Abstract

Leptoglossus australis merupakan salah satu hama tanaman mentimun yang menyerang buah mentimun. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui tingkat kehilangan hasil pada buah mentimun berdasarkan waktu infestasi kepik labu (L. australis). Penelitian dilaksanakan pada April hingga September 2016. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode RAK (Rancangan Acak Kelompok) terdiri dari 1 perlakuan 5 taraf dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu waktu infestasi (W) pada umur buah yang berbeda dimulai pada umur 0 hsm (W1), 2 hsm (W2), 4 hsm (W3), dan 6 hsm (W4) serta control (W0). Pada setiap perlakuan diinfestasikan 2 ekor kepik instar ke-4. Kepik yang telah diinfestasikan kemudian dibungkus menggunakan plastik bening yang telah diberi lubang pernafasan. Infestasi dilakukan sampai buah mentimun berumur 9 hari. Hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa semakin awal waktu infestasi L. australis menyebabkan kehilangan hasil pada buah mentimun semakin besar. Infestasi pada 2 hsm menyebabkan kehilangan mencapai 97,06%. Kata kunci : Infestasi, Kehilangan hasil, L. australis, Mentimun

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted based on the student’s understanding on mathematics concept was still low and the low curiosity of student to the subject material. This research was aimed at revealing wheather the use of Learning Starts With A Question technique could give a better effect on the student’s understanding on mathematics concept than conventional learning in class VII SMPN 5 Kota Solok. This was an experimental research which used random desain toward  subject. The instrument of the research was test on mathematics concept. The data then was the perceived data analysis the perceived data analysis. Based on the  data analysis, it was revealed that the sample was distributed normally and had homogeny variant. The result of hypothesis test showed that p-value (0,023) was smaller than indicating that the hypothesis was accepted. Hence, it was concluded that the application of Learning Starts With A Question technique could improve the students’ understanding on mathematics concept better than that of the conventional learning.

Abstract

West Sumatra is an area that still has a high poverty rate is as much as 407,470 people or 8.14% of the total population. One of the effect of this situation is approximately 0.9% of West Sumatra children still suffer from malnutrition due to lack of nutrition, especially protein. By extracting the rice bran, will be acquired proteins that can be used to ensure adequate intake of proteins which have not fulfilled. It’s caused by soybean price instability which has been used as a source of protein for most of the population of West Sumatra. By varying the alkaline solution, pH and extraction time will be obtained optimum conditions to obtain the highest protein concentrate that can be used as an alternative protein source. For the determination of protein content contained in each sample was used Kjeldahl method. Having done this research, was obtained the optimum conditions is KOH solution with extraction time was 3 hours and pH 10. Based on the results of ANOVA test shows that the extraction time and extraction pH have significant effect on the yield of concentrate protein. But, extraction solution factor didn’t have significant effect.Keywords: Extraction, Rice bran, Enrichment, Sources of food, High protein

Abstract

In I am Number Four novel by James Frey and Jobie Hughes, there is a main character named John Smith. He is 15 years old and at his age, he is in puberity phase which his characters are influenced by people around him. This research was conducted using psychosocial study. The purposes of this study are to analyze what the factors that influence John Smith’s characters and what the psychosocial problems that emerge in the development of John Smith’s character. The method used was qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected by using content analysis techniques. Based on the findings, that each character of John Smith is influenced by biological factor, familial factor and cultural and situational factor. The character of the biological factor is the genetic character that john smith gets from his grandfather. The character of the familial factor is a character that he imitates from Henri as his adoptive father. The last is the character of cultural and situational factor, this is a character that he gets through the interaction with the people around him and the situation he faces. The psychosocial problems that emerge in the development of John Smith’s character are the emotional problems that he feels, those are; fear, temprament and melancholic.   Keywords: Psychosocial, Character, I Am Number Four Novel.

Abstract

The Faculty of Social and Political Science is the oldest faculty at Mulawarman University which is the first university as well as the highest number of students in Kalimantan. Then to maintain its existence, the Faculty of Social and Political Science of Mulawarman University needs to emphasize its superiority in the context of increasing competitiveness against the Faculty of Social and Political Science in other tertiery institutions. Therefore, management of the study program needs to be led by keaders who have the appropriate leadership style for institutional development. Transformational leadership patterns refer to it with a number of characteristics: charismatic, can affect idealism, inspirational and able to encourage the intellectuality of organizational members. The object of this survey is the four Coordinators in the Study Program with the highest number of students in the Faculty of Social and Political Science of Mulawarman University, with respondents from the academic community which include lecturers, education staff and students. The survey results show that the current Study Program Coordinator of the Study of Government and the Public Administration has the ame weakness in the ability of individual consideration. However, they experienced a better increase in their ability to provide intellectual stimulation compared to the previous Study Program Coordinator as seen from the increase in academic and non-academic achievement. Other findings from this survey are that currently the Study Program Coordinator of the International Relations actually has a weak ability to have an ideal influence and the Coordinator of Communication Studies has actually decreased the ability to provide intellectual stimulation compared to the leadership of the previous Coordinator, so that the Communication Studies Study Program requires efforts to increase innovation more focused on the implementation of scientific activities and the production of academic works better.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to reveal the influence of students taught by cooperative learning model numbered head together and discipline of learning with students who are taught conventionally and student learning discipline towards student learning outcomes of SMA Negeri 4 Solok. This type of research is quasi-experimental research using two research classes namely the control class and the experimental class. The number of research samples from the two classes was 54 students. The results showed that: (1) Student economic learning outcomes taught with cooperative learning models numbered head together were higher than those taught using conventional learning models. (2) Learning outcomes of students who have high learning discipline in the cooperative learning model numbered head together and students who have high learning disciplines with conventional learning models. (3) Learning outcomes of students who have low learning discipline in cooperative learning model numbered head together and students who have low learning discipline with conventional learning models. (4) There is no interaction between the learning model and the discipline of learning on the economic learning outcomes of students in class X of SMA Negeri 4 Solok City Keywords: numbered head together, learning discipline, learning outcomes AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan pengaruh dari Siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe numbered head together dan disiplin belajar dengan Siswa yang di ajar kan dengan konvensional dan disiplin belajar siswa terhadap hasil belajar siswa SMA Negeri 4 Solok. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan dua kelas penelitian yaitu kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Jumlah sampel penelitian dari kedua kelas adaah 54 orang siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Hasil belajar ekonomi siswa yang diajarkan dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe numbered head together lebih tinggi daripada yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional . (2) Hasil belajar siswa yang memiliki disiplin belajar tinggi pada model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe numbered head together dan siswa yang memiliki disiplin belajar tinggi dengan model pembelajaran konvensional . (3) Hasil belajar siswa yang memiliki disiplin belajar rendah pada model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe numbered head together dan siswa yang memiliki disiplin belajar rendah dengan model pembelajaran konvensional. Abstract

The problem of garbage in Medan City is one of the problems that needs to be addressed immediately. The program of community service activities aims to provide training to the community on how to process garbage into something useful. This Community Service was conducted for women and teachers in Bureau of Logistics (Bulog) Foundation teachers with presentation, discussion and garbage management practices. Presentation activities carried out by the community service team by providing material on how to process household organic garbage into compost in the Bulog Office Hall, Medan. After finishing the presentation of the material, participants were given the opportunity to discuss about the material provided to the questions and answers or responses. After the presentation and discussion, follow the training on how to make compost from household organic garbage in Sei Semayang Village, Deli Serdang Regency. The positive responses were received with a good reception at the arrival of the community service team at the location and at the time the presentation and training were conducted. This activity was successfully carried out with the support of woman and Bulog foundation teachers.

Abstract

Health status and micronutrient intake among vegetarian and non-vegetarian in BaliBackground: Several studies have reported that vegetarian diets have health benefits for those adopting the diets.Objective: This study aimed to compare anemia status and micronutrient intake between vegetarians and non-vegetarians in Bali.Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Bali. A total of 240 samples consisting of 160 vegetarians and 80 non-vegetarians were randomly selected. Hemoglobin (Hb) and fasting blood sugar levels were measured using the cyanmethemoglobin method and enzymatic colorimetric, respectively. Meanwhile, the data on micronutrient intakes were collected by interviews using the semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (SQFFQ). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and the Mann-Whitney test was performed to analyze the differences.Results: The study’s results showed that the mean Hb levels in the vegetarian group were significantly lower than non-vegetarians (p=0.002; p<0.05), and the anemia status in vegetarian women were higher (22.5%) than non-vegetarian women (2.5%). The mean fasting blood glucose level in non-vegetarians was significantly higher than in the vegetarian group (p=0.000; p<0.05). There were no differences in zinc (Zn) intake between vegetarians and non-vegetarians, but there were significant differences (p<0.05) in vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin B12, folic acid, magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), and iron (Fe) intakes.Conclusions: There were differences in anemia status and fasting blood glucose levels between vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The fasting blood glucose levels of non-vegetarians were higher than vegetarians, and there were differences in the intake of certain micronutrients between vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
