress salinity in coastal land.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Ipteks Berbasis Dosen dan Masyarakat (IBDM) telah dilaksanakan bersama mitra Kelompok Tani Harapan Baru yang berlokasi di Kabupaten Solok. Budidaya tanaman hortikultura yang dilaksanakan oleh kelompok tani ini sangat bergantung pada penggunaan pestisida untuk pengendalian hama dan penyakit tanaman nya. Seringkali penggunaan pestisida nya jauh melebihi takaran yang dianjurkan, sehingga produk yang dihasilkannya banyak mengandung residu pestisida. Mereka menyadari bahwa penggunaan pestisida yang berlebihan dapat mengakibatkan gangguan kesehatan dan menurunkan kesuburan lahan. Untuk itu, Kelompok tani Harapan Baru menyatakan ingin menjadi kelompok tani yang ramah lingkungan dengan melakukan praktek budidaya pertanian yang ramah lingkungan. Tujuan utama dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani untuk pembuatan pestisida nabati. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan terdiri atas persiapan dan sosialisasi kegiatan, pengenalan bahan pestisida nabati, praktek pembuatan pestisida nabati untuk pengendalian hama, dan aplikasi pestisida nabati ke lahan milik petani. Secara umum kegiatan ini dapat berjalan dengan lancar sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Kelompok tani sudah dapat memilih bahan baku dan cara membuat beberapa jenis pestisida nabati. Pada kegiatan ini telah dihasilkan tiga jenis pestisida nabati yang berasal dari ekstrak daun pepaya yang memiliki metabolit sekunder seperti alkaloid, terpenoid dan flavonoid, ekstrak kulit jengkol yang mengandung senyawa asam jengkolat, saponin, terpenoid, tanin, steroid dan alkaloid, dan ekstrak daun sirsak yang mengandung senyawa annonain dan resin. Ketiga pestisida nabati yang dihasilkan terbukti efektif mengendalikan hama pada tanaman hortikultura, seperti bawang merah, tomat, kubis, dan cabai.

Abstract

One of the factors causing the low productivity of rice in West Sumatra Province is quality seeds, which are still very low. Also, many rice varieties currently used have a low resistance to pests and diseases, particularly the leafhoppers, which currently attack rice in West Sumatra. The National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) is one of the institutions that produce new rice varieties through mutation technology, one of the varieties produced in the Kahayan variety. Kahayan varieties have several advantages over the previous varieties, namely early age, high productivity, and resistance to certain pests and plant diseases. This activity aims to disseminate the breeding of Kahayan rice seeds to breeding farmer groups so that they can fulfill their needs for rice seeds independently. The activity was carried out at the Air Sarasah Farmer Group in Nagari Sungai Batang, Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency, from November 2019 to March 2020. The activity consisted of disseminating breeding activities, implementing Kahayan rice breeding, and assisting Kahayan rice varieties' breeding. From this activity, farmer groups have been able to better breed rice, according to the operational standards for seed breeding set by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia. Also, farmer groups have been able to increase their knowledge of certifying rice seeds. From the results of rice seed breeding, it was obtained that the Kahayan rice seed class Basic Seed (BD) yield was 6.1 tonnes/hectare, which exceeded the national average rice yield, namely in 2018, it was 5.2 tonnes/hectare.

Abstract

Currently, Nagari Ganting Mudik South Surantih is still in the category of underdeveloped villages. Three main issues in the nagari will try to be offered for assistance, namely in health, education, and village governance. The activity aims to design a program to assist the nagari to build in Nagari Ganting Mudik South Surantih, Sutera District, South Pesisir Regency. The method of implementing the activity is to hold direct meetings in consultations on a plan for the next three years between the proposer team and the nagari government, such as Walinagari and their apparatus, Bamus, Youth, PKK, and community leaders. The results obtained were that three problem areas were identified as problems in Nagari Ganting Mudik South Surantih, namely the fields of health, education, and village governance. The solutions planned in the health sector are 1) handling malnutrition and stunting, 2) activating family planning villages, 3) increasing community participation in participating/getting health insurance, 4) handling chronic energy deficiency events (KEK) experienced by pregnant women, 5) increase the percentage of people who have proper latrines. Solutions in the field of education are 1) handling children who drop out of school, 2) realizing the community's needs who want to get packages A, B, and C, 3) innovative education in the use of social media. The solutions in nagari governance are 1) training the nagari apparatus that manages the website and completes the data, and improves the appearance of the website, and 2) trains the nagari apparatus in making letters and filing them. This activity concludes that it has been mutually agreed between the service team and partners to carry out activities on the designs that have been prepared together for the next 1-3 years, as evidenced by the signing of cooperation (MoU).

Abstract

Crocidolomia pavonana Fabricius is an important pest in the Brassicaceae family that can cause up to 10% -100% yield losses. One of the plants that are considered as potential botanical insecticides is Kabau Plant (Archidendron microcarpum (Benth.). This study was aimed to determine the ability of kabau pell crude extract to control C.pavonana. The study was conducted at Rejang Lebong State Community Academy Campus and Natural Resources Organic Laboratory of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Andalas, from September 2016 to February 2017. The research was conducted in three stages: filter, bioactivity, and chemical profile examination. The results showed that the kabau peel crude extract was classified as an active insecticide for C.pavonana. At a concentration of 0.5%, kabau peel crude extract caused larval mortality to reach 63.33% in the filter test and 70% in the bioactivity test. The extract consisted of phenolic compounds, saponins, flavonoids, steroids, terpenoids, and alkaloids. Keywords: Kabau plant, secondary metabolite, botanical insecticide, Crocidolomi pavonana

Abstract

Indonesia dikenal sebagai wilayah megabiodiversity, hal ini disebabkan karena menyimpan keanekaragaman spesies flora serta fauna yang melimpah. Kuantitas dari biodiversitas ini bersifat fluktuatif, kenaikan terjadi jika ditemukan spesies-spesies baru di alam, dan penurunan bisa disebabkan akibat terjadinya kepunahan. Sumatera Barat merupakan daerah dengan tingkat sumber keanekaragaman hayati yang tinggi. Namun sampai saat ini potret biodiversitas provinsi Sumatera Barat tidak dideskripsikan secara menyeluruh dan lengkap, tercatat belum semua daerah memiliki basis data kanekaragaman hayati. Salah satu pangan lokal alternatif yang belum teridentifikasi secara menyeluruh ialah tanaman hanjeli dengan nama ilmiah Coix lacrima-jobi L. Tujuan dari review artikel ini yakni untuk mengumpulkan informasi-informasi perihal kondisi keanekaragaman tanaman hanjeli yang ada di Sumatera Barat. Ditemukan bahwa hanjeli mampu untuk tumbuh pada dataran rendah hingga dataran tinggi serta mampu adaptif pada bermacam kondisi ekosistem, antara lain pada lahan kering serta zona di sekitar sumber aliran air. Diketahui bahwa terdapat keanekaragaman tanaman hanjeli yang ditemukan di provinsi Sumatera Barat, hal ini terlihat dari keragaman fenotipik yang ditampilkan baik berupa karakter kualitatif maupun kuantitif pada batang, daun, bunga, serta biji.

Abstract

Bunga matahari termasuk salah satu jenis komoditi pertanian yang mempunyai potensi besar untuk dikembangkan. Hal ini bukan tanpa alasan karena setiap bagian dari bunga matahari dapat digunakan untuk makanan, pakan ternak, bahan baku industri, kecantikan dan obat-obatan. Saat ini pengembangan bunga matahari telah bergeser ke penggunaan lahan marginal seperti lahan pesisir namun memiliki banyak permasalahan. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan berbagai inovasi dan penerapan teknologi. Salah satunya adalah penggunaan mikoriza dan kompos maggot. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui respon pertumbuhan bunga matahari di lahan pesisir pantai pada aplikasi beberapa dosis mikoriza dan kompos maggot. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan rancangan acak kelompok secara faktorial dengan 4 taraf pada masing-masing perlakuan dan diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi dosis mikoriza dan dosis kompos maggot yang diberikan akan berbanding lurus terhadap pertumbuhan bunga matahari pada lahan pesisir pantai.
